The video game industry has recently been looking better than ever before, as 2017 was a stellar year packed with amazing games, including, but not limited to, Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. 2018 might have the potential to be even better, with games like Kingdom Hearts 3 and Spider-Man on the horizon. Speaking of which, are you excited for any upcoming games?

Not that much, if I must be honest.

Dragon Ball FighterZ has attracted my interest, even though it doesn't do away with the "include exclusive characters to exclude 50% of the roster of all the anime series" that I personally see as BS in such a big franchise. What has me glued is that it returns to old-school battles in a similar vein to Tekken, KoF and the like after a long tenure in open-world battles, which is a very significant change. Still, I don't see myself hurrying to get it, and depending on the criticism I may not get it at all.

The only other game so far that has caught my interest is Soul Calibur VI. The last installment was a huge flop: fan-favorite characters taken down for no reason, a short story mode that evidenced how rushed the game was... The fanbase is expecting this game to correct the wrong doings after all these years, and the fact that the storyline is set to return to its origins sounds promising. However, let's not forget that Namco is behind this game and we know how much they messed up Tekken 7 after another long wait, so this game has potential to either be incredibly good or incredibly bad.

I'm not really excited for a lot of upcoming games, honestly.

However, there are two I am interested in and will most likely purchase when they release: Final Fantasy Dissidia NT and Dragonball FighterZ. Additionally, I am stoked for the Final Fantasy VII remake and will definitely be purchasing it when it eventually releases. Although that might not be until 2019...

Kingdom Hearts 3 - I'm incredibly optimistic for it. I've been waiting for this game for years now, and what's been shown so far looks incredible. Graphics, gameplay, everything, and I still think it's amazing that it's actually releasing this year!!

Spider-Man PS4 - Spider-Man is my favorite superhero and one of my favorite fictional characters in general,and IMO he hasn't really had a great game to match that caliber (even the famous Spider-Man 2 movie tie-in game, which in my personal opinion, is overrated.). This game looks like it might finally be it, though!! The gameplay looks absolutely spot-on, and Insomniac Games are on point with taking feedback, with the web-swinging speed being criticized at the E3 2017 demo, and it already being boosted since then. Even though it was only announced in 2016, it feels like I've been waiting almost as long as I have been for KH3. That's how excited I am for this game!

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night - I am a big fan of Castlevania, particularly the Metroidvania style of games ala Symphony of the Night, and with Koji Igarashi at the helm, plus what's been shown so far, including a very intriguing story, Bloodstained seems full of promise to scratch that Metroidvania itch.


Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - I really enjoyed the previous Dissidia games on the PSP, and while I realize this one has a lot of differences with them, it still looks like a lot of fun. The combat looks fun, hectic, and fast-paced, the graphics are stunning, and with the post-release updates Square have said there will be, with them saying their goal is too add in at least 50 playable characters from throughout the series, I'm excited for the prospect of seeing what different characters from the franchise there could all end up being and how they could play.

I'm not all that excited for games anymore because I recently picked up the game I wanted most of all. I've been really wanting to get Monster Hunter World and I ended up getting my financial aid refund the day before the pre-order release, so I paid and picked it up the day before it was released.

I might be interested to see what Far Cry 5 is all about and I'm hoping that Red Dead Redemption 2 and the new Spider-man games are what they are hyped up to be.
