The game opens where we enter our name and once we do we see Blasternaut and his robot sidekick spot just standing around waiting for Blasternauts spaceship, Spot is playing with a paddle ball while we wait. Blasternaut whistles a signal to the ship and it finally arrives Blasternaut and Spot materialize inside the spaceship. Spot is told to prepare for Hyperspeed, but the machine won’t go. Blasternaut has no idea what the problem is, Spot asks if he checked the fuel gauge but Blasternaut comes up with something else which is outside the ship and has Spot fix….but in reality YES THE SHIP IS OUT OF GAS, which leaves Spot out in the open. What could possibly go wrong? Hit by a meteor? No. Sucked into a blackhole? No that doesn’t happen either. How about some random yellow three eyed alien who leaves a trail of trash and kidnaps Spot just because he can (gelator’s plan in the remake makes more sense)? BINGO! Blasternaut returns from being below deck and can’t seem to find spot TITLE CARD Blasternaut contacts the galactic commander for help regarding Spots disappearance, and she tells him that the yellow three eyed trash alien is responsible for this, Galactic Commander promptly sends Blasternaut on a mission to retrieve spot and clean up the mess that was made by the alien. And this is where the gameplay begins, the subjects range from Addition to Fractions (plus a review level) and there are six levels and four activities Trash Zapper: The first thing you need to do is collect all the trash that the alien left behind, in order to load up the zapper part, once you’ve answered 5 questions correctly you can start zapping trash, and you’ll get a 1000 point bonus if you do this perfectly, on short mission you do this 2 more times, I think you do it 5 times on long mission Number Recycler: Now that you’ve collected all the trash that the Trash Alien left behind it’s time to make some fuel. You have to make equations by pushing down on number columns with your mouse or you can move around with the arrow keys and press the spacebar to push the numbers down. You do three segments on Short Mission and you have to do it five times on Long Mission, and in the latter you have to push the equations down too, with the equations being mixed up (the columns would have the equals sign and the other math signs mixed up in a column) making the game a little more difficult than it really needs to be. And there are going to be times when you can’t seem to make any more moves and the game will tell you that and when that happens you’ll have to start over *NOTE: If you play a subject like Number Patterns or Estimation or Fractions you won’t play that subject in Number Recycler it will automatically revert to either Addition or Subtraction…because I guess the game is aware that fractions is a difficult subject for most (it can be for me I have to remember that fractions equal decimals sometimes) and they don’t have to make things frustrating (but that’s just me) Perfect! You’re fueled up and ready to chase the Trash Alien to his home planet, we get a nice cut scene of Blasternaut getting his ship started and Galactic commander wishing us luck, and then we cut away to the Trash Alien’s home planet where we see a crater open and the Trash Alien’s ship enter and Blasternaut’s ship follow before the crater closes Cave Runner: This area starts where we see the Trash Alien fly up to some caves and he has spot with him, we have to fly through caverns and crevasses but only the ones that equal the number we see on Blasternaut otherwise we hit our heads on a laser bridge (they’re more useful as bridges than entrances) get through a crevasse the first time around and get out of an area we hear a drumroll saying that we got out of there, after that we may either see some yellow gems that are worth 5000 points. But that’s not the only thing we see, there are these red bugs, and Spiders, and Boulders, and what else oh yeah Bats, and if we touch any of them we’re back at the bottom of the segment, the Boulders and the Spiderweb will block your way, and the bug and the bat are just plain in the way, how do we get these out of the way? Well whenever these obstacles show up a yellow toolbox will appear but to open it to obtain a tool to get rid of these obstacles we have to solve an equation. We will get Bug Spray to deal with the big red bug, the Scissors to get rid of the spiderweb, a hammer to destroy that boulder and a flashlight to get rid of the bat. Normally what I would do is go to the box and get all four tools at once to save us some trips. You’ll know you’ve reached the end of this area when you see some kind of thing that looks like a honey pot and then when you see a wedge then that’s the end of it (as much as I hate playing this game on long mission here is where it will be worth it because of the arcade like format, yes you can use your arrow keys too here) Math Blaster: And now we’ve come to the final game of this game. Here we have to choose the right opening the equation is showing on the Trash Aliens Spaceship. Oh btw this is the only part of the game with a ticking clock…or rather an eclipsing planet, you need to get the answer before the planet eclipses, get the answer wrong and the Planet will nullify itself, get too many answers wrong and you lose the game completely (oh don’t worry we don’t get to see Trash Alien take off with Spot you just go to the High Scores and the game starts again) now there’s a bonus round in this part of the game where you can collect red and blue gems (both worth 100 and 200 points respectively, if you play on Long Mission, Green gems will be added to the mix and they’ll be worth 300 points) in short mission you have to do the spaceship 3 times, and long mission 5 times Guess what! Hopefully you’ll have made the Trash Aliens lasers blow up and you finally enter his spaceship for real, free Spot just before the ship goes Kablooie, Blasternaut and Spot exit safely and you get a message from Galactic Commander saying Mission accomplished. The High scores pop up and since you successfully completed the game you get to print out a certificate…..that shows the developers didn’t think that the year 2000 would be a thing And that’s all there is to it.
