Magic is as real as Jesus and God

It would be cool if you had magic on hands, but that's not true though...
Now, magic tricks are all about you knowing where do you put that thing and where you get that thing to make the magic.

I dont think true magic is real,but there are magical things all around us.

water to wine, bringing the dead to life, visions , walking on water, parting the sea, all these things and much more can be considered magic. you call them miracles but there is no difference becouse a miracle is a great event that cant be explained by the laws of nature. the church itself has sects that beleive in the use of white magic aka christian witchcraft. i am not trying to bash your religion or anything so if i offend you in this next part im sorry.

christians who are judgemental who are willing to state that what they know nothing about is evil, in particular magic, are hipocrits, as stated above there are many things that could be considered magic.

as for modern day magic, i can name one for sure, they are your everyday doctors, who in the dark ages were considered wizards and sorcerers .

Magic, as in the magician you see on stage pulling a rabbit out of a hat... no, that is fake. Impressive, but fake.

Magick, directing the flow of energy to achieve a goal (be it through prayer, meditation, spells, or whatever)... yes, I do believe it is real. Partially because it is a big part of my faith, and because I have used it myself. How? I use it to heal and to protect. Is it as strong as in the stories? No. I cannot mend breaks, I cannot turn people into frogs, but I can relieve pain if only for awhile. Christians call it faith healing... I will admit that it is in part psychosomatic, but there are things at work that I cannot explain.

Science today is what was magic yesterday for the most part, as others have said. In the past, the healers, midwives, herbalists... they were all considered "witches". We know better now.

So, is magic real? I guess that would depend on your definition of magic.

My neighbor had me convinced that he could levitate when I was like 7-8. But then I saw something on TV on how to make it look like you can levitate. And it was exactly what my neighbor used to do. You just need to stand a certain angle and have a dim lighting.

Magic is as real as you believe it is.

Magic is just the power of suggestion, in my opinion. If you believe in something strong enough, it can have a "magical" effect, doing something uncommon or not normally possible.

A friend of mine who's a witch was goofing around and drew a banishing circle in my direction as a joke, but then we got in a fight a bit more than an hour later over absolutely nothing but for some reason I felt like I had to leave her house. I didn't really believe in Witch stuff all that much then, but it is a pretty strange coincidence.

good question....hm, I don't necessarily believe in magic...but that guy chris angel, i think he is truly blessed with magical abilities and an angel from god. but yes I do think things like that are possible and true...

Well I got the magic in me! I don't like that song much. Anyway I do think that magic is fake. Magic is just camera tricks or sleight of hand I don't think that real magic exists.

Yes! I believe in magic, especially in magic that exists between people who help one another.

Falling in love for one could be magic

A great illusionist could be seen to perform magic when its just the trick of the eye carried out by a very skilled magician (illusionist)

Being good at something could be seen to me magic, I have seen some pretty skilled pool players in my time and they do things with the ball that I could consider magical.

so 'magic' as it could be called is a matter of perspective and belief in some cultures they use magic instead of or to compliment what we would consider more orthodox religion and in this context they really do believe that miracles do occur and this is because a certain person has magical powers imbued in them by a god.

I do love this topic, as I used to study a little theology and sociology at school and we had debates like this all the time.

I would like to finish this post by saying that there is at least a million dollar reward being given out to anybody who can demonstrate a real act of magic, if it truly is an act of magic and cannot be reproduced by more conventional scientific means then there is an onagisation that will pay out. They are not kidding or trying to fool anyone, they genuninely want to find a real act of magic. So far out of the many thousands of people who have applied not one so called magic act has turned out to be caused by magic at all.

A lot of what appears magic is down to probability to, given the massive expanse and size of the universe anything is possible.

Just think what our ancestors would have thought of moving images on a computer, due to their belief system and lack of knowledge they would have thought us magicians and burnt us or drowned us as witches.

To say whether or not magic is real, we need to actually understand what magic is. I myself, believe that certain kinds of magic are real and the others are just fantasy, Final Fantasy lol.

Magic is as real as Criss Angel MINFREAK! He's more than a magician...he's a fallen angel from heaven blessed with the abilities to do REAL magic through faith....I believe it.

People can be trained to do things that seem like magic, but it's all science really.
Everything has a logical explanation and if you've ever watched the show with the guy in the mask,
You'd see how all "magic tricks" will be revealed as something so simple.

first of all, let's define "magic"...

well.
illusional tricks performed by some 3rd class las vegas magician are not really magic to me. strictly speaking, they fool the audience. but as everyone knows it's all just an illusion, so it's ok, as long it's entertaining anyway. it is just called "magic". nothing more.

if we define magic as a kind of "autosuggestion", it is really powerful and indeed very real. psychology even works with things like "faith will move mountains" sometimes and the medical industry produces tons of placebos that really work and harm nobody. ain't this kind of magic,... when people get cured just by believing in the helpfulness of some little pills? and it's proven and logically explainable. but does this disenchant the "magic" in it?

in my opinion, real magic happens all around us every day. whenever someone really falls in love, whenever we meet someone really nice, have a good time, whenever someone who's terminally ill suddenly regenerates, whenever people are simply really happy, whenever the worst sadness can be overcome if you believe in it... all this is apparently really kind of magic, no?

If you mean witchcraft, yes. Just talk to actual practicers of it. Magicians and people who practice witchcraft are completely different things. People can train themselves to learn different things involving the mind. Not sure if this counts, but it could be a form of magic in this case. Here's one example of this kind of stuff: Psi-Balls. Look them up.

There's also the idea of the existence of white magic, which is what is used by Wiccans, I think. There's many other things involving the supernatural that exist. The dream catcher in my room could actually work for all we know... If it does, man, it sure likes to let the nightmares stay.

Criss Angel is a Christian, but his tricks are illusion. He is an illusionist. He could also be classed as an escape artist or stuntman to some extent, too.

i believe in witch craft and stuff but anyone who does that stuff in front of a camera is a fake. i doubt a witch would want to be on tv and anyone blessed with the power of miracles wouldnt be showing it off.

I personally do not believe magic of any sort is real. Witchcraft is the closest thing to magic and that I'm quite iffy on too.

In reality? Yes. In this hallucination I'm currently trapped in? Not in the slightest.
