My favorite piece is the T shaped piece because it fits anywhere, often fixes gaps, and has its own special move called the T -spin.
I often hear people say that the line is the best piece but i find that it does not always have a good spot and can be difficult to lay it down horizontal.

I think the Line Piece is my favorite Tetris Piece. It is more easier to use, and you don't have to think hard of where you have to put it. Also there is no rush to see if it fits somewhere unlike the other ones.

If you are a slow thinker and slow mover, you might put the T or L piece in a dumb way, then screwing up your whole game.

The line peice is the most useful, it lets you use the almight "Tetris" and score big, as well as it lets you make little fences to build inside while leaving a gap to throw another line down
You only really need the T peice if you mess up with your peice placement, it's ok in that respect but it's not much good for anything else like stacking.

I'd say the line piece, or as I like to call it. The long skinny block. My entire Tetris strategy is built around this piece, although it's frustrating when you don't get one for about 100 turns. The next best has to be the T block for me. Versatile little bugger can go just about anywhere and has saved my bacon on more than one ocassion.
