What are your thoughts on how the Video Game Awards have turned out lately? I remember a time where celebrities would talk about it a ton on media and there would be so many cool announcements alongside the awards but I feel like the last few years have felt so bland (and corporate)

This year I skimmed through the video with a friend after work and there were so many commercials for sponsored ads of mobile games and it felt like there was just so much pointless talking. It's starting to feel like all the big reveals and awards can fill up 40.miniyes but Geoff is trying to do way too much.

I stopped caring about the game awards several years back. They show no respect to the developers and force ads down our throats, and on top of it all, like most other awards shows, the game that should win GOTY doesn’t get it a majority of the time. Also Dave the Diver was nominated for the “Best Independent Game” in 2023. After seeing that, I knew that I’d never care about that phony awards show again.
