Basically, are the sequels better than the originals? Like Zelda: Ocarina of time and Majora's mask, was Majora's mask actually better than Ocarina of time? Most people certainly don't say so. So, in your opinion, which one is better, The originals or the follow ups?

I think you're mixing up your terms.
When talking about a game and it's sequel, the first game isn't called a prequel.
To use your example, Zelda: TOoT is not a prequel to Majora's mask, just the "original" or "game before it in the series".
A prequel is actaully something that is released after the original that happens before the events shown in the original.
For example Star Wars episode 1. This falls under the category "prequel"

Like I would say Super Metroid might be better then the orginal Metroid but I would say Sonic 3 is probally better then Sonic Heroes.

I loved XenoSaga on the PS2, but I think the sequels were way better, and XenoSaga being a good game already, the sequels were amazing. Every game the storyline got more interesting and in depth and they would completely rehaul the battle system and the way you develop your characters. In my opinion, each system was better than the one before, but all of them were amazing. Most games that come to mind have the sequels being better, as the game makers learned what worked and what didn't because of the original, except for some cases when it feels like they just forced the sequel out to make more money, which I felt was the case in Suikoden V, which was alright, but Suikoden IV was amazing, and better than Suikoden III.

I got to say some sequels are better than orignals.

For example, Super Smash Bros. Melee iis better than the original Super Smash Bros. It has more characters to fight as, it has more stages to giht in, and more weapons to destroy your opponents. There are also trophies that you can achieve, more one story modes, filled with the greatest stages.

I think it depends on the generation, I liked when Zelda was on the N64 but not when it was on nes or whatever it was on before the N64. Same goes for WarHawk, I like the original one for the PS1 but hate the PS3 version. So I think it really depends on the generation. If you love older generations you will probably end up liking the older games better who knows that is just a guess.

I have to say, I don't really know. I tend to think that sequels would be somewhat better, as long as the creators take the time to fine tune their mistakes and everything like that.
Also, big series or franchises are usually harder to tell whether or not they're better, since there's so many sequels since the original lol... like Sonic for example, where I think that Sonic is definitely degrading. Now it's somewhat back on track, but I'll make a true verdict when Sonic 4 is out.
As for your thing about Zelda, you know what, I somewhat enjoyed Majora's better than Ocarina... but that doesn't necessarily mean it's better lol.

i think the original games are better than what is being released these days like they remake games onto consoles like the ds and look at how they turned out the kids these days will never know the fun of the original games before they become crap.
