I grew up with a lot of consoles, but I primarily had PS2 games during my childhood. Emulating PS1 is pretty easy on most handhelds. So I think the generation up from that would be the best for me.

Generally, I'd need it to have Ape Escape, God of War, Jak & Daxter, and Ratchet & Clank. Those would probably easy for Sony to get. Maybe if they did that, they could avoid another disaster.
