I have question about vampires that are in movies, books, and in t.v. shows. not the people that are claiming to be real vampires in real life. ok my question is it scientifically possible to suck a persons intire blood out of there body in two holes in there neck? and is it possible for a person to live off of nothing but the blood of another human being?

I doubt you could suck all the blood out completely in 1 go out of the neck.... you could probably get a lot... but not all of it. Although I do believe that more than 1 vampire could feed off a human and each get a fair share of the blood.

As for living off of it.... I doubt a human could. Not for very long anyway. We're omnivores.... we require all sorts of different kinds of food to survive. Vampires are mythical creatures though which means they don't generally conform to the rules that humans are bound by.

Not all of it, but you have to remember that it is the aorta we are talking about... the major artery. Easily enough to kill you. However in traditional vampire myth they didn't drink them dry in one go. As to living off the blood, maybe for awhile but not long. Blood is water, iron, and various nutrients that we need. Remember that the blood is what carries all the things we need from the food we eat to where we need it. I'd say you'd last longer than you would if you only had water but no more than a week past it.

Interesting side note: I wrote a research paper on vampires.

It really just depends on the school of thought you follow. Their is one Idea they release a neurotoxin that acts as a paralytic; stopping the victim from moving while keeping the wounds from cauterizing. That being said, Exsanguination would take a considerable amount of time, an average sized mans (160 lbs) body hold 4.7 liters or 5 quarts. Drawing this much blood through a pair of 2 centimeter wide holes, even with the assistants of a pumping heart, would take the better part of an hour two two hours.
As for living off it, a human could not. Even sanguinarians (term for blood drinkers similar to vegetarians) need to eat real food for sustenance.

I doubt it would only take one go but i've never tried. But as for living off it, i think that if the person that the blood was from was healthy and had eaten enough excess nutrients a person could. But i'm no scientist. I do know of many diseases that require blood transfusions to survive in certain conditions. If you know anything about Porphyria, a disease some people consider the basis for the myth, you would know that these people need blood transfusions when they have an attack and they can't be exposed to a lot of sunlight (in some branches of it they cant be exposed to any.)

PS: I have this disease so I know tons about it if you have any questions.

You actually have Porphyria? Wow, never thought I'd meet someone that had it.

In my research I came across one set of data they had that said in some cases garlic could actually agitate the disease. Have you ever heard of this?

Also, what is it like living with it? I assume it can be really annoying.

Yeah I do actually. I got it from my mom. I have Acute Intermittent though. Its not so bad as long as I eat tons of carbs and keep my hormones from going crazy and keep stress down. I'm not allergic to the sun but if I have the choice I will stay indoors. And yes, I can't have much garlic. It only happens sometimes though. Like last year new years, I had a garlic pretzel at that pretzel place in the mall, and that night i had the worst attack I've ever had. Its not a bad thing to have really. Most times you barely know you do.

Wow. Well, I am glad you only have a milder form. That is trippy that the garlic thing is actually true. Must make Italian food an interesting gamble. Ever been called a Vampire by anyone?

Haha yeah. I tend to stay away from it as much as I can nowadays. I can handle some though. I can't say I've ever been called a vampire though, well other than by myself. But that would be pretty cool.

I don't think that it is possible to suck all the blood out only a small fraction of it. Also it would take a long time to suck all the blood out.

I liked the plan the vampires had in Blade 3. It was reminiscent of what I did to victims when I played Kindred the Embrace.
