You can trade pokemon to Pokemon Crystal from certain versions that have appeared after it (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald); however, you can only trade pokemon and attacks compatible with Crystal. For example, you can't trade a Kyogre to Crystal version or a pokemon that knows a Hoenn attack (like a Typhlosion that knows blaze kick). You would have to delete the incompatible moves before the trade.

It is actually impossible to trade from Ruby, Sapphire, etc to Crystal, Silver, etc because the GBA / DS games store data differently then the GB / GBC games do.
