Are there any fans of Percy Jackson here? (The books, nobody liked the movies)

Well after years of rumors, today it was finally confirmed that Disney is working on a Disney+ series with author Rick Riordan involved.

Currently expected to last at least 5 seasons, one season for each book of the main series.

Thoughts? Excitement?

I'd be interested in this. I wasn't a big fan of the movies when they came out. I feel like they could have been done a lot better.

I generally enjoyed the story that was told and if done properly could be a good show. Hopefully they make the story fit the episodes rather than trying to stretch it out into a certain number of episodes. I hate when the source material is expanded to make more episodes.

I might read this series with my girls if the show comes out soonish and is decent.

geeogree : I doubt it would be out any time soon. Even if they wanted to begin filming, they obviouly can't, and a season would most likely be around 6 to 8 hours of content, so filming and development would probably take close to a year.

Minuano : Just a few days ago Riordan gave an update on Twitter saying that the most optimistic outlook puts the show at 2 years away.

One cool thing I noticed around 2 weeks ago was that when the show was released, nearly all Rick Riordan stuff started being discounted as a little promotion for people to get back into his stuff.

I ended up buying a ton of ebooks from Amazon because it was too good to be true. The full graphic novels for all Percy Jackson books and Kane Chronicles were just 99 cents each and all books that take place in his world but are by different authors were only $1.99 each. I'd say that's a great marketing ploy.
