Not that hyper, just enough energy to keep yourself awake and...functioning, hahah.

Yeah sugar does, but the word hyper is an overstatement.

It does if you have enough. It'll make you really hyper if you drink two or more Monsters in rapid succession. (I know it's not the caffeine because caffeine doesn't really have too much effect on me)

As long as the kcals, yes the sugar is full of them and that's the reason it gives us a lot of energy.
Plus, sugar has the ability to give energy to human body faster than the other sources of energy(it's all about chemical "reactions" that take place in human body).
So, if you eat sugar, you gain more energy and faster than normal ways

Oh definitely, you get really energetic when you have a lot of sugar lol. I think hyper is actually right when you take in that much sugar.

Depends on if it's complex sugar or simple sugar. Complex will get you awake give you energy but no burst of energy (Hyperness). However eating a good amount of simple sugar will give you a strong burst of energy (Hyperness) but usally that ends in a crash as well where you get so tired you just wanna pass out and often lay down and fall asleep not realiseing it.

Someone should go and buy a pound of granulated sugar, and take a spoonful every 30 minutes and see how many days they can stay awake. Probably not healthy, but as they say in the world of science "no pain, no gain".

I think it really depends on the person. I know people who totally flip out if they eat too much sugar, and run around screaming and throwing things. Me eating sugar has no effect, since sugar is basically my diet. I think it can give a rush of energy, during which you use up more energy than you were given, and then you crash.

Sugar dosen't really make you hyper but it does wake you up to more or less of an extant. Candy bars and sodas usually have caffine which contributes to the superstition.

Sugar as a granule gives a short burst of energy which the body breaks down within seconds of exercise. More complex sugars like starch give long term energy.

It can make you pretty hyper. I was allergic to certain sugars when I was a kid (prolly ages 3-7). My mom told me that if I had over a certain amount I would get pretty irritable and rambunctious(nice word, I know ) I guess it went away in time. I don't even eat very much sugar anymore at all.

Yes, it gives a quick burst of energy (longer if you eat a larger amount) but then it fades and you can crash/burn out. This is why the FDA says sugary breakfast cereals should be avoided; they make you feel more awake briefly but then you get tired quickly.

I think glucose is a form of chemical energy, so it does have to give you energy, but I think hyper is just a term that people made up to give themselves and excuse to act crazy. However, sugar only gives short bursts of energy, so you tend to crash after it runs out.
