Me and MichaelVash had a conversation about this over AIM, and sorta arguing (not really) about what is the proper way to call it.

I say it's "Pop"


Soda = anything that has carbonated water
Cokes = a flavor of a pop
Beverage = can mean anything


Soda-Pop is probably the most proper way to call it, but I call it "pop" anyways, and so does everyone else who lives up here in Wisconsin.

I call it soda, most people on the west coast do. I notice that in the mid-west they do tend to call it pop, so when I am visiting family in Missouri I call will refer to it as pop. I have never heard anyone past the age of 8 call it soda-pop with the exception of on old television shows like Happy Days.

In my experiance, my family in the northern states calls it Pop, and my family in the southern states calls it soda. Traveling between the two so much, I've just learned to call it what it is (Pepsi, Coke, etc).
