Techically you should have both as they work together to keep you safe.
I wouldnt say one or the other protects "better", just differently from each other.
One protects the ports your PC uses to access things online, the other makes sure your files stay clean.
They do different things, so I dont think it fair to really compare them.
So my answer is not going to be that one or the other is better, as you should use both.
