I'm old enough to remember the WGA strike of 2007, back then social media was in it's infancy but streaming, well back then you could watch stuff on the tv network websites as Netflix was just a dvd delivery service at the time (as of this year they no longer do that)

I remember that it was bad enough that most of the shows that premiered in the fall of 2007 had to have their seasons cut short, some didn't resume at all, but some shows came out of it alive (like the Big Bang Theory) but the strike caused the Golden Globes to be relegated to some kind of televised Press Conference where they announced the winners, right now the Daytime emmys are delayed (which is kind of a shame because all it took was a pandemic to get it back on network tv)

I kind of imagine that there's going to be a jump in Dancing with the Stars and Masked Singer participations (even though there are enough people that competed on both shows to fill a You Don't Know Jack Dis or Dat? where all the answers would be both)

I do not follow a lot of Hollywood nor do I watch a lot of shows. I mainly watch baseball and football. However, I remember in 2007 how a strike like this everything came to a halt. Movies stopped production, a lot of shows stopped production, and no new material was produced until the strike was other.

In terms of daily life will this impact me. Nope not at all. However, if your a fan of movies, and shows. This could get very bad. It has already gotten ugly with all parties involved name calling one another and blaming each other.

This does not seem to be nowhere near to being resolved anytime soon. Therefore, movies that are being made for the fall or winter months will probably be stopped until this gets resolved. It also seems like shows will not resume production.

I think this could be worse than 2007. As you mentioned social media was just starting back in 2007. Now there are several social media sites. Already all parties are attacking the other parties on social media trying to draw support. That is why this could be more ugly. The more name calling and pointing fingers the less likely this is to get resolved.

I actually found this on facebook that a friend shared this morning, further proving that this could really effect awards season (except maybe the music award shows....unless they do the presenting) and this is a shame because it looked like Margot Robbie had fun playing Dress up with the Barbie outfits at all the promotional events
