I picked myself up an E-reader awhile ago and it got me thinking about all the various types there are out there. I ended up going with a Kobo Clara Colour. It offers way more freedom than any Kindle device and it was a cheaper option than some of the other color E-reader offerings out there. I like it because it lets me put any epub, pdf, or certain other file types I want onto it directly from my computer. I can even share the files to it over Calibre with a local server.

Anyway, I want to know if anyone else here has an E-reader or even multiple and which models they chose and why.

When I first got into anime and manga near the end of 2021, I wanted a reader that I could use exclusively for manga and light novels so for Black Friday I paid around $50 for a Fire HD 8 and a case. Since it's a kindle, it came with easy access to all the books I already had from Amazon but I was also able to add whatever else I had easily I PDF or epub plus I would watch anime on it every now and then.

My dad has been trying to buy me a kindle for like 10 years now lol but I just don't want one. I like books. I like the feeling of holding a book in my hand, I like turning the pages, I like displaying them on book shelves. And I spend enough time staring at screens already. I definitely understand the appeal, and the convenience of having all of your books in one device. But it's not my preference.

The display still works well enough for black and white stuff too so it's nice. I just saw how Amazon has been removing books from people's libraries lately and removing features like being able to locally download your books and all that so I just avoided Kindles like the plague.

The E-ink is a lot easier on the eyes so it helps me quite a bit. I ended up reading Coraline on the thing the day I got it, just read the entire book in one sitting. First book I read in probably a decade lol.

I bought a Kindle Paperwhite on sale during Black Friday 2023 (I think). I've used it a fair bit, but not recently. Like tgags, I prefer reading physical books when I can. Recently, I've been listening to my backlog of audiobooks through Audible, so I haven't used my Kindle in a few months. With Prime Day coming up soon, I'm sure some titles I want will be on sale, so I might consider getting them on my Kindle. That'll definitely give me a reason to pick it back up again.
