If you have an old Wii, during the pandemic it could be one of the coolest things to play around with.
Granted nowadays a stock Wii, isn't that useful. Being that the Wii Shop, and other services have been discontinued. Bout the only thing you could play is Wii Games and GC games if you have an older model.
Though nowadays a hacked Wii has uses that far exceed the use it has nowadays in ways you might not of thought.
Such things such as playing old Wii games online again with Wiimmfi, or bringing back WiiConnect24 for stuff like the Forecast and News Channel.
Even more interesting is the fact that you can play GameCube games on a newer model lacking GC support, and use something like a classic controller or usb controller to play them, giving those who have those models a whole library they didn't have before.
Finally the best reason to hack a Wii is the fact of how easy it is. All you need is an SD card, and even if you have the absolute unit of the Wii Mini, you can hack that too (With reduced compatibility but eh).
Nowadays the only way to get the most out of your old Wii is to hack it, as it reenables stuff that isn't here anymore.
Being that a Wii is so old, it's also pretty cheap, a good condition unit is about $70-80 for just the console and a Wiimote. Give yourself a HDMI adapter for like $5 or so and an SD card, you'll be going good. Or if you're good at scoring deals, maybe $50 or less.
The Wii is rad, and is a neat time killer during the pandemic.
