As long as the plot, originals usually have better plots.
But, if you care more about graphics and things like that, then remakes are always better.
So, it depends on what it's important for you.

the story in a remake, unless it's been changed up enough to add new elements or bonus content afterwards, is usually boring due to it having been used before.

The graphics, on the other hand, look a lot better.

Gameplay is usually (although not always) also improved, with new mechanics or better control schemes.

So it all depends on what you want out of the game.

As long as none of the key factors of the original game(storyline, gameplay, etc.) is changed, I prefer remakes.

I would say that the original Red and Blue pokemon games are better than the Leaf Green and Fire Red version. To me it's the atmosphere of the game, where you feel like you are actually in the past, traning your pokemons and making them stronger. Even thoug, it has better graphics and a new feature into the newer games, the orignal is the best. Without the original, they can't make a remake of it, so I go for the Remakes.

It just depends. Some remakes have been great (like Resident Evil for the Gamecube) but others just plain fail to capture the feel of the original game (like Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, just horrible). Most of the time I'll go with the original I guess.

Wicked old games like Metroid, I'd love to have a remake instead. Metroid: Zero Mission was not only adding on to the original, adding new graphics and stuff, but it also was really refined, and there was a longer story and stuff, plus it made the game itself somewhat more easier to accomplish.
Newer games though, not so much, but then again, it always depends haha
