The Church I attend, as a non-believer (they're very patient with my nitpicking) is called by my family the "Church of Rock and Roll", not to say that it's a 'hippy' church, though I suppose Vermont would be a good place to get back to the woods, but that it is a church that promotes a joyous celebration of God, with a great deal of music and so on.

Let me tell you, that took some getting used to. A quiet fellow like me was a lot more at home trying to reconcile his personal morals with an idea of God in a traditional sermon, but it's grown on me somewhat. Sure, I still don't sing, but at least I've refrained from being a complete downer on the proceedings.

In any case, enough about me. I'd like to hear what sort of Church you all attend, how the service goes on, etc., even if that be the "Church of a few mid-morning prayers in my sweats". Forget the Theological debates of the other threads and so on, and let's hear how you enjoy your personal worship, Christian or otherwise!

I go to a non denominational church. So we don't have the usual religious practices or masses that most other churches might have. We just sing and hear a sermon, maybe have a baptism, or we will take communion once a month.

I go to Calvary Chapel. It started with some guys in a garage and now it's got churches all across the United States, but thankfully they don't let the power go to their head like a lot of big churches and organizations.

It starts with a band playing songs, then the pastor (who is a really funny guy) comes on and talks for about half an hour. It's kind of straightforward: they use the Bible as their source and admit when (if ever) what they say is speculation on their part. It's a non-denominational church. They don't follow any traditions that don't really mean anything unless you count communion, it's just talking about God, saying a prayer for the people who need it, and then it's over. Then after that they usually have doughnut holes and coffee.

What's great about it is that they're really open-minded, they do their homework, and they're extremely supportive. If you have anything you want prayer for, there's always someone who will be kind enough to pray for you. If you have any questions about the Bible, I'm sure you'll get someone to answer it for you. Ironically, whenever an Atheist tells me Christianity is corrupt and describe to me what it *should* be like they pretty much describe Calvary Chapel. I even directed a friend of mine to it over the Internet, but I don't know what happened with that.

Another cool thing is that they don't just shut their doors and then reopen on Sunday. They have programs and clubs to join, so you pretty much have no excuse not to get to know the people there. It's really cool.

Crawldragon :
Dude, that sounds so much like my church it's not even funny. We're Southern Baptist. We start with a greeting, the choir sings, we have hymns and the pastor prays. The choir sings again, the kids 3rd grade and under go do their own little Bible study, and our pastor gets up. He usually opens with a joke relating to the day's sermon and a prayer, and then a half-hour, straight-from-the-Bible sermon, we pray again, sometimes have a baptism or communion (we have communion only on 5th Sundays so it doesn't become too much of a worthless ritual), and go. During the week we have things from a Christian scouting group to soccer practices and games, we've got Wednesday night activities, and sometimes the youth group does something.
Also on Sunday mornings, we have Sunday School, where for an hour people meet by age group and have a Bible study. I love our high school one (my Dad teaches actually, lol). We have a special video curriculum called Fuel, and we watch a video (which are usually rather cheesy) and have a discussion. My parents make our class really fun.
That's my church. The best part is how close we all are. I know all the kids personally, and love just hanging out with them.

Here is an overview of the church I attend. It has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.

* We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.
* We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.
* We believe worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.
* We believe worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give a great place to music in our worship.
* We believe worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon teaching the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshiped.
* We believe worship of God is fruitful. Therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshiping Him.
