Hey Vizzed community!

I've been enjoying my time here, and I absolutely love the site and its features. However, I have a few suggestions that I think would make the site even better. Here are my four suggestions:

Newbie Thread Limit: Currently, newbies can only make one thread per day. I understand the need to prevent spam, but it would be great if this limit could be increased slightly to encourage more participation from newcomers.

HTML Emoji Compatibility: I often use HTML emojis in my messages, but when I try to use them here, they usually turn into a bunch of question marks. It would be awesome if the site could be made compatible with HTML emojis. For reference, you can find them here: https://www.w3schools.com/charsets/ref_emoji.asp

Private Message Bug: There seems to be a bug with the private message system. My brother and I both received a message notification from the user 'pokemon x', but when we checked our inboxes, there was nothing there. It would be great if this issue could be resolved.

User Picture Display on Profiles: I've noticed that user pictures weird on profiles. It would be nice if the way user pictures are displayed could be improved.

That's all for now! Overall, Vizzed is an incredible website, and I'm genuinely enjoying all of its features and functionality. I'll be sure to share more suggestions in the future as I continue to explore the site. Thank you for considering my ideas, and happy gaming!

Remember when most things worked fine in 2013 before the site code update?

Some things that stopped working did so because of API changes. For example, the streamer page, youtube uploader, etc.

Some things never got finished or fixed due to the time constraints I had. I had to get a full time job not long after starting that project. But even then, I was still working on the site 40 hours a week, while having a separate full time job, for quite a few years.

I think this is a good opportunity to briefly remind everyone why the site had to be upgraded.

Better Security: The old site code had so many exploits. It was pretty easy to hack it. Additionally, a lot of the code was using original Acmlm Board code, which means that anyone could get their hands on the source code and reverse engineer it in order to find vulnerabilities.

Mobile Friendly: The old site layout was not mobile friendly at all. So many more people use mobile devices now days compared to years ago. Also, search engines severely penalize a site for not being mobile friendly.

SEO Friendly: The old pages weren't optimized for search engines. This means the location of the content on the pages, the way the content is displayed, the page titles, etc.. it all needed to be changed. Also, as mentioned above, its lack of mobile friendliness was hurting the site and I was constantly getting alerts in my Google Webmaster Tools.

Faster Code = Less Server Strain: The old site code had a lot of poorly written code or code that could be better optimized. Between the inefficient code, poor or repetitive SQL queries, the site was slower than it needed to be and that strain also meant I had to spend more on server fees. The new code allowed me to cut the server fees by a lot.

Consistent Layout: The old code didn't really have a consistent layout, which made it difficult to navigate the site for new users. A lot of the pages weren't loading their layout from a universal location, which means that every time I wanted to update a page with the old site code, I often times had to make the update in a lot of different locations.

Quicker Updates: The new code was created in a way where I wouldn't have to spend as much time creating, fixing or updating new features. Making updates it's more than 2 times faster because of the new site code.

That's not everything, but those are the things that are worth pointing out without making this post too big.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
