It's an annoying adware. There may be a trojan involved, I can't say for sure.

When ever you download anything, make sure you check if there's something like "Install MyWebSearch toolbar too". If there is, uncheck it.

Try to keep your browser as clean as possible without too many extra toolbars.

I'm not really sure but it really is annoying. I've never used it when I had a virus program to check but yeah make sure you dont download stuff nless you know exactly what it is and that it has no extras to it.

Ad ware, no virus involved. It is rumored to use cookies to track browsing habits. You can unistall it using Add/Remove programs then a program like Hijack this or Spybot to clear the lingering entries it leaves all over your system.

Make sure your firewall is always on and get a virus protector such as mcafee or norton. Maleware bytes maleware is also good for completely cleaning your pc of viruses. If all that fails, try a system restore to an earlier time.
