What do you guys think of Tom Holland playing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie? I heard so many people hating on that idea ever since the trailer was released.

I did agree with that for a while, but the trailer makes it look like the movie takes place when Nathan meets Sully for the first time, which was when he was 15. So I'm kind of okay with it.

My theory is that since Mark Wahlberg was originally cast as Nathan, I'm guessing they had a different original plotline for the movie but chose to keep that for another game and shifted to a sort of origin story.

I understand they were going for a "young Drake" but Tom Holland feels way outta depth. His comments last year about his biggest regret while filming was that he was always focused on looking cool. While the trailer (especially the end) was pretty engaging, I think we need to wait for it to release to have a solid idea of whether or not it's gonna pay off.

I'm hopeful, and I, unlike others, am convinced that the age of consistently awful game movies is over. Uncharted would make a great movie, and they hit the right spot in the story for the cast they picked, it just seems like a strange pick, unless we get an entire series out of this that Tom Holland will be a lifelong part of. Seems like Sony doesn't have many actors to pull.

alexanyways : I’m sure that the movie is going to look fantastic, even for a video game movie, but I think that since they’re leaning towards a new original story that might not have been in the games, that can lead to issues with the kinds of liberties that they take with what they add or remove. Kind of like what happened with the Monster Hunter movie.
