Who do you believe was the rival with best Pokemon or just best sportsman ship. I'm guessing all were a bit sassy but, my choice goes with May from Emerald. She was the only one who wasn't in your business all the time. Sure at times, a little too confident but still wasn't annoying. What are your thoughts?

He was still competitive and a pretty decent battler, but he was mature enough to back off when he lost, and not insult you like Gary and Silver. I don't really count Dawn, you never did actually battle her, and May/Brendan was a wimp.

i have been playing the new heartgold pokemon game and i love the rival for one big reason. because he's a villian! other rivals (like may, brendan, and barry) are not villians. so, they actually have a point in the game.

gotta say Blue was the best rival. He stars at exactly the same time as you, starts off with a type advantage.. which makes you work even harder at beating him.. He was also cool in the comics.. so it was all good lol

I also feel that in the manga (pokemon adventures, the one that almost actually follows the game story) blue was a really cool Rival to Red (your character) unlike teh game Rivals I face in the games.. blue was able to put aside differences, and was more realistic to me as a TRUE rival than any of the others. Even after Blue lost he still had that.. 'dont worry ill get you next time..' attitude which was awesome^^.

But then again that's enhanced when RED shows up in silver and gold, and utterly totals you the first time you fight him at the mountain.

I haven't seen another game where the hero from the last game appears, and pounds you totally with your new team. When I think that Blue helped create THAT, I have to say Blue is the best, because RED is the best, win or lose.
