Ever since starting a full time job outside of Vizzed nearly 5 years ago, I haven't been able to prioritize reading / responding to my Private Messages. Even before that, I often got behind on my PMs. So as you can imagine, I have years worth of PMs to read and respond to, totalling literally 1000s of PMs. I've usually made it a habit of skimming through my PM inbox and reading the PMs which have titles that seem important but sometimes I've even failed to do that.

While I'm going through my inbox, I will respond to any Private Messages that I receive during this process. My goal is to get caught up by summer 2021 (before it ends anyway). Afterward, I'll begin working on my Notifications. I hope to be caught up with everyone before the year ends. I feel terrible that it's taken me this long but I've been the only developer for many years and development related stuff is time consuming and things have come up so often over the years that I have no other choice but to prioritize coding. Life outside the internet also sometimes gets in the way with various life issues coming up from time to time. And with having a wife and kids, there's only so much time in a week to juggle all of these things (for example, I rarely game and haven't done much gaming in the past 6+ years due to just not having the time).

I'll be reading / responding to PMs in order of newest first.

PMs Up to Date Progress:
December 2016

PMs Read (roughly):
1500+

PMs Replied (roughly):
300

It's already been almost 5 years since you had to start working full time? That's honestly crazy I can remember when you first posted about that and wondering how the site would be with you working full time, crazy how time flies. I definitely don't envy you I can't imagine how many pms you get relating to every possible thing on the site and any issues someone runs into even if your not the best staff member to msg about it.

I wonder if you'll find anything from me in there. I recall getting locked out of my account some years back. This is sure to be interesting regardless.

Good luck David, I hope they get more manageable after you're caught up.

pennylessz : It'll be depressing to read through Private Messages from years ago. Users asking for help that no longer need it. Users offering me support or compliments that no longer use the site. But yeah, don't be surprised if you see a few replies from me over the course of a few months.

I'll definitely be feeling a lot of shame while going through my Private Messages.

SonicOlmstead : I feel like my life has gone by way to fast over the past 5 years and that I missed out on a lot of stuff. Not just missing out on site related stuff and the site community but also missing out on family events and not getting to share special moments with my kids.

I had initially got a job on weekends so that I could continue working on the site during the week. Since I work three 12-hour days a week on the weekend, it gives me 4 days off. When I'm home during the week, it's while my wife is at work and while my kids are doing their school work (this year they're home schooled but last year and the year before they were in public school) so when I'm not helping my kids with stuff, I have time to work on the site which is only possible because of my special hours.

I had only ever got a job in a factory because the job is in town (like 6 minute drive), the hours work out, and I didn't want a computer job since that would affect my motivation on the site. If I was working 40+ hours a week at a computer job, I'd either me too burnt out to work on the site during the weekend or just physically sore from being on a computer too much. With that said, I might finally pursue a job in programming. It'd help me keep my skills sharp, I'd be getting paid to do what I am qualified to do, I'd be finally utilized and I'd have a huge pay increase (honestly though, money isn't that big of a perk and I only care to earn enough to get by, I'm not a big spender).

Anyways, if I did get a computer job, it'd unfortunately mean my time on the site would be greatly dropped (from like 20+ hours a week on average to less than 10 hours a week) so I'm hoping to get caught up with everything on the site before that happens.

Been having fun responding to messages veteran users have sent me over the past year. I have such shame having to wait so long to read/reply to them.

Been taking care of a lot of account deletion requests.

I'm down to April of 2020 now. So about a year worth taken care of so far. I'm making decent progress although it'll start to slow down as I get closer to the more active years of VIzzed since there will be more messages to read and respond to. Some I wont bother if the request is outdated or if the user is long gone.

Staff : I've moved some PMs to the staff inbox. Would be great if some users could take care of them for me to save me some time

Davideo7 : I would like to help with it, I will be around if need.
pennylessz : if they message you about that, if the problem is gone. I think they need a full understanding why, like the person has left.

I've been making really good progress. I've already sent nearly 250 Private Messages in the past few weeks and I've read well over 1000 Private Messages so far. I'm at August of 2017 now.

pennylessz : Thanks. Honestly I need that kind of support. I have attention issues and so it's pretty difficult to stay focused for many hours at a time going through all of it.

Making the announcement lets people know why I might be responding to incredibly old messages. It also helps keep me accountable

Kind of impressive to see how much progress you've made. It's definitely no easy endeavor given their sheer number.

It's also good to showcase how quickly can you tackle things once you focus your mind and time on them, it serves as proof against those who don't fathom the massive work you do behind the scenes.

Looks like you can get caught up with this even before summer starts, so let's go for it. It's always a relief to see that what you thought would take you long ends up not taking that much, and I'm sure you're in need of such relief for once.

I completely understand the attention issue thing. My email inbox has over 50,000 emails. I don't think I'm ever clearing that out...May as well just delete all.

I'm at December of 2016.

EX Palen : I might take a screenshot once I'm done that shows just how many PMs I read and sent lol.

The average PM probably consumes 2 minutes of my time. Some PMs require me to take care of things, some do not. Some require a response, while others do not. 2 minutes though is probably a good estimated average amount of time per a PM.

I just hope I don't get burned out to the point where it hurts to go through them lol. I'll probably take a week long break from it from time to time, just to avoid that happening. Because once that happens, it could be months before I continue.

A lot of the work I tend to do on the site is beyond the scenes type stuff. There's no recognition for a lot of it unfortunately.
