Super Castlevania IV on the Super NES was my favorite. It is the control that you have over the character makes you in the game, whether it is the 6 whipping directions instead of the 4 or the control over the smooth jumping. Super Castlevania IV was absolutely my favorite game to play. I remember playing it in my friends houses.

Symphony of the Night here, of course. Such a good game. Dracula's Castle in this game was a blast to spelunk through.

Castlevania on the NES because it was the only Castlevania game that gave me a challenge. Now I can beat it with out losing a life with ease. Plus, despite it's limited attack range, difficult bosses (later bosses), and horrible controls (jumping, moving) I like that.

Definitely Symphony of the Night, I think it's just really fun. I don't tend to like the newer Castlevanias as much because they are really awkward, and they seem to literally BE more modern, I mean, look at Simon's new look lol. I even copied it onto my PSP

I vote for Super Castlevania IV. Wait a minute....The first Castlevania game got more votes than Super Castlevania IV? I would have though Super Castlevania IV would have more votes. I think it has better grapthics, sound, gameplay, better level design - more clever level design, might I add - and most importantly the ganeplay. That makes you feel you are Simon Belmont, making the game easier to execute jumps or killing enermys in odd places by attacking in a certain direction. You could even moonwalk up the stairs.

Here's were Circle of the Moon comes in, it has the RPG aspects as well as the traditional whip-yielder.

Sure, the same can be said of Portrait of Ruin, but with COM not only can you play it on a big screen through the Game Boy Player, but it has more replay value with the different modes of fighter-class, which makes it more addicting.

I haven't gotten around to the Castlevania series yet, but I have played a hack game called Super Mario Bros Crossover. Simon is one of the available characters and he's pretty fun.
