The DSi XL measures 6.34 x 3.6 x 0.83", 1.61x the total volume of the DSi, and 1.48x the volume of the DS Lite. It weighs 314 grams, compared to the DSi's 214g, the DS Lite's 218g and the original DS' 300g.

In other words, its a giant ds. Personally I think the idea is dumb. Its bulky and I think it defeats the purpose of the ds in the first place. Its meant to be portable. and a Ds that big would be hard to lug everywhere.

For those of you who think its cool, it comes out tomorrow. So yeah. I'd like to hear your opinions on Nintendo's newest system.

I can't say that I enjoy the idea of the DSi in general, since with the removal of the Gameboy port in the bottom half (they said thay wanted to make in thinner), they completely removed the fun from games like MegaMan Battle Network 5: Double Team DS and the MegaMan: StarForce series, cuz they actually REQUIRE Gameboy compatability to unlock their best secrets. I know there's others besides the MegaMan series, but I can't think of em. Plus, who wants to carry around a giant DSi? The original DS was enough to weigh my jacket pocket down...

Indeed. You'd think with the bigness of the DSiXL they'd put the gba feature back on it but they don't.

I think it is a waste on time and a waste of money because what is wrong with just a regular DSi. You don't need a bigger DS to have a better experience. People who buys them are buying them because they like to show off. The DS are just good as they are, small, fun, and portable.
With the big ones, it would be difficult to put in your pockets. (Thats what I do with mine ) Anyways, like the saying, The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall.

The stupidest part? All games out now will be somewhat fuzzy and bad-looking due to the screen size being almost twice what they're designed for. I'm not wasting my money on that piece of junk .

And yes, cweie, you will need an original or a DS Lite to play Guitar Hero, that's one of the reasons they're still making DS Lites, because games like Pokemon, MM BN and SF, Shrek Super Slam (even though that's just alternate costumes), and such make use of the dual slot. They even put Migrating in HG/SS, so they're still supporting DS Lite. But XL is taking it too far, especially with the 3DS supposedly coming out next year. A new system every year? I wish Nintendo was as dedicated to long handheld life as they are to long home console life .

I like my DS lite, it's still pretty big but you can fit it in your pocket. The original DS was pretty massive, and I don't think a bigger one is a good idea. Who knows, maybe someone will buy it.

It's actually meant to be a DS for seniors. They don't increase the screen resolution, meaning that the games won't look any better on the new screens - they'll actually look worse because of the larger screens.

Also, the original DS isn't that heavy. I own one, the only DS I own. No where near as heavy as the original PSP.

Just found out that the battery is way bigger too, giving you an average of almost fourteen hours of battery life each charge compared to the original DSi's almost ten-ish. Haha. So thats a good thing, cuz mine was always on red. But now that doesnt matter, cuz my DS broke. Grr!

I am happy with my DS Lite thank you. For people that don't have a DS yet, they might appreciate the choice of a bigger screen. There isn't much to talk about though.

DSi XL is probably the dumbest idea for a gaming system I've ever seen. It's a big DSi... big deal. Unless you've messed up your vision playing the DSi you really dont need to buy this thing.

It's kind of pointless how they just get rid of the good stuff of the DS Lite like the GBA backwards compatibility and the size of which was meant to be for portability. It's almost like how they have the PSPGo, they have the UMD which is some pretty nice technology but then they just start encouraging downloading full games anyway and ditching the UMDs...

i think that it is pointless because you still cant watch videos on the DSi no youtube or anything unless some of you hackers now how to fix that(plz let me know). If they wanted to do that they should of kept the original sized DSi and just make the screen bigger not the whole thing, its not like the screen was maxed out in the DSi anyways

It's not worth it because if you already had a DS or a DS Lite or a DSi, then you're basically getting the same exact features from either DS's features. The only difference would be the viewing purposes and the super large stylus (or pen) and the fact that it's 20 bucks more than a regular DSi. Besides, a week before they released the DSi XL, they announced that they would be making a new DS, the 3DS, which doesn't require 3-D glasses.
