I've been looking at my library lately and I've realized there are quite a few games that I've started and had every intention of finishing but have
never finished,  For instance, I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan (in case you couldn't tell) but I've never been able to finish Re Chain of Memories.  I
also started Metal Gear Rising Revengeance a few years ago and never finished it.  That's still just sitting there in my steam library waiting for me
to go back to it.  Anyway, I just want to know what are some games you wish you had finished or are still planning on going back to some day?

Edit- My posts never look bad in the post editor but when I finally hit post, the formatting is all messed up.  Why does this always happen to me?

I have about 90 games installed on XBOX ONE, about 30 or 40 on PlayStation 4, and then 120 plus on Steam ( even though I never play my Steam games ). So... all of the games.

Well, if we don't count the games I stop putting hours into because I've already acquired the sequel, the only one I currently have without finishing is Trackmania Turbo. I wish I had completed it, but it has become too insane for me and would need a ton of hours (and patience) that I don't have at my disposal right now.

I also have games pending completion in my Wii, which also goes to the Gamecube games I've preserved. However, my Wii is giving signs of old age, so it's very rare I'll ever get to complete those games. Super Mario Galaxy, Bomberman Generation, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and many more will probably never have their chance.

EX Palen :

Hardware is definitely a huge contributor to my backlog.  After I got my ps4 I stopped using my xbox 360 which means I left some games unfinished.  The main one I was playing on there was the xbox version of Shenmue 2.  I may try to just play the english translated dreamcast rom of that on vizzed at some point rather than plugging my 360 back in.  I also had games like Divinity 2, Vanquish, and Final Fantasy XIII on there that I haven't gone back to although I've recently bought Final Fantasy XIII on steam so maybe I'll return to that some day.  Don't even get me started on all the ps2 games I've left unfinished....

I too haven't finished Chain of Memories. I'm not sure I will. I'm not a big fan of Kingdom Hearts, but the first one is one of my favorite games. I've tried to platinum 1 and 2, but although 2's combat is, I suppose, "improved", the plot just isn't. I don't like how the nobodies were handled. The intro to KH II is perhaps one of the best ever. I just feel the rest of the game doesn't live up to it.

And I do have a huge backlog, many of which I will never play regardless. I have a big Steam library (although I know many who have more than I), but in my opinion, it's far more than I will ever need. To try to finish every game there would be a foolish endeavor. I've only beaten a small fraction of them, and I just plain don't like many of them.

Plus I have other consoles: 3DS, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3. I have great games on PS3 that I'm hoping to spend significant time with. I'm well on my way to platinuming Ni No Kuni (one of the best games ever made) and have an incredible library system that allows me to borrow games for any recent system, including all I own. This makes my backlog bigger than what I own.

tl;dr, I have too much. Help me.

My backlog is so big it's a bit shameful, a few stick out though:

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep

I'm a long time fan of the series, and my goal has been to beat every game on proud/critical mode, I managed to do this with 1, 2 and RE:Chain of Memories (completed 358/2 days on proud long ago) in a fairly short span of time before just kind of stopping after getting a bit into Birth by Sleep. Which is strange as I managed to beat CoM in just a few days and that's generally considered to be the most grindy and least accessible of the bunch. I still intend on finishing it but haven't as real life and other games got in the way.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

I originally got this game through the 2.8 collection for PS4 with the intention of finishing up the remainder of the games I had left before tackling it but as I've yet to finish Birth By Sleep I haven't touched it, in fact it's still in its original wrapping (probably the single most shameful thing about my backlog). I do plan on going through both of these games during the summer since I'm likely to be a lot less busy by then (aside from part time work/preparing for university) so I can at least finish them before 3 eventually releases. It remains to be seen if I actually will go through with it though.

The Talos Principle

Probably my all time favorite puzzle game beating even Portal. The game features some really clever puzzle design and a very interesting and thought provoking narrative to go along with it. It was an impulse buy during a deep sale on the PSN store, I played through the majority of the game blind with the intention of replaying it for alternative endings so I could get the platinum. At some point I just stopped playing it, I think due to some other big game I had been anticipating coming out and I never returned to it. I find it kind of hard to get back into it since it can take a while to progress with some of the later puzzles when you're not using a guide so it has been easier to just play something I could more easily pick up and leave. I would like to return to it but due to how long it has been I'd be more likely to completely restart the game and try to speed run to where I left off.

Persona 5

I was so incredibly hyped for this game before it released and played it to death after I got it, probably clocking about 150 hours or so into it. Despite that I never finished it as I was caught up in all the side activities and I was trying to achieve maximum relationship level with all the characters, combine this with me trying to conquer the highest difficulty on my first try and it lead to me just burning out on it eventually. I definitely do intend to return to it and will likely resume from where I left off, though I might force myself to be less of perfectionist so I don't burn out again.

Like I mentioned this is far from all of the games on my backlog, just the top ones that are bothering me. There are several other games I got as part of a deal or through PS+ that I've barely started or haven't even touched at all. Safe to say I don't have a shortage of games on my PS3/PS4 to keep me busy, I will likely try to be conservative with my purchases this year so I can get around to at least some of them. The ironic thing is that I'm mostly just playing Overwatch right now.

I've beaten most of the Kingdom Hearts series aside from the ones on the DS (which I plan on just watching the 1.5+2.5 remix movies of) and of course, Re Chain of Memories.  I've made multiple attempts to beat chain of memories.  Once on the original gba version which I barely made it anywhere in.  Once on the ps2 version where I got stuck on Vexen in Twilight Town.  Then finally, my current attempt in the ps4 hd remix where I am also still stuck on Vexen in Twilight Town.  I may try to go back to it sometime and really push myself to finish it.

I have so many games in my backlog... For a legitimate estimation, I'd say probably thirty as downloaded games go, and close to a hundred that I own but haven't even downloaded. lol The reason for most of them is PS+ if I'm honest. I pick up almost every game they put out on PS+ whether it interests me or not, because it doesn't cost me any extra and it might surprise me, right? I usually don't end up surprised, but it's happened before.

A few examples of games that I actually have but haven't finished:
Dragon Quest Builders. It's a great game, it really is, and when I last played it, I was still really enjoying it and wanting more. However, I got sidetracked by....something. Shame too because I was almost finished with the last chapter.

Yonder. This is actually an incredible game, and I totally recommend it if you enjoy wide open adventures. There's no fighting whatsoever, no health, no peril of any kind. You just go around exploring, finding things, planting things, building things... you get the idea. It's good, clean, simple, fun.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Another great game. I really enjoy this one immensely, but I play it so open ended that I never actually get anywhere. lol I play it like mad for a month or so, just running around finding Uruk to kill, completing side quests and resolving the randomly occurring skirmishes and such, then put it away for a few months. Maybe one day I'll actually work on playing through the storyline. Currently I'm actually avoiding it, since it can literally go on forever like this, but once it's over, it's over.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted. Man, this is one I thought might be fun to mess around with some, but I had no idea that it would quickly become one of my favorite games. Seriously, it's incredible. I fully intend to get back to this one after I clear out my backlog of games that I got as Christmas gifts. It's pretty open ended if you want it to be, and also has tons of stuff for a completionist like me to do.

Grow Home. This one honestly just lost my attention. It's fun and all, but a little too bottlenecks for it's own good. If the world had been a little more open, it would have been amazing. It's still fun in short bursts though, so I plan to finish it eventually.

I could list a ton more, like Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, The Swindle, Rogue Galaxy, Strider, Foul Play, Mighty No. 9, Samurai Warriors 4-2, Tales of Zestiria, and on and on.... you get the idea. I need to slow down on getting games, but who actually thinks I have any intentions of doing that anytime soon?

I still have both Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy III (United States version, not Japanese) to go and finish.  I got close in FFII, all the way to the moon, and I poked around, near the end.  All I had to do was grind out some levels and go take on the bad guy and I would have wrapped that one up.

I never did.  It's sitting downstairs on my PlayStation II as we speak, waiting for me.

The same goes for Final Fantasy III (U.S).  I originally had it as a kid and played past the end of the world (spoiler) and deep into the second act.  But I got away from it because back then there was no FAQ available at a few clicks of the mouse button.

I have that game on my PS2 downstairs as well.  I restarted it, fought through the first bit, but the time it takes to invest in a single sitting is too much.  I don't have 45 minutes or two hours straight I can sit there and grind levels or play the game.  It's a shame, really, that I can't play how I did 20 years ago.

That's why my games are now quick in play.  I can't have more than 20 minutes on something because I have the kids, a job, a wife, a dog, and all the other responsibilities of life.

I'll finish them one day ... maybe.

I have so many games that I have yet to play. I even have about 15 or so Switch and PS4 games that I bought in the past 3 months that I haven't even opened yet.

Not to mention about 20 3DS and Vita games that I haven't touched in years.

I have a good 20 or so physical games between 3DS, PS4, and Switch in my backlog that I have yet to touch.

I still haven't beaten Ocarina of Time for 3DS despite having the game for over 4 years. I'm working on it though. Overall, I'd say I have a backlog of 30 or so games when combining physical and digital games. Definitely nothing crazy, but still worth noting

Since I posted this thread, I have finished re chain of memories and shenmue 2 finally! However, I think over the past year I've ended up adding more games to my backlog than I ended up actually finishing. My backlog is just an endlessly shifting labyrinth of games.

I haven't finished half the games I have, and I am very ashamed. I've also emulated quite a few games and never actually finished a lot of them, I just have the habit of buying/downloading so many games and never finished them. 2017 I got FFVIII on Steam for christmas but I still haven't played it too much. Ugh.

I have a massive, massive backlog of Steam games, but one game that I bought and never finished was Grinsia on the 3DS. It gets special mention because I got some enjoyment out of it even if the plot and characters are pretty generic, and I'm right near the end of the game but I haven't bothered to go back and finish it.

I have left Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on my shelf for months now, and the only reason for that is I want to finish Xenoblade 1 first. Problem is, I don't have it, and copies are scarce and expensive. Although, I have heard that the 2nd game doesn't tie to the 1st game until the very end, and since I still have a long way to go until that point, I may just start playing it again real soon if I don't forget this time.

I've recently decided that I wasn't going to start any new games until I finished the ones I've started since I've started so many. I forgot for a while, but this reminded me to make a list to help me keep track of it. I'll put together a list later and post it here. It's probably not as long as some here, but it's going to be a lot.

m0ssb3rg935 :

That's actually a good idea. Maybe I should try doing something like that.

My problem is also because I start too many games when I haven't finished others. I also tend to play a lot of games that have a ton of replay value (slay the spire, binding of isaac rebirth, enter the gungeon, etc.) when I could be finishing a game I started months ago.

My Steam library has about 200 games in it . . . and I haven't yet played almost half of them. Steam sales - they're both a blessing and a curse.

On consoles, I have a better playing ratio. I've played all the games I have for my Switch (though the only one I've actually beaten is Super Mario Odyssey), and I only have three or four 3DS games that I haven't played.
