If my thread such as RMS Titanic thread, though it seams worthless it is because I couldn't come up with something good for it.This applies to all my threads. The reason is that I can't come up with ideas that well< but still ok.

See, this is why I get anal about punctuation and decent grammar. Not to be mean, but I have a hard time understanding exactly what you mean. It would be nice if you re-read your post, and just edit it so it's a little more legible .

But I imagine you would like some feed-back about your difficulty making threads?

Well here is what I have to say. There's no pressure to make threads. I have near 900 posts, and have only made 50 threads.

There's nothing wrong with making threads, but there's nothing wrong with not making them either. Maybe you should get used to posting more before making threads... that may make you feel a little more confident.

But really, don't worry. You'll get the hang of it after a while.

Well put! Yeah basically there is no rule saying you have to make threads. You can be a member and not making any. I would say just lookover your posts and threads before you make them, and think them over, that's all.

Yeah, I make threads only when I come up with a good idea for them. There is no reason to create threads other than that...

Like Light said, because you don't use punctuation and grammar properly, no one will understand your threads if you don't post well. So, just post for a while and get the hang of your posts becoming more comprehensive.

I have 2,400 posts and I have only about 40 threads... It is no rush. There is no need to make extra threads

Coming up with good thread ideas can be hard. I rarely make any threads myself I just reply to others. I liked your Titanic thread but others found it offense I guess, so I guess just watch what you say more or something. But I liked the Titanic one, you should make some more interesting ones

Yeah, feel no pressure. I honestly hardly make threads, unless I really have a good idea, so don't feel any pressure in this sense. I always have trouble coming up with good threads, but don't feel bad in any way. My point is, don't worry about it too much.

I already know not to worry too much so thanks. My point is that if my thread seem worthless it is because it is still being under think process.

Oh ok. Well I don't think your threads are worthless .

The thing is, you should wait until your idea is no longer in the the think process before making the thread. I'm sure you'll feel better about them then.

But we don't think your threads are worthless. Sometimes it's just the wrong place wrong time for it.

When I first joined viz, I kind of felt like you in that I wanted to make threads and stuff. After my first five or so, I realized that they weren't that great of threads and so I focused on posting more. I can't really come up with good threads either.

My advice is though, if you have questions on whether it would be a good thread or not, it probably isn't, so don't make it. If you think it's a great idea, without a doubt, go ahead and try it, but think it through first.

I don't bother making threads very often.... I have 1 super successful thread.... beyond that I've made about 200 threads and most of them are dead.

200 threads out of 8000+ posts....


making threads is hard.... making good threads is even harder.

Honestly, the easiest way to pick a good thread topic is to just make a thread about something you think is interesting. That's what I do. And sometimes you get lucky... and sometimes your thread gets 5 replies and then dies. There isn't much you can do about it.

[edit] Quite often a good thread has a choice or leading question involved in it. If you make a thread where people have to take sides that usually spawns a lot more conversation than something where everyone is likely to simply agree with you.

Good threads that will last are usually ones that can continue discussion going on and on. Like geo's "Ask Geo Anything" thread. That could go on forever... There are also a few crazy house threads that can go on forever but those are pretty pointless.

I like debate & logic threads a lot, even if it doesn't get 200 replies they can be really good

Dont worry man you'll learn how evetually it just takes time honestly fore me i almost post more threads and polls then i do anything i love posting threads and people seem to like them what i do is 1. just ask a question you always wondered about DONT be shy just throw anything out there because people may be wondering about the same thing there just to embarrassed to ask or there just scared. 2. make up a scenario and the ask them a question on the senario.3. think about what we all have in commen in this day in age and in the past and ask a question on it.4 talk about your problems in your life because people like giving advice and plus other people may have the same problem so it would help them out to. theres alot more i can tell you about polls and treads pm me if you need more advice

1. ask a question your wondering about DONT be shy.
2. Make up a senario and ask a question on it.

P.S. I'm NOT saying i'm an expert on threads or poll's i'm just telling yall how i make threads and poll's. i'm not bashing anybody else's methods or how they make threads, polls, or posts.

And one more hint: Don't be afraid to ask.

If your not sure if a thread will be a good idea or not, just ask a the mod of that forum, or a global, or maybe a mature good poster. We're all here to help.
