I am posing a question on here that I have seen hasn't had much discussion. Metal Gear Solid is one of my favirotes. So I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread dealing with it, and to gather some other fans and such into it. So what do you think is the best Metal Gear Solid Game within the series?

As always the first one will always be my favorite . I like them all though, execpt for the remake of the first "Twin Snakes" or something, absolutely dreadful . You left out the ones for the psp, even though I've never played them.

I vote for Guns of the Patriots. I love the Metal Gear series, but MGS4 is just a masterpiece.

Also, I tried to add the PSP ones, but the add feature was messin' up on me.

I'm a sucker for classics so I got to go with Metal Gear Solid. The game was very epic. It felt like I was watching a movie.

I'm going with the original metal gear just because it started the whole solid series. I already know about metal gear and metal gear II for the pc engine. Also the fact that one of the bosses forced you to unplug your controller so he coulden't read your memory.

MGS2, the boss fights were much more fun than the other games, and not to sound shallow, but that's the main thing I look for in a game

I've played all of the MGS games, but I would have to say that the original Metal Gear Solid is the best. It started the whole series, and is my favorite by far.

Metal Gear Solid. It was not only Metal Gears might return since the days of the NES but there was so much effort into making this game. It was the ONLY game of its type when it came out. One of the first games to really have "real" adult situations and real life problems interjected into it. The overall build up was legendary too. Love the boss fight at the end on top of the REX unit as well. Epic. The references and usage of all previous Metal Gear games also brought this closer to the franchise that had been previously used. Best part was when Psycho Mantis read the data on your memory card. I was like "WTFOMGFTW". Alas...in my opinion the series took a major nose dive after. Not graphically just emotionally and story wise.

I definitelt say that Metal Gear solid (The original one) is the best. It often happens so that the 'Sequels' to a game aren't better than the originals, and this is certainly no exception.

SoP tied all the games together really well. Personally, I didn't see many plotholes. The half/half movie/game combo was an interesting way to do a game of this style and I appreciated a lot of the major enemies( B&B corps on Excessively difficult mode). I'm not a regular gamer anymore, due to school and work . But, my vote goes to SoP. All of them are absolutely amazing though!

I would say that my favorite Metal Gear Game is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

A story worthy of a feature length film, with action that keeps you engaged from the second you hit the start button 'til the final credits roll. Incredibly detailed and visually breathtaking, with amazing camera angles, MGS4 is one of the most beautiful titles ever made. Haunting melodies, the re-introduction of classic themes via iPod, and perfect line delivery by actors -- this is an aural delight from start to finish. Not only does MGS4 include new gameplay mechanics, it shatters the mold of what's expected from the series. Stealth, action, or balanced play: the choice is yours in how you explore this MGS world. I would say that this game is very masterful.

I had a hard time with this one because I loved them all. It ultimately came down between 3 and 4. After careful contemplation, the tie breaker was Raiden. He went through such a change in that game. He changed from a sentimental, pansy into a complete badass. Something else that made me lean towards 4 was how it brought everything together and any questions we had were answered.
