Why do adults become the person they are?

Sorry for not explaining it better deathblade200 i mean their pesonality, their manners,the way they treat other people, and plus everything else about them.

I understood the question perfectly and I went with "environment" even though "all of the above" is a very good answer too.


I chose "environment" because when I was a really little kid maybe 3-6 years old I saw ALOT of crazy things happen with my crazy family. Everyone partied and mostly all of them did jailtime. So many messed up things like that happened in my life I couldn't begin to explain them. I saw all of this at a very young age and it basically continued to happen throughout my entire life and it still actually does to this day, which is a major reason I don't associate with most of my family. I have alot of cousins too and NONE of us are completely normal even though we're all grown up now.

I started to become who I am around 7 years old in the 3rd grade. I quit doing schoolwork and quit caring about my future. I'm actually lucky I turned out how I did. Although I've done alot of bad things myself, I've never been to jail and never seriously hurt anyone.

It can't be blamed on my parents since my mom is a pretty good person and it can't be blamed on genes since my dads family is ultra-religious. Strangely enough, my moms family is all drug addicts and alcoholics and my dad is an alcoholic. Read that again if you have to, it worked in opposite ways. LOL. My dad is the bad apple of his family and my mom is the good apple of hers.

The environment I grew up in caused me to learn about bad things and eventually do them myself. If it wasn't for that, I seriously doubt I would ever have gotten involved in most of those activities. Adding to that, I grew up in a neighborhood with alot of good friends that aren't so innocent themselves, and we all pretty much caused trouble together.

I'm asking why are they good or bad.

I think "their environment" is the best answer for this, since it's rather general and in my opinion includes "their parents" because that can be a factor in their behavior. The parents can affect their kids in a good or bad way. The parents can be great role models and form their kids into great adults, or they can be horrible role models and their kids would follow them. Conversely, they can also be bad role models, and then influence their kids to NOT be like them. And the environment is very important because then the kid would usually adapt to their environment, acting like the people around them, stuff like that.

I truly believe their enviroment plays a major role and dictates sorta the type of person they will be. The people your around, the place your at, and the overall structure of the area really affects how a person becomes who they are. I also believe your parents have some influence on this as well but it's mainly the enviroment.

Definitively all of the above. Especially their parents and environment.

Parents are SO crucial in a child's development. They teach them morals, values, manners, but also influenced how discipline they'll be. Not to mention, children follow by example.

I also say all of the above, because it is all of those things that help adults, become who they are... "Their environment" is a good choice, but it is not the only thing that changes them...

I believe it is a bit of everything, although I honestly think parents influence development the most. It really is interesting to look at how your parents were raised and compare it to how they raise you. Its just oh so similar...

Some can change their personality but it depends on who they are, most likely.

It's gotta be a combination, because it's been proven that all of those affect how you turn out. There have been so many studies done, and they have all been more or less conclusive.

Although all of the above have a huge say on who someone is, it's ultimately up to the children's free will.

Some sibilings who have the same genes and parents, and roughly the same environment (it cannot be perfectly recreated) can be complete opposites.

However... sometimes they are so due to the fact that they have a sibling, and try to be different from them. Which would then be part of their environment.

it just depends on the life you live really you have a great life with no money problems will prolly be a happy geezer you have a rough life with nothing but downfall your going to be one of those geezers who yell at kids to get off your yard lol

It is a combination of all the factors you have listed and all you have not. As humans we are not sure what goes into making an adult an adult. I'm sure there are serial killers who grew up in perfect, loving families and people who grew up in horrible, despicable families that turned out as great people.

I would base it on experiences.
