Picking a favorite game soundtrack is hard I mean music is all subjective but for me I love gaming soundtracks normally more than I like music on the radio so I really had to think to pick one to rule them all. I had a few contenders in my head before starting which are Persona 5, Sonic Heroes, Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3, and Mario Kart Double Dash. I'll get the 2 easier ones to eliminate out of the way first while I love Sonic Heroes and Double Dash to death their soundtracks are definitely held up some by nostalgia. Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 has a killer soundtrack using music from all 3 Budokai games however the thing that keeps me from wanting to call it my favorite soundtrack is just how much of the music is plagiarized. Persona 5 the obvious choice right? well Life Will Change might be my favorite song in all of gaming but I don't know if that alone can make me say Persona 5 has my favorite of all time gaming soundtrack if Royal could count it would easily get it when you get to include songs like Take Over it'd be pretty hard to say no but since the soundtrack is only considered the songs added in Royal I can't call it my favorite either. Therefore the only thing it could be is... Super Smash Bros Ultimate even if I think it's really cheating I mean let's be real but I'm counting it cause it's my thread getting some of the best songs from some of my favorite series even if I'm still upset that Life Will Change didn't get into smash but was in Joker's reveal trailer.

well if I had to pick anything and depending on the format, I guess I would say, Streets of Rage for Console and Where in the World Deluxe from the mid 90s and where in the USA since both games use folk music in their soundtrack

So much so that a good chunk of the USA soundtrack is in my MP3 (though I had to rely on using VLC to turn the tracks into MP3's to get them on my MP3 because a majority of the music is out of print, heck there are a couple of artists that I know of that are dead)

I've always seemed to go back and listen to the Metal Gear Solid soundtracks, particularly Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater. It might just be because I've spent so much time on those games, plus the fact that they got a proper Hollywood composer to create that music just makes it really stand out.

Though, lately I've been listening to the Intelligent Qube soundtrack, because the music on that is way too epic for a puzzle game, but it still sounds great. The songs in those games could be placed into a RPG and you wouldn't bat an eye.

For me I'll probably go with Persona 5 also. Most games outside of like Pokemon have one or two main iconic songs but the rest of the soundtrack is average or good but with P5, there's more songs throughout the soundtrack that are really good. There's a decent number of songs that are either great, fun, or catchy.

Right now my new favorite soundtrack is the one for Fire Emblem Three Houses. I still love the soundtrack for Persona 5, but it was like 4 or 5 songs tht I loved, while with the Three Houses one, there was many more that I liked. The soundtrack features a bunch of songs that's either fun, epic, or dramatic and easily more than a dozen that I fell in love with quickly. Though, it also does help that the soundtrack has well over 100 songs, so there were plenty of options.

My favourite video game soundtrack currently would probably be Final Fantasy X because while there are multiple that I find very memorable and love a lot this soundtrack from my favourite game of all time has a special place in my heart and frankly, it always will be there aren't many games I go out of my way to hear the OSTs of but this is definitely one of the games that I go out of my way for. If it helps at all I was between Persona 5 Royal and either NieR Replicant or Automata.

Tough question! I instinctively wanted to say Final Fantasy XVI, but I'll back away from that one because while all the Eikon fights have incredible music, everything else is just "pretty good" at best. That game has INCREDIBLE highs but mediocre lows. I kinda feel similarly about Expedition 33 too.

But even then, there's a lot of games that are on highs the whole time... I'll cast three votes: Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Final Fantasy XIV, Metal Gear Rising: Revengenace. Picking just one of out these three is basically asking me to put a gun to my head!
