Well, I'm back with a new guide. It's been awhile since I made one of these, and honestly, after Nintendo removed the roms from vizzed and I could no longer find the pages for the hacks anymore, I thought I'd never be able to do something you don't ever see on the internet, make a game guide for a rom hack. Well, after google searching, I managed to find the game page for Pokemon Crystal World, so now I'm going to make a Johto gym leader guide for this hack. Someday, I might add more major battles to this guide, but for now, I feel like the only part I can give a quality guide for is for the Johto gym leader battles.

Gym Leader 1: Falkner

Surprisingly, Falkner is the only gym leader in the game who's Pokemon types match what his specialty is supposed to be: Flying type Pokemon. He has a level 14 Aerodactyl and a level 16 Skarmory. If you chose Articuno or Moltres as your starter, his Aerodactyl will destroy you with rock throw unless you have a Pikachu in your party.  If you chose Zapdos, then you should be able to withstand Aerodactyl's rock throws long enough to take it down. His Skarmory, despite being his higher leveled Pokemon, is much easier to defeat. Steel Wing is Skarmory's strongest attack, but even if you chose Articuno, it'll be bulky enough to take a few of those hits as long as it's at least level 16. Even if it goes down, a thundershock from Pikachu should be enough to take down Skarmory and win the battle for you.

Gym Leader 2: Bugsy

This is where things start getting weird. In this hack, Bugsy's specialty is FIRE! He has 4 Pokemon at his disposal: a level 20 Charizard, a level 24 Ho-Oh, and a level 22 Entei. The best strategy to use against this formidable team is to have a Azumarill on your team that knows Rollout. Why should it use that move over a water type move you ask? Well, that's because his Charizard and Ho-Oh are Fire/Flying type, which means rollout will deal 4x damage to those Pokemon. Once you take those 2 out, the real challenge begins. Entei can and will double team spam, which means rollout has a pretty high chance of missing. If you're not lucky enough to take it out before the double team spamming starts, you should use high accuracy moves like water gun, or if you decided to level grind your Azumarill to level 25 to give it bubblebeam, you should use that instead. If you're lucky enough to land enough hits to make Entei faint, then congratulations.

Gym Leader 3: Whitney

In this hack, Whitney has grass type Pokemon on her team. She has a level 36 Jumpluff, and a level 38 Celebi. Her Jumpluff shouldn't give you any trouble, even if you chose Zapdos as your starter. One notable move Jumpluff has is Jump Kick, so as long as you don't use any Pokemon on your team that's weak to fighting, you should be able to take it out quickly. Celebi is where things get really tough. Celebi has easily the most powerful moveset any of your opponent's Pokemon have had to this point, with moves like Solarbeam and Psychic, you're going to need to use your most powerful Pokemon to bring Celebi down. If you have a Pokemon with a sleep inducing move, you should try to put Celebi to sleep with it, then switch to your starter and use your most powerful super effective move you've got at this point. If your party's at a high level at this point, it shouldn't take very long to bring down Celebi.

Gym Leader 4: Morty

For some reason in this game, Morty has water types on his team. He has a level 38 Remoraid, a level 40 Kabutops, a level 42 Blastoise, and a level 45 Suicune. Remoraid can easily be taken down with any electric or grass type attack, no strategy needed with that Pokemon. His Kabutops can again be brought down quickly with a grass type attack, since it's 4x weak to grass moves. Electric type Pokemon like Pikachu and Zapdos can also take it down quickly. His Blastoise has Hydro Pump, which can deal a good chunk of damage to you, even if your Pokemon takes half damage from water attacks. I'd suggest using either a grass type like Bellossom or an electric type Pokemon to bring it down. His Suicune has good type coverage, with gust, grass types can quickly be taken down. If you have an electric type in your party, then using that pokemon is your best bet at taking down Suicune. Keep using your strongest electric type move until it goes down.

Gym Leader 5: Chuck

Chuck uses electric type Pokemon in Crystal World. He has a level 50 Ampharos, and a level 52 Raikou. If you have a ground type at this point in the game, you should use that Pokemon against Chuck's Ampharos, which doesn't have any moves that can do much against a ground type. If you don't have a ground type, make sure to use a Pokemon that's not weak to electric type moves, like Bellossom. Once you've taken down Ampharos, you have to deal with an extremely powerful Raikou. With moves like extremespeed, Thunder, and Jump Kick, you're going to need a strong group of Pokemon to take this behemoth down. First off, it would be wise to go for any status move that does not involve paralysis because of extremespeed. Instead, it would be wiser to go for a sleep inducing move first, then start hitting it with the most powerful attacks in your arsenal. If you sleep inducer goes down, then would be a good time to paralyze it. As long as you keep throwing out your best attacks, Raikou should go down pretty quickly.

Gym Leader 6: Jasmine

Jasmine has Dark Type Pokemon in this game. A level 50 Umbreon, a level 52 Houndoom, and a level 80 Murkrow. Her Umbreon, while being a great wall, is pretty easy to bring down, same way with Houndoom. Using a water or fighting type Pokemon here will be more than enough to take down Houndoom. Her Murkrow is where things get extremely difficult. It's level 80, and at this point, even if you're doing a lot of level grinding, you're level's likely going to be in the 50's. First, make sure to paralyze Murkrow, or else it'll easily be able to wreck your entire team. Along with good dark and flying moves, this Murkrow knows aurora beam, which means if you have Zapdos as a starter, you'll be at a disadvantage due to the major level difference. Once you've paralyzed it, then switch to Azumarill and start using rollout like you did during the Bugsy battle. If you're not using Azumarril or don't have rollout on you, then using an electric type Pokemon would be best, even if that Pokemon is Zapdos. Eventually, Murkrow will go down, and you'll only have to take care of 2 more gym leaders in the Johto region!

Gym Leader 7: Pryce

Price has a mixed team of grass and poison Pokemon. He has a level 70 Meganium, a level 72 Victreebel, and a level 75 Crobat. Compared to the previous few gym leaders who had legendaries on their team, Pryce's team is a joke. Meganium has some status inflecting moves like stun spore, but it can be taken down really quickly due to the fact that grass types have so many weaknesses. Victreebell is even easier to take down due to it's lackluster defenses. A couple of attacks should be enough to take it down. His Crobat has plenty of status inflicting moves like confuse ray and toxic, which can really get aggravating to deal with. As long as you have plenty of full heals, you should have no problems taking it down.

Gym Leader 8: Clair

Clair has psychic types at her disposal. She has a level 78 Alakazam, a level 80 Hypno, a level 82 Espeon, and a level 85 Mew. Her Alakazam can be taken down pretty quickly with a dark type Pokemon, since the only move that really does anything to that type is extremespeed. When used by a Pokemon like Alakazam, it doesn't do very much damage. Her Espeon is also pretty easy to take down as long as you've got some Pokemon that can withstand it's psybeam. Hypno is also really easy to take down, leaving Mew as the only major threat on her team. Mew has a good variety of moves, such as ancientpower, which is super effective against the starter you chose, mega punch, and psychic. Using a Pokemon that can put Mew to sleep or paralyze it is your best bet to start off with. Once you've done that, switch in to the strongest Pokemon on your team and unleash your best moves on Mew and it'll go down in a few turns.

I hope these tips will help you get through the Johto gym leaders of Pokemon Crystal World.

Jygin : It's actually a game guide. But I agree, it's very well done. I'm not sure if I'll be playing this, but it would be useful if I did.
