Some of you may have noticed I haven't been very active the last few days. Let me tell you why. Last Friday, not sure what time, my apartment was broken into. A lot of my stuff was stolen. I arrived at about the same time my roommate did, around 5:30 pm. He pulled up into the parking lot just before I did and went through the gate and upstairs (the apartment complex is outside, not an indoor one. Two floors) I just stepped out of my car when he came to the balcony and yelled to me that we had been robbed. At first it didn't hit me, thinking he might have been talking some exaggerations. I went up and sure enough the his TV from the living room was gone. I checked my room, only to find some of my stuff missing, too. I didn't know what to think. Never expected that to happen after only a month and a half of living there. Who the hell could have taken my stuff, and why OUR apartment. Seriously, who the hell goes to the SECOND floor, and not the first, to break into a room??? Here's a list of items that were taken:

40" LCD
My two PS3's. One of them was a first-gen 60GB that could play PS2 games.
My buddy's PS3 that was to be sent to Sony to get fixed.
6 games, including FFXIII which I had just bought 3 days prior to the "incident"
My laptop, with over a thousand files, a couple of which I've had for almost 10 years. I'll never see them again.
Possibly my PSP.
I lost around $2600 worth of things. We didn't have renter's insurance at the time. I never knew about something like that until recently. So I have to buy all that s*** again with my own money. That's going to be fun.

My roommate only had a TV, which was the one in the living room. A 32". Nothing else was stolen from him. I'm not sure what exactly they were after, or if who ever broken in was in a hurry, but there were things in my room that they could have taken, but didn't. My external hardrive was on the floor against the wall. It was still there. I have a desktop computer (which i needs to be fixed) with monitor, speakers and keyboard that are still there. There are a couple boxes on my closet shelf. One of them has my Wii and a whole lot of games and DVDs. I have a 22" LCD they didn't take, which is what I'm using right now. Again, not sure why they left those things, but they did. No, I'm not lucky they didn't take them, this s*** shouldn't have happened in the first place. I really don't know why they chose our apartment.

The door frame where the lock bolt goes into was cracked almost the entire length. I'm guess they pryed it then kicked it open. There is a footprint right beneath the door knob. We called the police. Took them 2 and a half hours for one to finally arrive. He inspected a few things, took the serial number of my rommate's TV to have a detective look at the pawn shops around here and just talked to us a bit. There wasn't much he could do without the serial numbers of my things. I already knew that. In fact, it was almost a waste of time to even call the police. But whatever.

So now I have no laptop, so the only place I can get on Vizzed is at work, which is where I've done most of my posting from lately anyway. But I have a lot of work for the next couple days so I might only get to post once or twice. Theoretically, this may be my only post until next week Thursday- we have off from this Thursday to Sunday for spring break and I go back out to the field on Sunday for another 3 days. I won't have another laptop for about a month. So....yeah. I did my taxes the day after. Never did the one for '08 so I did that and last years. I'm getting back around $4000. I'll use part of that to get a new TV. A Samsung LED TV. They're a lot more vibrant than LCD or Plasma, but cost more, too. If I' don't go anywhere for Spring Break I'll probaby end up buying a couple games I lost. Borderlands and Dante's Inferno. You know, this is the second PS3 that was stolen from me in 6 months. The first was stolen by a moving company when I came back from Korea. I went and bought another on Saturday to replace the one just lost (along with another Modern Warfare 2 game). Honestly, who the hell has to end up buying two PS3s in half a year?
This is stupid. I've hated being here. And now it's almost hate with a passion. Pardon the words, but f*** Ft. Hood. f*** this huge ghetto filled with thugs that they call the city of Killeen and, no offense to anyone living here, f*** Texas. "Everything is bigger in Texas", including the BS. I'm getting out of here as soon as I can.

Woah man, so sad that you have to pay for it all again.
At least most of it was replacable stuff except for the files.
And I guess there's pretty much no chance of catching whoever did it?

Yo Im so glad this thread is in existence because this is what happen to me last week and what has brought me to become am member of this site:

I actual had my apartment robbed last week on thursday, I know the person that did it but hadnt seen them in years, he calls me up wedsnday night sayin he has no where to go and needs a place to crash so me being the nice guy I am, figures what the hell, " I got you bro"...So he comes over, we hang-out for bit and then I go upstairs to sleep with my fiance. Well this muthaf**** decides hes gonna walk out with my playstation 3, my nintendo wii, my laptop for college, and a ton of games, he also took my school book bag to haul all of these things out of my apartment...So me and my girl-friend wake up in the morning to all this stuff gone, just like that...I felt like seriously killing someone...So we call all the local pawn shops, the police, etc...Get nothing....Well I have no clue where to find this guy because like I said I havent seen him an a year or so then he just calls me out the blue...He never came across as the type of person to do something like that...It just sucks having all these great things, then all of it being taken away from you, I had just bought Heavy Rain and had Final Fantasy Pre-ordered...So yeah man, I know what this feels like 100%...Worse part about all this, is the guy that took my stuff prolly sold it to his drug dealer for herion so most likely my stuffwill never be retrieved.........Blows man.....Guess thats what you get for being nice...People always taking advantage of it....Well I figured I'd share my story with you man, I can relate brutha!!!!!----->

I know what it's like to be robbed so I can feel your pain guys.
It's a really s***ty feeling to come home and find alot of precious stuff is gone, the feeling can be even worse if you happen to be there when it happens.
Though at least if you're awake you can possibly do something about it.
JusTReaL: On the plus side if you know this guy you can give his full name to the police and they'll eventually haul him in.
Then sue the hell out of him. Don't give up hope.

I know how being robbed feels, it feels a lot like you lost your things, expect the fact you won't be looking for them, and you feel a bit madder.

Darn.

Did you recall talking to "strange" people or people you don't know and somehow given them your address, because it is weird how they robbed your area, maybe you might want to check with your neighbors if they were robbed.

And 100 files gone, damn, that sure is ad and scary, I have tears coming out of my eyes just for that part (strangely).

and JusTRealL, I think your egg is just...well...weird(can't find a better word) to put here.

Hopefully you can leave Texas soon, because I don't want anything else to happens.

If this was a phone call or something and I am over 18, I world rush over to the area if I am near by, like 2-4 hours flight.

Really it is just sad to lose files, just sad .

To say the least, I am sorry for your heavy losses. I mean you lost a whopping $2,600 in the thievery. Dang, I wish the police could have done something more. Oh well, if you ever see your stuff again, take pictures of them or trying buying them back (if possible). If you ever figure out and find the thief, beat him up the best you can.

Damn man, that's horrible. To have lost that much... that's just horrible man. Does your apartment complex have security cameras? If they do, you can go to the office and ask to see the records of that day.

If you lost your PSP, I can help you out though. I'm about to put up my old 1000 model on Ebay. If you don't know, the 1000 series is easily hackable, so, with a large memory stick, you could emulate old games and play PSP games if you downloaded them. I'm not into illegal modding or pirating, hence why I'm selling it (got a 3000). Though I'm going to be selling it for $180, because it's in absolutely amazing condition, so it'll be on the pricey side.

As for your files, maybe you should get a netbook so it can hide more easily. Maybe the Dell Vostro V13 or the Alienware M11x netbook powerhouse

You mean the new Alienware of awesomeness?

But wow, Cyro.. that is so unbelievably f***ed up. And on an Army base no less... does that at least limit possibilities of who it could be? Or is your apartment off base?

I take it you didn't back up files on the external, that blows. I can't imagine what it is like for you right now... well, I can, but I'm sure the feelings are a bit muted. But yeah, I'd get the hell out of Texas asap and go to a nicer place. Hell, even Ft. MacArthur in San Pedro seems like a nicer place than Ft. Hood. s***.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
