Yesterday, the official SNK account in Twitter posted an announcement that the company was working on a brand new console.

The tweet states that it will be "a system to bridge the needs between passionate fans and console gaming enthusiasts". From this, we can agree that it's not a console that pursues the top-notch graphics of PS5 or the next-gen Xbox model (easier to say than it's actual name lol) and could actually be relatively low-priced compared to its competitors.

The system is expected to hit stores in 2021. Quite the good news after Slightly Mad Studios gave up on their console (or did they?), but also a project kept very much in secret up until this approach to Christmas. It's not stated when exactly can we expect it to arrive, so we should stay tuned for news maybe in early January, when KOF 15 will be officially presented.

For those who follow SNK this was actually not surprising, as back in early August 2019 they announced a successor to the NeoGeo Mini, and in fact said the Mini could be connected to this new system. It's not confirmed yet if this old tweet remains true, but I'm inclined to think it is, giving us further hints at the new console as that tweet said to expect a NeoGeo with a modern design.

Anyone hyped for this? I am somewhat hyped, but details are so scarce at the moment that it's hard to say anything.
