Legend of Zelda, The: Skyward Sword

Skyward Sword...
Back in 2011, Nintendo celebrated The Legend of Zelda franchise's 25th anniversary by releasing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on the Wii. The game relied solely on the Wii's motion controls, which were always unreliable to say the least. Did this game get motion controls right, or did it suffer as a result? I'll give you my take by making this review.

Graphics: 9/10 Skyward Sword is definitely one of the better looking games on the Wii. Unlike Twilight Princess which had a more realistic look to it than other games in the series, Skyward Sword had a less realistic look to it. Certainly not to the extent of Wind Waker of course, but somewhere in between that and TP. The game also appears to have a cel-shaded look somewhat similar to that found in Breath of the Wild. The many environments as well as the characters themselves are designed to best of the Wii's capabilities. It's not the most visually stunning game on the system, but the graphics are more than worthy of a 9 at least.

Sound: 10/10 Legend Of Zelda games are for the most part well-known for having fantastic soundtracks, and Skyward Sword is no exception. In fact, I'd say that this game has one of if not the best soundtrack in the entire series! It has amazing boss themes such as the Koloktos theme, as well as one of the most epic final boss themes I've ever heard! Aside from Xenoblade Chronicles and Super Smash Bros Brawl, there aren't many Wii soundtracks that can compete with the music found in Skyward Sword. This soundtrack is more than deserving of a 10.

Addictiveness: 1/10 Skyward Sword may have great visuals and music, but it has what I would consider to be the worst controls in the entire series (not including the CDI games). Unlike it's predecessor Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword is only playable using motion controls. The problem with motion controls is they're extremely unreliable. They make even the most basic of actions feel like a chore sometimes. For exam... Read the rest of this Review
Golf Story

Golf Story Review
On September 28, 2017, the Nintendo Switch finally got a very interesting exclusive indie game called Golf Story. It was made by Sidebar Games, and it was heavily influenced by the old gameboy color and gameboy advance Mario Golf games. With those games being a big part of my early childhood, I just had to buy it and try it out for myself. Does it live up to those classics? I'll tell you my answer with this review.

Graphics - 7/10 The visual style for Golf Story is in a top-down perspective, similar to how the Mario Golf games I mentioned earlier are. There's a good amount of variety in terms of areas in the game as well, ranging from a traditional golf setting to a snowy area, as well as haunted and desert areas as well. The visuals won't blow you away, but it's got a good visual style for an indie game. I'm giving the graphics a 7.

Sound - 5/10 Golf Story's music doesn't stand out at all compared to other games on the switch. The music that plays in certain areas of the game fit the areas they play in, but overall the soundtrack is very mediocre. I've certainly heard worse though, so I'm giving the sound a 5.

Addictiveness - 5/10 I enjoyed my experience playing Golf Story for the most part. It reminded me a lot of what the old GBC/GBA Mario Golf games were like. As you progress through the game, you'll earn experience points and level the main character up, which allows you to upgrade one of his stats such as power or control. The RPG element is the main reason why the GBC/GBA Mario Golf games were loved by fans, and that aspect was handled perfectly in Golf Story.

There is one glaring issue that severely impacts the golfing aspect of the game however, and that is the putting mechanics! Unlike the Mario Golf games (the GBA one being released 13 years prior to Golf Story), there's no way to tell where the slopes are on the green. If you're wanting to try to make a long putt, then good luck because you're pretty much putti... Read the rest of this Review
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

My first Switch game review
Back in April 2017, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came out on Switch. As someone who bought MK8 on the Wii U along with the DLC packs, I was disappointed to find out that I'd essentially wasted more money than I should've on the Wii U version, yet I knew I absolutely needed to buy Deluxe. I never got around to reviewing MK8 on Wii U, so I've decided to instead review Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and make it my 1st Switch game review. Hopefully this will help anyone who's not yet gotten a switch, but still has the wii u decide if they too should buy this game.

Graphics: 10/10 - The visuals in this game are about the same as they were in the Wii U version. Even so, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the most visually stunning racing game I've ever played. Whether you're getting ready to drive off an aircraft carrier onto a snowy mountain on Mount Wario, racing along the streets of Toad Harbor, or making your way through the fire and lava of Bowser's Castle; you'll find yourself enjoying the sights in each track no matter how many times you end up racing on them. All the tracks in the game look fantastic, so the graphics for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are more than worthy of a 10.

Sound: 9/10 - The Mario Kart franchise has always had some of the catchiest music you'll find in racing games, and MK8 Deluxe is no exception. There's a lot of variety found in this soundtrack featuring some great jazzy tunes with a lot of emphasis towards the saxophone, plenty of electric guitar, and other various instrument sounds can be heard in this game.

Some of the big music highlights found in MK8 include Big Blue and Hyrule Circuit, which both contain a perfect mix of saxophone and electric guitar. Mute City, Dragon Driftway and Mount Wario are also worthy of being mentioned as highlights for the soundtrack. In addition, there were plenty of tracks brought back from older games, some of which got remixes as well. While a majority of the soundtrack is fantastic, there's 1 remix that N... Dig Dug (rev 2)

Dig Dug Review
In the early 80's, arcade gaming was at it's peak in popularity. Pac-Man had already become a cultural phenomenon, and other arcade games were seeing large success as well. In 1982, Dig Dug was created. Was it as good as some of their other great arcade hits? I'll give you my take by making this review.

Graphics: 8/10 For an arcade game of the era, this game has good visuals. The character sprites are as detailed as you could expect from an early 80's arcade game, especially the enemies. The underground areas were given good colors, especially early on. The flowers above ground look visually appealing, and the rocks underground look about the way I'd expect them to from a game from that era. The visuals are very solid for the time period. The graphics are worthy of an 8 in my eyes.

Sound: 4/10 This is the category that Dig Dug falters in compared to other arcade games of the era. While Dig Dug has a catchy tune that plays throughout the game, it only plays when you're moving. If you're standing still, no music plays at all. If you're blowing up an enemy, you hear a sound effect. It would've been nice if at the very least, the music would keep playing even if you're standing still. The overall sound quality is greatly effected due to these issues, therefore I'm giving the sound a 4.

Addictiveness: 10/10 Dig Dug has as much replay value as other arcade games of the time. In this game, you have to defeat underground enemies by either inflating them until they pop or by dropping rocks on them, the latter being much tougher to pull off. The enemies you'll face are Pookas (a red ball with goggles), and Fygars (green dragons that can breathe fire). When there's only 1 enemy left, they'll try to flee above ground and leave the screen. After either you've killed the last enemy or they escape, you move onto the next level. You keep going until you lose all of your lives. Like most arcade games at the time, the premise is simple enough, yet the... Read the rest of this Review
Double Breakout

Breakout x Pong
Several months ago, I found a game on the Wii U eshop that caught my eye, so I decided to buy it. The game is Double Breakout, and it was made by an indie company called nuGAME and was released on September 22 2016. It's pretty much a game that combines arcade classics Breakout and Pong. Now that I played it, I'm going to start this review.

Graphics: 7/10 For being a retro-styled game, Double Breakout has decent graphics. The backgrounds and colors of each level are diverse, and the blocks look just like ones found in any other breakout game. The balls have a color trail with the color of the player who hit the ball last so that you can tell who's hit each ball last, because there are 2 balls on the screen. Aside from the balls and level backgrounds, Double Breakout's looks the way you'd expect a breakout game to look. The graphics for Double Breakout get a 7 from me.

Sound: 1/10 Double Breakout has what I would consider to be one of the worst soundtrack I've ever heard in a video game. Imagine hearing 8 bit music that sounds like nails on a chalkboard, that's what you'll hear in Double Breakout. The best example of this is the title screen theme. For a retro style game like this, the absolute worst first impression a game can have is the very first sound you hear sounding like nails on a chalkboard. Obviously, the sound category is getting a 1 from me.

Addictiveness: 7/10 The reason I bought this game is because it combines Breakout and Pong to create a fresh Breakout/Pong experience. As I expected, Double Breakout met my expectations. In this game, you and your opponent both get one ball each to start with. You have to break through the blocks in your way, and then get the ball to go into your opponents goal. At the same time, you have to avoid giving up goals, and make sure you don't end up getting the ball into your own goal after it bounces off a block. Hitting your opponents goal gives you points, while giving up goals causes you to ... Read the rest of this Review
Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Why did it have to be Stickers?
Back on November 11, 2012, Nintendo brought Paper Mario to the 3DS by making Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It was the 4th game in the Paper Mario series, and the 8th Mario Role-Playing Game (RPG) overall. How does this game compare to other games in the series? I'll share my thoughts by making this review.

Graphics: 7/10 Paper Mario: Sticker Star has decent visuals for a 3DS game. There's a nice variety of areas to explore, such as deserts and dense forests. These areas all look pretty good for a Paper Mario game, and the stickers add more visual appeal to an already interesting looking world that Paper Mario games provide. While Paper Mario: Sticker Star may not have the incredible graphics that other 3ds games like Kid Icarus: Uprising and the 3DS Monster Hunter games have, but the graphics are still good enough for me to give this category a 7.

Sound: 9/10 The one aspect of Paper Mario: Sticker Star Nintendo got right on the money was it's soundtrack. The boss themes in particular are some of the best I've heard in the Paper Mario series. The super catchy mini-boss theme, and the Bowser battle themes in particular are some of the best music I've heard in the series. Sticker Star still to this day has one of the best soundtracks I've heard from a 3ds game. The sound gets a 9 from me.

Addictiveness: 2/10 Whenever I play a JRPG, I usually play them for the story and for the battle system they provide. I unfortunately found out early in the game that Paper Mario's battle system is one of the worst that a fan of turn based RPG's will ever come across. In just about any JRPG, there's a level up system, and the way to level up is by earning experience points. You get experience points from defeating enemies. When you level up, your stats such as HP and attack get higher. In this game however, there is no level up system, and there are no experience points to earn. Instead, you rely solely on collecting stickers which are used to perform attacks s... Read the rest of this Review
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

An epic Sonic racing game
In 2012, SEGA released a racing game featuring characters from a bunch of their franchises called Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed. It was released on multiple systems including PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3ds, PS VITA, Windows, Android, IOS, and the Wii U, which is the one I'll be reviewing today. That game was one of 3 that I got when the Wii U launched back in November of 2012, and it happened to be the one I spent the most time playing. Since it's Sonic's 25th anniversary this year, I decided to go ahead and make a review for this game since I have no idea if I'll make any other Sonic reviews for the rest of the year.

Graphics: 9/10 Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed even now is one of the better looking games on the Wii U. Nearly every track in the game are some of the most amazing looking tracks in the history of racing genre. Whether you're flying through the Skies of Arcadia track with all the airships flying around, the gorgeously remade Sky Sanctuary from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, or the futuristic Galactic Parade track that's pretty much the Sonic equivalent of Rainbow Road, you'll be amazed by how beautiful the visuals are in this game. There are few Wii U titles that have better visuals than this title, so I'm giving the graphics a 9.

Sound: 9/10 The music in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed showcases SEGA's history in such a magnificent way. I can never seem to get the Adder's Lair theme in particular out of my head. It's not just Adder's Lair that impressed me though, the entire soundtrack is filled with awesome remade themes from some of SEGA's most iconic games. That includes Sonic of course, but the music brought over from other games such as Skies of Arcadia, Shinobi, Panzer Dragon, and much more. Before Mario Kart 8 came out, I considered this game to have the best music of any racing game on the Wii U. Even now, Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed's soundtrack is great enough to get a 9 ou... Read the rest of this Review
Kirby: Triple Deluxe

Triple Deluxe = Triple the Fun
After seeing Nintendo make 3DS games for a lot of their other franchises, including Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, and Kid Icarus of all things, I was wondering how long it would take for Kirby to make his 3DS debut? That wait ended in 2014 when Kirby Triple Deluxe was released. How does this game compare to previous games in the series? I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 9/10 Kirby Triple Deluxe has some of the most colorful and vibrant visuals that you'll find on the 3ds console. Whether you're traveling through candy themed levels, lava areas, or the woodland levels of fine fields, Kirby Triple Deluxe's visuals are some of the best the series has to offer. In addition to the wonderful level designs, the character and boss designs in this game are among the best I've seen in the series. The Woods boss in particular is one of the best designed bosses in the series. Instead of using the same generic tree look that the Whispy Woods boss in every other Kirby game has, they decided to give it a much more colorful look with beautiful flowers, bright leaves, and a surprisingly colorful trunk. The background in that battle is just as beautiful, as is every other area in Triple Deluxe. Overall, Kirby: Triple Deluxe's visuals are more than deserving of a 9 from me.

Sound: 10/10 This game has a delightful soundtrack that any Kirby fan and any 3ds owner will fall in love with. The boss theme, each final boss phase theme, and all the remixed classic Kirby tracks are all some of the best music that I've heard on the 3ds. While all the boss themes found in Triple Deluxe are among the best I've heard on the system, those aren't the only great themes that are present in this game. Floral Fields (the theme for the first level), and the Wild World Stage 4 theme (an epic Egyptian themed song) are some of my favorite level themes in the series. I honestly can't find a single flaw in Kirby: Triple Deluxe's soundtrack, so I'm giving it a 10.

Falsion - The Famicom Disk System's Best
Hello users of vizzed and welcome to my latest review. Today, I'll be doing something that up until now, I had never done before. I'll be reviewing a game for the Japanese exclusive system, the Famicom Disk System (or FDS for short), and that game is Falsion. It was made by Konami, the same company behind classics like the Castlevania and Contra series. Unlike some of their more famous titles, Falsion is a space shooter. For some reason, I've made a lot of reviews for those kinds of games over the past year. How does this game compare to some of the other space shooters I've reviewed? I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 10/10 Out of the FDS games I've played, Falsion has what I consider to be one of, if not the most visually appealing game on the Famicom Disk System. Whether you're battling enemies over an ocean with a gorgeous 8 bit sunrise in the background, or you're flying through a giant asteroid field, you'll be left wondering how Konami managed to make an 80's space shooter look so amazing. Not only are the backgrounds in this game beautiful, but your ship (aka the Falsion) and the enemies are very detailed, and look better than most enemies from NES games. The bosses in particular are some of the most intimidating looking enemies I've seen in games from the 80's. Overall, Falsion's visuals are definitely worthy of a 10.

Sound: 10/10 Like the visuals, Falsion's soundtrack is miles better than any other FDS game out there. Not only is this soundtrack the best the system has to offer, but I also consider Falsion's music to be some of the best I've ever heard in a Konami game. The level 3 and 1 themes in particular happen to be my 2 favorite songs from any game on the Famicom Disk System. Even though those 2 themes are my favorites from the game, there isn't a single theme in the game that I don't like. In fact, the entire Falsion soundtrack is among Konami's very best. It's right up there with the Castlevania's and the Contra's of t... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Crystal World (hack)

Pokemon Crystal World Review
So far this year in the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, I've already reviewed a few official Pokemon titles. Today, I'm going to be doing something a little different. I'm going to be reviewing a hack that I still consider one of the hardest Pokemon hacks of all time: Pokemon Crystal World. It was created by Miksy91, and today, I'm going to go ahead and review it.

Graphics: 6/10 For the most part, this hack's visuals are the same as Pokemon Crystal. However, a few areas do look very different, such as the Violet City Gym, which now has an ice maze that you have to figure out before you can battle Falkner. Some other weird changes were made as well, such as your rival facing the opposite direction of Professor Elm's lab, which is now towards the bottom of New Bark Town, instead of being towards the exit. In addition, if you leave Ecruteak City through the gate you would use to go to route 38, you'll enter a glitch world that you cannot exit from. These changes make no sense, and show how much better each area in the game looks in Pokemon Crystal than in Pokemon Crystal World. Overall, there's too much weird stuff going on with the visuals, so instead of giving the graphics a 10 like I would've given to Pokemon Crystal, I'm giving the graphics in this game a 6.

Sound: 10/10 Thankfully unlike the graphics, the music in Pokemon Crystal World is unchanged from the masterpiece that is Pokemon Crystal. You still get to listen to all the wonderful classics such as the champion theme, both the Kanto and Johto Gym Leader themes, and every other track from the GBC classic. There's nothing more I can say about the sound, except that I'm giving this category a 10.

Addictiveness: 9/10 Pokemon Crystal World has as much replayability as any of the mainstream gen 2 Pokemon games. There are still the 251 Pokemon from the first 2 gens to catch, there's still the same amount of gyms to beat as in G/S/C. Most importantly of all though is that Pokemon Crystal Worl... Kirby's Dream Course

Kirby's Dream Course review
What do you get when you put Kirby on a golf course? Well, you get Kirby's Dream Course on the SNES of course! The game was released on February 21, 1995, and it actually became the first game in the series to receive a rating from the ESRB. The game was good enough to receive a rerelease on the Wii U Virtual Console last year. What do I think of this game? I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 8/10 The visuals of each course in this game were made in an isometric perspective, similar to the way that the first 2 Roller Coaster Tycoon games were made on PC. All the holes and courses have recurring characters in the series that block your path to the hole, each of which are well detailed and look as great as you'd expect them to look on an SNES game. One thing I've never understood about this game though is why each course looks more like a checkerboard or chessboard than an actual putt-putt golf course. I mea, it would've made much more sense to make the courses have fairways, and a green right by the hole. While it would've been nice to see the courses look a little more realistic, the visuals in Kirby's Dream Course are good enough for me to give the graphics an 8.

Sound: 7/10 Like most Kirby games out there, Kirby's Dream Course has a pretty nice soundtrack. Some of my personal favorite music in the game included the theme for the first hole and the final boss theme, which are among my favorite tunes for the SNES Kirby games. The overall soundtrack isn't quite as memorable as the one from Kirby Super Star, and it lacks remixes of classic tunes like green greens, which I would've loved to see. Overall though, the music and sounds in Kirby's Dream Course are good enough for me to give the sound category a 7.

Addictiveness: 8/10 I can't think of any Kirby game that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed, and Kirby's Dream Course is no exception. In this game, Kirby is the ball, and you must guide him to the hole on each course in order to mo... Read the rest of this Review
Soon Shine

Quick Indie Review: Soon Shine
I normally don't do this, but today, I'll be reviewing an indie game for the Wii U. That game is called Soon Shine, it was made Dahku Creations, a little known indie company that made 2 Wii U titles before they stopped making games all together in late August of 2014. Soon Shine was the last game they made, and it's the only one by them I'll be reviewing. Now without further ado, I'll go ahead and start this review.

Graphics: 6/10 Compared to other indie titles I've played on the Wii U, Soon Shine's visuals are pretty mediocre. The background environments are very colorful, whether you're in the sky in between 2 giant plants, or you're in an area with cogs and pipes, there's a good variety of areas that look nice for a $1.99 eshop game. Overall, Soon Shine's visuals are getting a 6 from me.

Sound: 7/10 Soon Shine has some soothing piano tunes that are very fitting for a relaxing puzzle game. I found myself humming along to the simple, yet very calming music as I got farther and farther into the game. For a game that's as cheap as Soon Shine is, they definitely did a good job with adding good music to the game, and for that, I'm giving the sound a 7.

Addictiveness: 8/10 As far as replayability is concerned, Soon Shine is one of the funner Wii U eshop exclusive indie games I've played. Basically, you play as both the sun and moon, and you have to destroy these different colored spirits using the powers of both the sun and the moon. You start off playing as the sun, destroying darker colored spirits, but eventually, you start seeing brighter colored spirits popping up, and you need to switch to the moon to get rid of them. It's a pretty simple concept, but still very addicting nevertheless. While there are more addicting games on the Wii U, Soon Shine is addicting enough for me to give that category an 8.

Story: N/A Soon Shine doesn't have a storyline, therefore I'm leaving this category blank.

Depth: 5/10 Soon Shine only ha... Read the rest of this Review
Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest

Fire Emblem Fates: The Path of Darkness
After the huge success of Fire Emblem: Awakening, Intelligent Systems started working on another Fire Emblem game for the 3DS. Or rather, they started working on 3 titles that are related to each other, but at the same time have major differences from each other. Those 3 games are Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, Birthright, and Revelation. Both Conquest and Birthright both came out on February 19th, 2016. Revelation on the other hand came out at a later date. Each title takes place in the same world, but each has you take a different story path that lead to each game having a completely unique experience. Today, I'll be reviewing Conquest, the one that I played first. At some point, I hope to review each of the 3 Fates titles, but I don't know when I'll get to the other 2. It could take months for me to get around to reviewing them. For now though, let's get this Conquest review started!

Graphics: 10/10 The visual style in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest is just as wonderful to look at as the visuals found in Awakening. The cutscenes in the game are some of the best I've seen for any game on the 3DS. All the different areas of the world you travel through look stunning. The castle in Nohr has the look fitting for a king as power hungry and corrupt as King Garon, and the Hoshido kingdom is one of the most beautiful areas I've seen in a 3ds game. Most of the areas you take part in battles in are also great to look at as well. Whether you're fighting in a kingdom of sand or a village in the middle of a snowy region, you're going to be impressed with how beautiful each area in the game looks. Overall, the visuals in this game are among the best you'll find on the 3ds library, so I'm giving the graphics a 10.

Sound: 9/10 As soon as you hear the epic intro theme play as you watch the opening cutscene depicting the brutal war between Nohr and Hoshido, you know you're in for an amazing soundtrack to listen to throughout Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. The different t... Read the rest of this Review

I promised back in January that I'd be making more Pokemon reviews for the 20th anniversary of Pokemon. I meant that, but for some reason, I got sidetracked with more obscure games I wanted to review instead... Today, I'm getting back on track by reviewing a spinoff game for the DS called Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. It came out back in 2008, and is the 2nd game in the Pokemon Ranger trilogy. How does this game compare to other spinoff games in the series? I'll tell you what I think by making this review.

Graphics: 8/10 Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia has very impressive visuals compared to other DS Pokemon Spinoffs such as the Mystery Dungeon games. There are lots of different environments that you'll travel through on your journey, including a burning forest, a volcano, an ice palace, and even underwater areas as well. Each area in the game looks pretty decent for it's time, and honestly, I'm willing to say the visual style in Shadows of Almia is as good as the graphics found in Pokemon Platinum. While the visuals in this game may not be as great to look at as Final Fantasy IV or III for example, but it's good enough for me to give the graphics an 8 out of 10.

Sound: 7/10 The music in the Ranger series as a whole is very lackluster compared to other Pokemon Spinoffs like the Mystery Dungeon series, but Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia still has a pretty decent soundtrack. With good tracks such as the Gem Guardian Theme, the final battle theme, and the Tension theme, you're bound to at least find some enjoyment in listening to the tunes found in this game, even though the soundtrack as a whole isn't as great as the Mainstream games or the Mystery Dungeon series. Still, the soundtrack is good enough for me to give the sound a 7.

Addictiveness: 5/10 Replayability and gameplay is where the Ranger series as a whole falters, and Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia is no exception. Basically in each battle, you have to use your stylus and re... Read the rest of this Review

Beamrider Review (Atari 2600)
After making a few Atari 2600 reviews in the past, I thought that I'd never make another review for a game on that system ever again. That was, until I played a space shooter last month called Beamrider. It was made by Activision, and it was originally made for the Intellevision, but was later ported to the Colecovision, Commodore 64, MSX, ZX Spectrum, Atari 5200, and of course, the Atari 2600. Today, I'll be reviewing the version I've been playing, which is the Atari 2600 version.

Graphics: 10/10 I don't recall a time that I've ever been impressed with the graphics of an Atari 2600 game, that is until now. Beamrider has the best visuals I've seen on the console, and honestly, the graphics are even better than those on some games from Atari systems that came after it. Your ship and enemies are very detailed and look realistic for being in an Atari 2600 game. Visually, this doesn't look like it came from the Atari 2600, and that's as big of a compliment as I can give Beamrider in the graphics department. For these reasons, I'm giving the graphics a perfect 10.

Sound: 8/10 For an Atari 2600 game, Beamrider has very good sound effects. Whether it's the sound effect your ship makes when you're shooting at enemies or the sound of your enemies ships exploding, Beamrider makes the most of the limits that the Atari 2600 has in the sound department. While I'd say that other Atari 2600 games have better music than Beamrider, their sound effects don't match what this game has to offer. Overall, the lack of good music is what makes me give this category a 8 instead of a higher score.

Addictiveness: 9/10 While Beamrider was never released in the arcades, it feels and plays like some of the great arcade games of the 80's. In each level, you must destroy 15 alien ships while avoiding enemy fire and avoiding obstacles such as asteroids that will get in your way. When you destroy the 15 ships, you'll get the chance to shoot down a mother ship with your tor... Read the rest of this Review
Grinsia

Nostalgic? Or just plain generic?
On May 8th of 2014, Nicalis, Inc released a JRPG on the 3DS eShop called Grinsia. It's a nostalgia filled JRPG that looks and plays like a game from the 16 bit era of gaming. I bought the game for $10.00 a couple of years back, but didn't actually start playing through it until recently. Now that I've beat it, I can say whether or not it's as good as some of the JRPG's you can find on Vizzed.

Graphics: 7/10 Grinsia's visuals are a great reminder of how good 16 bit era graphics are, even now in the 21st century. The character sprites and the different environments throughout the game help make this game look like a nostalgic blast to the past. The battles look like something you'd see from one of the SNES Final Fantasy games. The only issue I have with the visuals is the backgrounds during battles are unnecessarily large, mainly because the environments during those battles are very bland, with nothing more than what's supposed to be grass on the world map or the ground in a dungeon. Overall though, the visuals in Grinsia are still good enough for me to give the graphics a 7.

Sound: 5/10 Normally when I play a JRPG, I expect it to have a very memorable soundtrack that will stay in my head after I've heard it. Unfortunately, Grinsia does not provide very memorable music. The boss theme reminds me a little bit of something that you'd hear in Chrono Trigger, but it's still nowhere near as great as soundtracks from the SNES era. Not only that, but there aren't very many songs in the game to begin with. While it's nice to listen to while playing the game, the lack of actual tracks and the fact that the music isn't memorable gives me a good reason to give Grinsia's sound a 5.

Addictiveness: 5/10 Back when I first started playing this game 1 1/2 years ago, I didn't get too far into the game before I realized that certain cities in the game cause the game to freeze if you enter them. That problem caused me to stop playing it for awhile. Eventually,... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Stadium

Pokemon 64
It's hard to believe that Pokemon is already celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year. Back in the old days of the mid to late 90's, the series took the world by storm, with nearly every kid in the world trying to catch them all and become the Pokemon Champion.  Back then, I had always dreamed of seeing the Pokemon I trained and grown attached with on my gameboy battling it out with a friend or my sister's Pokemon in 3D. I finally got my wish when Pokemon Stadium came out on the N64 back on March 6th, 2000. While most people know it as the first 3D Pokemon RPG, it was actually the second Stadium game released in Japan. With Pokemon Stadium being the first game released outside of Japan to be in 3D,  I was hoping that this would be the best game in the series at that point, but unfortunately, it wasn't. Red, Blue, and Yellow were far better games than Pokemon Stadium. Why is that you ask? Well, I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 9/10 Out of all the Nintendo franchises who jumped into 3D in the N64 era, Pokemon Stadium is one of the most visually appealing to look at. With all your favorite Pokemon now having 3D sprites (which for that time period, looked very realistic), few N64 games have visuals as great as Pokemon Stadium. The main reason I love the visuals so much is because of how realistic the Pokemon looked on the N64. Each one's as well detailed as you could possibly expect them to look on the N64, and honestly, each Pokemon look far better than the characters in the N64 Mario games.

If I were only judging the graphics purely on character designs, this would get a 10. Unfortunately, the game's backgrounds are kinda lackluster, and they have very poor textures. Fortunately though, the attacks are just as beautiful as the Pokemon themselves, with some of the best moves such as Thunderbolt, Explosion, and Fire Blast looking as epic as the moves actually are. Honestly, while the backgrounds may not look all that appealin... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Black: Version 2

Pokemon Black 2 Review
Normally after a new generation's first core games come out, they work on making a 3rd core game for that generation, that's pretty much an expanded version of the previous installments. In the case of the 5th generation, Game Freak went in a completely different direction, instead creating sequels for Pokemon Black and White, which are called Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2. The only other time that a core sequel has been made was Gold and Silver, which took place 3 years after the events of Red and Blue. In Black and White 2's case, they take place 2 years after Black and White. Today, I'll be reviewing Pokemon Black 2, because that was the one I decided to buy when it came out back on October 27th, 2012.

Graphics: 9/10 As one could probably expect, the visuals are unchanged from Black, though there are some new areas that weren't around in Black 2's predecessor.  One of those areas include Aspertia City, which unlike other starting towns in the series, is actually a fairly populated city. Some of the other new areas include Lentimas Town, which is located in a desert, Humilau City, which is a city located along the coast. These areas add a little more diversity to the Unova region, but they aren't anywhere near as beautiful as my favorite area from Black 2, Marine Tube. The Marine Tube is an underwater tunnel, where you can see just how beautiful Unova's sea is. These new areas give Black 2 slightly more visual appeal than it's predecessor. Since I gave Black's graphics an 8, I'll be giving Black 2's a 9.

Sound: 9/10 Pokemon Black 2 has one of the most massive soundtracks that I've seen from the Pokemon series. A lot of the music from Pokemon Black is still there, unchanged, though some of those songs got remixed. Some of which includes Ghetsis' theme, as well as the rest of the Team Plasma themes. Those remixes are among the best I've heard in a video game. In addition, there's also some new music that was thrown in there, including Hu... Read the rest of this Review
Final Fantasy IX
12-31-15 11:56 PM
An underrated masterpiece
With 2015 coming to an end for those of you in the central and pacific time zones, I've decided to make a review for the last Final Fantasy game to be released for the PS1, Final Fantasy IX. This game came out in North America on November 13th, 2000. Final Fantasy IX was very successful, despite not selling as many copies as VII and VIII. Of all the Final Fantasy games in existence, IX received the highest Metacritic score of them all with a 94%. It also received the 2nd highest score in the series on GameRankings with a 93%, with only Final Fantasy VI receiving a higher score. It's clear the critics loved the game, but how does it compare to other games in the Final Fantasy series? I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 10/10 Some PS1 games such as Final Fantasy VII haven't really aged well visually, but other games from that system still look amazing to this day. Final Fantasy IX is one of those games. The visuals are almost as great as those found in PS2 games, which is amazing considering how much more advanced the PS2 was compared to the PS1. Whether you're in a kingdom such as Alexandria, or in one of the game's gorgeous dungeons, you're bound to be impressed by the beauty of Final Fantasy IX. The most impressive part of Final Fantasy IX's graphics is the gorgeous cutscenes. Watching Zidane go after Garnet as she's swinging from the castle over to the Tantalus ship, and seeing Steiner fail as he instead crashes into the ship never gets old. The other cutscenes throughout IX are just as fun to watch, and at the same time, just as gorgeous. Overall, the only other games on the system that come close to being as amazing as IX's are VIII and Chrono Cross. For these reasons, I'm giving the graphics a 10.

Sound: 10/10 The Final Fantasy series has some of the most amazing soundtracks that you'll ever hear in video games. Final Fantasy IX is no exception, with even the legendary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu himself saying that IX's so... Read the rest of this Review
Mega Man CD

Mega Man CD review
In 2014, a hacker known as Tomaitheous created a hack of the Blue Bomber's first game, Mega Man on the NES. The hack is called Mega Man CD, and it was made for the Turbo Graphx CD. How is this hack compared to Mega Man on NES? I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 7/10  For the most part, the graphics in Mega Man CD are unchanged from the original. However, there is one major difference between the 2, and that's the title screen. Mega Man CD's title screen has a really interesting background, with Mega Man being in the center, and the robot masters being shown in capsules. It's far more interesting than the black background found in Mega Man for the NES. Other than the title screen, there's barely any differences between this hack's visuals and those from Mega Man for NES. Overall though, the graphics are still good for TGCD standards, so I'm giving the graphics a 7 out of 10.

Sound: 10/10 One of the first differences I noticed between the NES original and this hack was how amazing the soundtrack sounds in this version. Whether you're listening to the Dr. Wily stage theme, or you're listening to one of the game's other amazing remixed songs, Mega Man CD's soundtrack will blow you away. The only TGCD games that come close to having soundtracks as amazing as this game are the Ys games. For these reasons, I'm giving the sound a perfect 10! You won't find better music for the system.

Addictiveness: 8/10 Mega Man CD provides the same platforming action you'd expect from the series. As you progress through the game, you get to use abilities of the Robot Masters that you've beaten, and you can beat those robots in any order you want, which adds to the game's replay value. In addition, there's a great amount of variety between each level, with everything from a fire level to a winter themed level, Mega Man CD's levels are diverse and fun to play. Even someone such as myself who isn't a huge Mega Man fan can enjoy the gameplay in Mega... Read the rest of this Review
Tecmo Super Bowl 2016 (tecmobowl.org hack)
11-30-15 09:11 AM
Trollmo
Every year, tecmobowl.org creates a new hack of the successful NES classic Tecmo Super Bowl with updated rosters. This year's hack however has some serious issues that previous hacks haven't had. How bad do these issues effect the game? I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 8/10 The visuals in Tecmo Super Bowl 2016 haven't changed from any of the other hacks or the original for that matter. Each team's colors are well represented on their jerseys, and the field looks the way you'd expect it to for a game on the NES. There are a number of cutscenes that show up during certain situations, such as a tough catch, touchdowns, injuries, etc, and each of them look great for an NES game. Overall, the graphics for Tecmo Super Bowl 2016 are good enough for me to give them an 8 out of 10.

Sound: 7/10 Similar to the graphics, the music is the same here as in other versions of Tecmo. The opening theme in particular is one of the more memorable themes you'll find in an NES game. There's plenty of other good music found in this hack, but there are better NES soundtracks out there, such as the Mega Man, Mario, and Zelda games among others. Overall though, this game's soundtrack is worthy of a 7 in my eyes.

Addictiveness: 3/10 This category is where Tecmo Super Bowl 2016 truly falters. For some reason in this year's hack, there are far more fumbles than usual. It doesn't matter if you have the best ball protector in the game, you can still fumble at random, which is extremely annoying, especially when you're playing it on netplay. Even trying to get to the sideline won't fully prevent you from fumbling and losing it. I've never played a football game where there have been so many fumbles in one match. The BS fumbles as I like to call them, ruin what is otherwise a pretty good hack.

Another reason why the gameplay suffers is due to the laughably inaccurate stats that certain players have. Some of the best examples I can think of are Legar... Read the rest of this Review

Sonic Lost World review
After enduring some of Sonic's darkest years with titles such as Sonic 06, it seemed like Sega was finally starting to get back to making Sonic great again with successful games such as Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations. Sega was hoping to keep this trend going with Sonic Lost World, which was Sonic's first platforming adventure in the 8th generation. It was released for Wii U and 3DS on October 29, 2013 in the U.S. How does this game compare to Colors and Generations? I'll tell you what I think by making this review.

Graphics: 9/10 Sonic Lost World is one of the better looking Wii U games out there. There is a wide variety of worlds and levels in this game varying from windy grassy areas to a Snowy world, and of course, what game doesn't have at least one lava level right? Anyways, all of these areas look beautiful and they show what the Wii U is capable of graphically. I like going back to The Legend of Zelda DLC level just to see how beautiful a Legend of Zelda themed level can look in a Sonic game. Overall, Sonic Lost World is one of the better looking Wii U titles out there, so I'm giving the graphics a 9.

Sound: 8/10 I know I've said this in just about every Sonic review I've ever done, but Sonic games have some of the best soundtracks in gaming, and Sonic Lost World is no exception. Right away, you're treated to the title screen music which is absolutely wonderful. Eventually, you'll start hearing more amazing tracks such as the addicting Honeycomb Highway and the final boss theme, as well as some of the other boss themes in the game. There's a great variety of music and the sound quality is what you'd expect from a Sonic game. Overall, There are other Wii U titles that have better soundtracks such as Smash Bros. Overall though, the music in Sonic Lost World is great enough for me to give the sound an 8.

Addictiveness: 6/10 Sonic Lost World's gameplay mechanics are different from other games in the series, but not in a good way. Th... Read the rest of this Review
Super Mario Land
10-26-15 10:46 AM
One of my first games
When I first started gaming, I had several gameboy games in my collection, including Donkey Kong, and this game, Super Mario Land. It was first released on August 21, 1989, and is still to this day one of the better games in the gameboy library. How is this game compared to other games in the Mario series? Well, I'll go ahead and tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 7/10 For a 1989 gameboy game, the visuals in this game were really nice. There's a good variety of areas you must go through, and all the levels look very impressive for a gameboy game. Mario himself however, looks just like he did in the original Super Mario Bros. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I would've liked to see some sort of improvement in his character sprite.

When compared to other gameboy games such as Link's Awakening and Pokemon, Super Mario Land's graphics don't show what the system was truly capable of. While the graphics were really good for their time, there are better looking games on the gameboy than Super Mario Land. For these reasons, I'm giving the graphics a 7.

Sound: 8/10 Super Mario Land shows how good a gameboy soundtrack can be. Most of the music is extremely catchy and makes the game that much funner to play. There are  few themes that get repetitive though, such as the boss theme. Overall, Super Mario Land's soundtrack isn't as great as Link's Awakening or Pokemon's soundtracks, but it's still good enough to receive an 8 from me.

Addictiveness: 8/10 As far as replayability goes, there's plenty of that found in Super Mario Land. The game provides some very unique levels for a Mario platformer, such as a submarine level, and even a helicopter level. Super Mario Land's levels are very different than those found on the Super Mario Bros NES classics. In addition, it has some very fun boss battles. The only thing that keeps Super Mario Land from being more addicting is the lack of difficulty, which I'll get into later. Overall t... Read the rest of this Review
Frogger

Frogger for the Atari 2600
In 1981, the arcade game known as Frogger was released to the public, and became an instant classic. It was so popular that ports of the game were made for different video game consoles, including the Atari 2600. How was this port compared to the god awful Pac-Man game released for the Atari 2600? I'll tell you by making this review.

Graphics: 9/10 Compared to most other Atari 2600 games, Frogger's got some of the best visuals you'll see for a game on that system. Frogger, the vehicles, the logs and crocodiles all look very impressive for a game on the Atari 2600. The colors are spot on as well. The only thing I wish is that the turtles didn't look like a bunch of circles. Other than that though, Frogger's graphics are good enough for me to give this category a 9.

Sound: 8/10 Frogger has great sound effects and music for an Atari 2600 game. The main theme that plays before you start the game is very catchy, and the sound effects are also impressive for a game on the Atari 2600. There are better soundtracks out there, but the music and sound effects in this game are good enough for me to give the sound an 8.

Addictiveness: 9/10 This game possesses a great amount of replayability, which is why it was so popular in the arcades. Your objective is to have Frogger hop his way through oncoming traffic, then make his way across a river by hopping on logs, and at times turtles, and crocodiles. You must make it each of the 5 empty spots at the end of the stage in order to complete the level. Once you complete it, you move on to the next level, which is more difficult than the last. While the premise is pretty simple, the gameplay is still extremely addicting, which is why it was so popular in the arcades. Overall, Frogger for the Atari 2600's addictiveness is worthy of a 9.

Story: N/A Frogger doesn't have a story, therefore I'm leaving this category blank.

Depth: 5/10 The only content Frogger has is the same level being repeated, w... Read the rest of this Review
Mario's Picross

Mario's Picross review
In June of 1995, a puzzle game was released for the Gameboy known as Mario's Picross. It's a puzzle game that truly tests your mind. How is this game compared to other puzzle games  such as Tetris on Gameboy? I'll tell you what I think by making this review.

Graphics: 7/10 The visuals for Mario's Picross are alright for a gameboy game. Mario looks the way you'd expect him to, and the grids are sized perfectly. When it comes to a game like this, those aspects are the most important part about the visuals. Compared to other games on the system though, it doesn't compare to Pokemon or Link's Awakening, but the graphics are still good enough for me to give this category a 7.

Sound: 3/10 This is the category where Mario's Picross falters. The music in the game gets extremely repetitive and doesn't have any memorability, unlike the gameboy classic Tetris. I've heard far worse gameboy soundtracks before, but that doesn't change the fact that this game could've had much better music. I'm giving the sound a 3 because this soundtrack is definitely not the worst I've heard on the gameboy.

Addictiveness: 8/10 Mario's Picross offers addicting puzzles that'll make you want to keep playing until you've completed the game. When you've completed all the puzzles, there's a time trial mode that gives players a good reason to keep playing even when they've completed every puzzle. Overall, Mario's Picross offers a good amount of replay value. Good enough for me to give this category an 8.

Story: N/A Mario's Picross doesn't have a story, therefore I'm leaving this category blank.

Depth: 8/10 This game has several different game modes: there's easy, Kinoko, Star, and Time Trial, with a grand total of 256 puzzles to complete. There's enough content here to keep you occupied for many hours. Overall, this is the perfect gameboy game for a person who loves puzzle games that require serious brain power. For these reasons, I'm giving the depth a... Read the rest of this Review

Pokemon Red Major Battle Guide
Hello and welcome to my newest game guide, the Pokemon Red Major Battle Guide! Here, I'll be going over some good strategies on how to defeat gym leaders, elite four, and the champion of Pokemon Red. Now without further ado, let's get this started!

Gym Leader 1: Brock: Pewter City Gym Leader

Recommended Pokemon: Squirtle (if you chose it), Bulbasaur (If you chose it), Butterfree

Use only in case of emergency: Charmander

Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader, uses rock type Pokemon. He has 2 Pokemon at his disposal: a level 12 Geodude and a level 14 Onix. If you chose either Squirtle or Bulbasaur as your starter, you should have no trouble taking down both of his Pokemon with Bubble (if using Squirtle), and Vine Whip (if you're using Bulbasaur). If you chose Charmander, then you're in for an extremely tough battle. If you don't have one already, I'd suggest getting a Caterpie or Metapod and evolve it to Butterfree specifically for this battle. Why would you want a Pokemon that's 4x weak to rock you ask? That's because of the fact that it learns the move confusion at level 12. It's easily the best special move at this point of the game, and it'll make taking down Geodude and Onix easy because of their low special stat. If your Butterfree goes down before you take out Onix, then switching to Charmander and using ember should be enough to bring it down. Even though fire's weak to rock, the STAB combined with Onix's low special defense should cause enough damage for you to get the win.

Gym Leader 2: Misty: Cerulean City Gym Leader

Recommended Pokemon: Pikachu, Clefable, Ivysaur (if you chose Bulbasaur as your starter)

Despite this only being the 2nd gym, I personally think that Misty is by far the toughest gym leader to beat in gen 1. A huge reason for that is her Starmie, which is level 21. Her level 18 Staryu can be taken down pretty easily with a thundershock from Pikachu. Her Starmie however is a whole o... Read the rest of this Guide

Pokemon Platinum Major Battle Guide
Hello my fellow Pokemon fans, and welcome to yet another major battle guide of mine! Today, I'll be going over the major battles from Pokemon Platinum, including gym leaders, the elite four and the champion. For those of you who haven't had the chance to play this gem, I hope this guide will come in handy for when you finally get the chance to play it.

Gym Leader 1: Roark: Oreburgh City Gym Leader

Roark, the 1st gym leader in the Sinnoh region, has 3 pokemon on his team. He has a level 12 Geodude, a level 12 Onix, and a level 14 Cranidos. If you chose Chimchar as your starter, make sure it's evolved to Monferno before you begin this gym battle. His Geodude and Onix are both very easy to take out. Just use either a water, grass or a couple of fighting moves to take them down. Onix should be fought with the a Pokemon that you won't be using against Cranidos though, because Onix can use screech, which will pretty much guarantee the Pokemon that got hit with screech to get KO'd. Now comes the hardest part of the battle, Cranidos. Cranidos is easily the hardest Pokemon that a first gym leader has in the entire series. We all know how powerful the Cranidos family is, and when you give that Pokemon Headbutt and Pursuit, you know you're in for a brutal battle. If you have Monferno, a couple of Mach Punches will take it out. If you chose Piplup or Turtwig, then as long as you're a couple of levels higher than Cranidos, you should be able to take it out, assuming that Cranidos' moves don't land a critical hit. In case that happens though, it's wise to have a high leveled Machop, Budew, or Psyduck on your team to finish the job.

Gym Leader 2: Gardenia: Eternia City Gym Leader

Gardenia specializes in grass type Pokemon. She has a level 20 Turtwig, a level 20 Cherrim, and a level 22 Roserade. Her Turtwig is the wall on her team, since it can use Reflect. It would be wise to try and take this Pokemon out before it can use Reflect, because it w... Read the rest of this Guide

Pokemon Crystal World Johto Gym Leader guide
Well, I'm back with a new guide. It's been awhile since I made one of these, and honestly, after Nintendo removed the roms from vizzed and I could no longer find the pages for the hacks anymore, I thought I'd never be able to do something you don't ever see on the internet, make a game guide for a rom hack. Well, after google searching, I managed to find the game page for Pokemon Crystal World, so now I'm going to make a Johto gym leader guide for this hack. Someday, I might add more major battles to this guide, but for now, I feel like the only part I can give a quality guide for is for the Johto gym leader battles.

Gym Leader 1: Falkner

Surprisingly, Falkner is the only gym leader in the game who's Pokemon types match what his specialty is supposed to be: Flying type Pokemon. He has a level 14 Aerodactyl and a level 16 Skarmory. If you chose Articuno or Moltres as your starter, his Aerodactyl will destroy you with rock throw unless you have a Pikachu in your party.  If you chose Zapdos, then you should be able to withstand Aerodactyl's rock throws long enough to take it down. His Skarmory, despite being his higher leveled Pokemon, is much easier to defeat. Steel Wing is Skarmory's strongest attack, but even if you chose Articuno, it'll be bulky enough to take a few of those hits as long as it's at least level 16. Even if it goes down, a thundershock from Pikachu should be enough to take down Skarmory and win the battle for you.

Gym Leader 2: Bugsy

This is where things start getting weird. In this hack, Bugsy's specialty is FIRE! He has 4 Pokemon at his disposal: a level 20 Charizard, a level 24 Ho-Oh, and a level 22 Entei. The best strategy to use against this formidable team is to have a Azumarill on your team that knows Rollout. Why should it use that move over a water type move you ask? Well, that's because his Charizard and Ho-Oh are Fire/Flying type, which means rollout will deal 4x damage to those Pokemon. Once you ta... Read the rest of this Guide

Pokemon Y Major Battle Guide
Hello and welcome to my newest game guide, the Pokemon Y battle guide! In this guide, I will be going over good strategies that you can use for gym leaders, the elite four, and Champion Battles. Even though this is one of the easier games in the series, I feel like it's still important to make a battle guide for this game so that people who may be having trouble can get the help they need. Now, I'll go ahead and start this game guide!

Gym Leader 1: Viola: Santalune City

The first gym leader in Pokemon Y is Viola, the Santalune City leader. Her specialty is bug type Pokemon. She has a level 10 Surskuit and a level 12 Vivillon. Surskit doesn't take much to bring down. Make sure you have a level 10 Fletchling because at that level, it can learn peck, and it makes Surskuit go down in about 1 hit. As far as her Vivillon goes, that one can also be taken down by a Fletchling very quickly, or as long as you didn't pick Chespin as your starter, you can use your starter to take down her Vivillon.

Gym Leader 2: Grant: Cyllage City

The 2nd gym leader is Grant, the Cyllage City leader, and he uses Rock type Pokemon. More specifically, he uses the 2 pre-evolved fossil Pokemon, a level 25 Tyrunt and level 25 Amaura. Since both Pokemon are rock types, using fighting, and ground are the two most recommended types to use for the battle. Tyrunt is part dragon, so water and grass moves are NOT super effective against it.  Amaura on the other hand has many weaknesses that can be exploited, at this point in the game, such as fighting, water, grass, ground, and even rock. As long as you have a super effective move to use against his Pokemon, you should have no trouble here.

Gym Leader 3: Korrina: Shalour City

The 3rd gym leader in Y is Korrina, the fighting type specialist. Unlike the previous 2 leaders, she uses 3 Pokemon: a level 29 Mienfoo, level 32 Hawlucha, and level 28 Machoke. Mienfoo is of course the easiest one on her team to... Read the rest of this Guide

Pokemon Black 2 Major Battle Guide
Hello and welcome to my Pokemon Black 2 major battle guide, where I will be going over strategies you can use for gym leader, elite 4, and the Champion battles. I'll be going over the normal mode only, since the only way you can unlock challenge mode is by beating the game, and you can't even restart the game using challenge mode. Someone who's already beat the game has to give you challenge mode via Unova Link. As for this guide, I hope it will be just as helpful as my Pokemon Black major battle guide. Without further ado, let's get this game guide started!

Gym Leader 1: Cheren: Aspertia City: Specialty: Normal Type

The first gym leader in Pokemon Black 2 is Cheren, who was one of the rivals in Black 1. Here, he's a normal type specialist. He has a level 11 Patrat and a level 13 Lillipup. No matter who your starter is, this battle shouldn't cause any problems. His Patrat can quickly be taken out with your starter, as can his lillipup. Both of his pokemon have the same moveset, except for their 4th moves. Patrat knows Detect, while Lillipup knows helping hand, which of course is useless in single battles. This is in my opinion the easiest first gym in the history of Pokemon, so  you shouldn't have any trouble here.

Gym Leader 2: Roxie: Virbank City: Specialty: Poison Type

The second gym leader you'll face is Roxie who is the poison type specialist. The Pokemon she has are a level 16 Koffing, and a level 18 Whirlipede. Her Koffing knows Smog, Assurance, Tackle, and Clear Smog, which is an interesting that has 50 power and removes any stat changes that your pokemon has had in the battle. Her Whirlipede knows Venoshock, Poison Sting, Protect, and Pursuit. If you chose Snivy as your starter, then you'd better have another pokemon capable of winning this battle for you, like Flaffy, Pidove, even a Riolu could do some damage if it has counter. Her Koffing's pretty easy to take down, though Smog could poison your pokemon, which will... Read the rest of this Guide
