I started with playing RPG's and now im playing a lot of MMORPG but i think u can't really compare these two types of games, cause i became addictet to both of them and im playing Age of Conan right now and there is a lot of story plus u got open pvp.

Hmmm I like both games but i enjoy playing with a lot of people, talk at teamspeak and stuff like that, so i would say MMORPG's got the advantage.

I want to say MMO's are better, but the issue is that there aren't a lot of good ones out there that catch my interest. The idea behind MMO's is good: you usually get a huge world to explore and people to explore it with. Unfortunately, since people sign up at different times for it, there's usually no way you can get a story out of it. It's even hard to meet friends in MMO's because people are stuck in their little groups and newbies have no way of knowing what's going on. So that's why I like RPG's better. And you can go through them at your own pace without being called a noob for just signing up.

i got addicted to mmo's for ages but even the best ones (in my opinion) like maplestory that had good communities and nice socialisation stuffs didnt really have any storyline. The thing with mmo's is they keep updating themselves until finally its a completly different game.

real rpg's i find obviously cant update themselves, have a brilliant storyline and have alot of thought put into it, it obviously lacks the social capabilities but we have vizzed for that now.

In conclusion i think rpg's are alot better Final Fantasy can take a dump all over Maplestory anyday

I would have to choose MMORPG's. Because with MMORPG's you get to play with people from all over the world. Also MMORPG's can get updated, and new things can get added to them. Like The Lord of the Rings Online, there are constantly new things being added to it, so things don't always stay same old, same old.

It depends on the games themselves and what you are looking for in a game. Let's just say that you have to make a choice between two games that have the same core game play and are completely equal. If you want to just buy the game and play it on your T.V on your console alone without being bother by all the online idiots, then get the RPG. But if you are in the mood to have a certain amount of interaction with other people and your computer and Internet meet the game's system requirements, then get the MMORPG. I prefer an MMORPG over an RPG because it just feels more free. I don't feel like I am contained inside a pre-made story and I have the freedom to break free from any kind of preset destination. I get to talk with people and make friends. The problem for me though is that my current computer (laptop) is not a good gaming computer. It's a decent computer don't get me wrong but it only has 1.6 gigahertz. Most online games, especially 3D ones require at least 2.0 gigahertz to run efficiently, and because of this, even though my Internet is good the games I play are very laggy. Once I get a better computer though, I will be able to play MMORPGs to my heart's content. And yes, I'm well aware of the fact that this gen's console games can connect to the Internet to interact with other people, but it depends on the kind of game, and it's usually just not the same as being on a MMORPG.

An MMORPG seems to have a different field to it, it has different gameplay online than the regular RPG. MMORPG wins my vote.

I like RPG's more because some MMORPG games can get really overcrowded.

I like them both, it really just depends on each individual game. RPG's are good for endless possibilities, with no spamming and they generally run better. MMORPG's are great for playing with friends and stuff.

As much fun as I have had and will probably continue to have playing MMORPGs, I think that there are just too many inherent problems in their construction, particularly in the post-WoW era, that simply make them eventually less fun than an RPG. Obviously, as with almost all things, there are exceptions.

For example, unless you have something really, really, really sells well (for example World of Warcraft) the games servers are going to eventually become empty ghost towns because everyone has moved on to the next shiny new MMO. Or, the game falls into the cycle of 'Why are you playing for 8 hours at a time? To get better stuff! Oh... Ok. Why do you need better stuff? To get the really, really good items!!' which swiftly boils the user-base down to the strange life forms that occupy the twilight zone.

For me, its just not enough to be told 'If you want these reaaaalllly awesome items you've gotta play for This Long and be THAT awesome at XdX' especially when it starts feeling like work.

i prefer MMORPGS.. but i am picky.. i have to like the graphics and the feel of game play and by far the only one i have gotten both from is WoW... I like actually having a guild to help e along the way and to also help out newbies. Rpgs bore me fast because of the lack of socialization.
