SO this thread is basically me asking you guys if you think it's in the spirit of forum games for people to cheat, specifically hangman.

Like understand this thread is silly but it's on my mind at the moment and this is my way of getting myself to stop thinking about it

How do you guys and girls feel about someone literally using a website to go through every possible answer just so they can be correct first. 

Like I just don't understand why people have to take a hangman game with no prizes so seriously lol. (which I understand is ironic because of this thread but ssh) 

To me the whole idea of forum games is that SPOILER ALERT..... you're not supposed to win every time... otherwise it's not a game... 

I played a game of hangman once
Someone got it right asap, I felt like a dunce
Then it was revealed that the user had lied
They'd never even seen the answer, so I cried
OMG STOP CHEATING you meanies, a single tear I shed
I can't be the only one I sad to myself, And thus I created this silly thread.

I've noticed this as well. I think it ruins the game. I mean maybe if someone is very knowledgeable in a certain field they might know after a few letters are revealed but I've seen people "guess" the answer like pretty much the first post after the new hangman was made. Nobody does that without cheating.

The only time I've ever looked something up was when I knew what the answer was, but didn't know the 100% correct spelling of it.

If it's getting to the point where no one is able to guess it, I have no problem with using resources to help you out. My hangman in the Vizzed Loedge for example, I wouldn't mind if someone looked through the member list, because we've gone through 10 letter guesses already (8 of them incorrect). If it just started though, I would prefer if people would try to solve it on their own first, or give others the opportunity to do so. So I don't necessarily think it's cheating, and I don't mind doing it if the puzzle is difficult to solve, but I would prefer it if it was more of a last resort.

Winning by cheating is just creative losing. You didn't actually accomplish the task on your own nor do you deserve any of the credit.

And half the point of the game is to guess letters until you have an idea of what the answer is. If after 2 guesses you know the answer then the game is pointless.

Cheating at hangman is dumb, but probably harmless. I'm not even sure how you'd go about doing it, but I guess it depends on the topic. Hangman games are supposed to be short though, so the answer ought to be known aster a small number of guesses.

I think it is cheating. It isn't really winning if you do it through dishonest means and it doesn't really truly feel like you have earned it either. :/

It's not like you can put in the series of blank letters and the internet will figure it out for you. Like let's say it's a name. You won't be able to search unless you already knew part of the name.

But at that point, if you know part of the name why not just figure out the rest?
