So when I started doing my film classic watching journey it made me consider the following: what would qualify as 90s therapy? I actually concluded in 2021 around the same time Space Jam New Legacy came out it made me want to watch Space Jam itself, and the day I watched it I heard a news story I didn't want to hear and I needed a distraction to make me escape the current mental state of why

Watching Space Jam felt right and it really did feel like 90s therapy when watching it since it was the last decade that the Looney Tunes (why is Tunes and not Toons it's been bugging me for a good long while)

Another factor in this is that the 90s was essentially a family films factory especially the ones that were released by Warner Bros Family Entertainment and Columbia/Tristar (same went for Paramount and Universal, I'm thinking outside of Disney here because that would be an answer no matter what)

I would pair Space jam up with Jumanji even if it wasn't made by the same people but like I pointed out the 90s were great for family films. Also it takes us back to a time when people weren't so reliant on the Internet and didn't show kids playing video games constantly, it was people surviving a board game (which is kind of ironic because the sequels have them inside a video game version)

So what would the third film be for the box set? I don't know maybe Matilda, maybe Madeline maybe Clueless? actually that might be perfect (though I was kind of underwhelmed when watching it) if I had seen the Baby-sitters club movie it would probably qualify as well.

This is interesting. Although some of my favorite movies came out in the 80s, some of my favorites that came out in the 90s have a sense of comfort and a very high replay value.

I remember liking Space Jam and Jumanji but I haven't seen them since I was a kid so I can't consider them for my list.

The 2 movies I would consider 90s therapy movies would be:

Hook:
This is my 3rd favorite movie of all time. I loved it as a kid because I always loved the story of Peter Pan. That's kind of how I was, I never wanted to grow up. Strangely enough though, as I get older, the movie becomes even more comfort because it allows a part of me to feel that connection to my inner child / past child. And ironically enough, the movie is about an aging Peter Pan and the movie becomes more relatable and more impactful as I get older when I watch it.

Home Alone 1 & 2:
I only watch them around Christmas time and I limit myself to watching each of them once a year but I would definitely classify them as 90s therapy.

Davideo7 : Those are very good choices Home Alone really does kick off how perfect christmas was in the 90's in a world where the Santa Clause films and Jingle All the Way exist (I consider Nightmare Before Christmas to be more of a November movie)

I haven't really watched Hook in full though, even though I have done a full playing of the coin-op game (it has yet to win my coin-op gaming poll though)

Would you say a youngster like myself could experience the 90s therapy, even though I wasn't capable of much thought until early 2000s? I'm not even quite sure what that would mean, 90s therapy, especially as a European. Are certain genres just at their best in that time period?

Furret : I actually did create this thread mostly for those that are as old as either me or David or even no8120 in mind. But surely in your case there must be some movie from the 2000s that could count as some sort of therapy for you?

If I had to pick anything from the 2000s I would have picked Josie and the p****cats it's kind of a time capsule in itself considering that Cadbury Astros aren't available in North America these days and Mr Moviefone is no longer active. Also it kind of represents a some sort of calm like before the rest of 2001 hit the fan five months after the film was released

I watched Rat Race for the first time last summer and I found myself liking it. Man I miss Whoopi Goldberg when she was in demand for movies. It's just so hard to find any positives from the 2000s because I remember a majority of it and most of it was pretty negative, I mean like the 90s it did have some positivity entertainment wise that the decade had to offer but this was when I started to remember news stories
