Do you have any weird or silly fears? Ones that you cant really explain or may appear to be dumb to others?

my big one is that I'm terrified of the theft detector things at stores. I also have a small fear of going into banks that aren't my own and trying to withdraw money from the ATM.

Generally I don't really have that huge of fears. I tend to overthink the small things at times and really overworks my brain, though probably for me one of the biggest things I fear is being in a mascot costume or covered in latex and not being able to take it off.

I wouldn't say I'm claustrophobic but in situations where my body is literally covered from head to toe in some sort of material that isn't my own that isn't removable is just such a scary thought and really gets at me.

I remember that, as a child, I used to be scared that if I look in a mirror, I could see something completely horrific. This feeling was amped up when I was alone. It has mostly gone away now, though.

I have traditional fears such as I can be afraid of tight spaces. I also do not like deep water.

As for an outrageous fear that is hard to explain.

I generally get a little nervous around children under the age of 6. When I got to a restaurant I'm afraid I'm going to be seated with a bunch of children under the age of 6 that scream constantly non stop.

But here is the thing though it may not be so much a fear as it is sensory. I have high functioning Autism. Loud sounds like screaming kids bother me.

I HATE balloons popping. What's weird is that I didn't even know I had this problem (I don't remember popping balloons every bothering me when I was a kid) until I worked as a substitute teacher and I supervised a class setting up activities for a school carnival. One of the activities was one of those "pop the balloons for a prize" games, and they kept popping the balloons both accidentally and on purpose and dear GOD, it was so nerve-wrecking that I was still shaking after I got home. So yeah, now I stay far, far away from balloons as much as I can. Even the squeaky sound that balloons make when someone plays with them makes me nervous because there's the possibility that the pop will follow.

I’m afraid of open water. Well to be more specific, I get into a state of panic whenever a wave hits me on the face or I’m floating around open water and my face gets hit, causing me to flail. I’m not sure why I do it or what causes me to get into this state of panic but the weird part is I love being around beaches. I love swimming, I love being submerged in water up to my neck but whenever my face gets splashed at and I’m like neck deep that’s when my body reacts. Pffft even when I shower I breathe heavily when my whole body (face and all) gets under the shower head or I just wash my face with my whole body out of the stream of water coming out.

Like I said I’m not sure why I react like this. I don’t know if I could control it one day but yeah….

I don’t have any major fears, but I do have a bunch of icks that sometimes come across as fears. For example, I hate cutting my finger nails. I absolutely despise the sensitive sensation when I cut them too short. As a young child I used to let them grow as long as possible before clipping them shorter. I still have some low level anxiety when I go to clip them, but it is definitely a much smaller issue now that I’ve grown older.
