I do agree that there are way too many overweight people, and also that fried foods (aka KFC) are a big part of this, but you have to realize that they probably aren't even thinking about this. Basically, they're either trying to get more publicity and boost sales or they're trying to do some good with their cholesterol stores.  Personally, I think it's more the latter, but the extra publicity was probably one of the deciding factors. Sad, but true, most people don't do things out of the goodness of their hearts anymore.

I just think it is ironic. They are promoting obesity, heart disease, and a slew of other medical problems with their greasy, processed foods. Yet they donate $0.50 to the fight of breast cancer if you buy a whole bucket of that crap! They are defiantly doing it all for the wrong reasons. I don't think that is is a good idea because fried chicken is junk food and if you eat a lot it won't cure cancer it will make you overweight. |

Notice in all the pictures it's the "Grilled Chicken"
But yeah, I think it would mean more if it was 50 cents from every purchase, not just from the buckets. But most people don't buy the buckets anymore so that is why they are doing it. Oh, and I think just a bucket of chicken is about $13, but with sides and stuff it hits that $20 mark easy.

Its not like you really have the choice between curing cancer and heart disease. You can always choose to donate money to different programs, not just KFC, or you can eat at Burger King. I'm not sure if KFC views this as a chance to do good with their reputation or just make money, and we will never know unless we ask them (in which case, we probably won't get a straight answer). Seriously, if you want to cure cancer, just donate the money directly or go into medical science fields. Take your pick.
