Hello and welcome to my newest game guide, the Pokemon Y battle guide! In this guide, I will be going over good strategies that you can use for gym leaders, the elite four, and Champion Battles. Even though this is one of the easier games in the series, I feel like it's still important to make a battle guide for this game so that people who may be having trouble can get the help they need. Now, I'll go ahead and start this game guide!

Gym Leader 1: Viola: Santalune City

The first gym leader in Pokemon Y is Viola, the Santalune City leader. Her specialty is bug type Pokemon. She has a level 10 Surskuit and a level 12 Vivillon. Surskit doesn't take much to bring down. Make sure you have a level 10 Fletchling because at that level, it can learn peck, and it makes Surskuit go down in about 1 hit. As far as her Vivillon goes, that one can also be taken down by a Fletchling very quickly, or as long as you didn't pick Chespin as your starter, you can use your starter to take down her Vivillon.

Gym Leader 2: Grant: Cyllage City

The 2nd gym leader is Grant, the Cyllage City leader, and he uses Rock type Pokemon. More specifically, he uses the 2 pre-evolved fossil Pokemon, a level 25 Tyrunt and level 25 Amaura. Since both Pokemon are rock types, using fighting, and ground are the two most recommended types to use for the battle. Tyrunt is part dragon, so water and grass moves are NOT super effective against it.  Amaura on the other hand has many weaknesses that can be exploited, at this point in the game, such as fighting, water, grass, ground, and even rock. As long as you have a super effective move to use against his Pokemon, you should have no trouble here.

Gym Leader 3: Korrina: Shalour City

The 3rd gym leader in Y is Korrina, the fighting type specialist. Unlike the previous 2 leaders, she uses 3 Pokemon: a level 29 Mienfoo, level 32 Hawlucha, and level 28 Machoke. Mienfoo is of course the easiest one on her team to beat, and it shouldn't take more than 2 turns to beat. After it users fake out, you can take it out with a flying or psychic move easily. Her other 2 Pokemon aren't quite as much of pushovers as Mienfoo, but still pretty easy to beat if you know what you're doing. Her Machoke can use rock tomb, which makes using a flying type to take it on very risky. Instead, you should use a Pokemon who's not weak to rock or fighting type moves to beat it. Finally, her Hawlucha is her most dangerous Pokemon, since it can use Hone Claws to raise it's attack and accuracy. The best strategy here is to take it out with your strongest pokemon before it can get a couple of hone claws in, because if that happens, you're in trouble.

Gym Leader 4: Ramos: Courmaline City

The 4th gym leader is Ramos, the grass type specialist. Like Korrina, he also has 3 Pokemon: a level 30 Jumpluff, a level 34 Gogoat, and a level 31 Weepinbell. His Jumpluff knows leech seed, which makes it important to take it down quickly and switch out so that the move won't drain your HP, and also it's move acrobatics power is doubled since Jumpluff isn't holding anything. Forunately, it's attack is so low, that it probably won't do much damage to you. His level 34 Gogoat covers it's fire type weakness with the ground type move bulldoze. It would be wise to use a flying type against Gogoat, as it won't take much damage from Gogoat's attacks, and it'll also take Gogoat down quickly.  His Weepinbell is very easy to bring down and doesn't require much strategy other than using a Pokemon who's not weak to grass or poison moves.

Gym Leader 5: Clemont: Lumiose City

The 5th gym leader in Kalos is Clemont, the electric type specialist. He has a Level 35 Emolga, a level 35 Magneton, and a level 37 Heliolisk. While Emolga is one of the worst electric Pokemon out there, it does have volt switch, so be sure to not use an electric type of your own unless Emolga comes back out as his last Pokemon. Next is his Magneton, while it has 4x weakness to ground in fighting, it won't go down in one hit because of it's sturdy ability. You can still KO it easily in 2 hits though, so there's no reason why you should lose to that pokemon. His 3rd Pokemon Heliolisk, has a unique type combo, normal and electric. If you have a Pokemon with ground or fighting type moves (and just about anything against Emolga), you should be able to beat all of his Pokemon very easily.

Gym Leader 6: Valerie: Laverre City

The 6th gym leader in this game happens to be the first ever fairy type gym leader, and her name is Valerie. She has 3 fairy types on her team: a level 38 Mawile, a level 39 Mr. Mime, and a level 42 Sylveon. Her Mawile can easily be defeated if you have any other fire type on your team other than Delphox (since Mawile's Faint Attack and Crunch are both dark type moves). If you don't have a fire type on your team, then using a pokemon with a ground type attack would work too. Mr. Mime isn't much of a threat, except for the the Light Screen and Reflect it can put up. Her Sylveon can be taken down pretty quickly with physical moves, as long as Mr. Mime's Reflect isn't still up. If it is, then all you can do is keep throwing your best attacks at it, and eventually, it'll go down. By now, you should have 6 Pokemon on your team, so this shouldn't be hard to do.

Gym Leader 7: Olympia: Anistar City

The 7th gym leader is Olympia, the psychic type specialist. She has a level 44 Sigilyph, a level 45 Slowking, and a level 48 Meowstic. Her Sigilyph isn't much of a threat, but it's light screen and reflect will drag the battle out longer if you don't take it down before it can use those moves. Her Slowking can use yawn, so starting with one super effective type and then switching to another to finish the job is your best move for taking that Pokemon down. Her Meowstic, despite it being her highest leveled Pokemon,  is actually extremely easy to defeat. Using a physical move that it's weak to should KO it in one hit. Now that that's out of the way, it's time to cover the final gym of Pokemon Y.

Gym Leader 8: Wulfric: Snowbelle City

The final Pokemon Y gym leader is Wulfric, the Ice type specialist, and in my opinion the easiest 8th gym leader in Pokemon history.  He has a level 56 Abomasnow,, a level 55 Cyrogonal, and a level 59 Avalugg. Abomasnow has many different weaknesses, such as fire, flying, rock, poison, fighting, and steel. Use a Pokemon with one of those types, and it'll go down quick. His Cyrogonal has horrendous defense, so using just about any physical attack will bring it down quickly, regardless of type. His Avalugg is the opposite, it has terrible special defense, so a special move should bring it down in a hit or two. There's no reason why you should lose to that guy. Now it's time to move onto something more serious: the elite four!

Elite Four: Malva

Malva, a fire type specialist, is one of the members of the Kalos Elite Four. Her Pokemon include a Level 63 Pyroar, Torkoal, and Chandelure, as well as a level 65 Talonflame. Her Pyroar and Torkoal are both pushovers, and can be brought down in a couple of hits. Chandelure can be brought down with a dark, water, or ground type pretty quickly, as long as their special defense isn't very low, because Chandelure has extremely high special attack. Her Talonflame can be brought down quickly if you have a rock type. If you don't have one however, then make sure to have a Pokemon with high defense that can take a Flare Blitz or Brave Bird without going down in one hit. Take down Talonflame with a couple of super effective moves, and Malva is finished.

Elite Four: Wikstrom

Wikstrom is a steel type specialist. His team consists of Klefki, Probopass and Scizor, which are all level 63, and a level 65 Aegislash. Klefki is extremely easy to bring down, and the only status move it has is spikes and torment, so Klefki is extremely easy to KO. Same goes for Probopass, who you can bring down in 2 hits, thanks to it's sturdy ability. As for Scizor, assuming you have a fire type on your team, Scizor can be taken down in one hit. If you don't however, then using a fighting or ground type in this situation would bring it down in a couple of turns. Finally, his Aegislash is by far his most dangerous pokemon. Whatever you do, do NOT use a physical move on it until it has used King's Shield, otherwise your attack will drop sharply. Once you've got through that, just keep attacking it's shield form and don't use physical moves after it's attacked, and you'll bring it down no problem.

Elite Four: Drasna

The next elite four member is Drasna, the dragon type specialist. She has level 63 Dragalge, Altaria, and Druddigon, as well as a level 65 Noivern. Her Dragalge has a number of different weaknesses you can exploit, however, it covers most of those weaknesses with moves like surf, which can do tons of damage to a ground type. Instead, using a psychic type here is a safer way to go, since it doesn't have any moves that can do significant damage to one of that type. Her Altaria is Drasna's staller, and it's cotton guard raises it's questionable defense. Make sure to use a physical move on it before it uses cotton guard, then it should have taken enough damage for you to take it out in another hit or two. Her Drudiggon is better off being fought by a special attacker, since Druddigon's Rough Skin ability deals damage to Pokemon who use moves like punching moves or other moves that would require the Pokemon to make contact with Druddigon. Druddigon can be taken out in a couple of hits, and since it's extremely slow, you shouldn't take too much damage from it. Her final pokemon Noivern's only strength is it's speed, and it has a nice moveset that can deal significant damage to you, such as flamethrower, boomburst, Air Slash, and Dragon Pulse. Your best move here would be to use a flying type like Talonflame, which could possibly be quicker than her Noivern, if your level is high enough. Whether or not it's faster, taking down Noivern should only take about one or two turns.

Elite Four: Siebold

The final Elite Four member, known as Siebold, is a water type specialist. He has level 63 Clawitzer, Starmie, Gyarados, and a level 65 Barbarcle. This guy to me is the easiest guy in the Kalos Elite Four, since most of his Pokemon don't pose much of a threat to your team. His Clawitzer, is best dealt with by a grass or electric type, and can be brought down very quickly, since it's pretty slow, and it doesn't have much defense. If you don't take it out in one hit however, it can do some serious damage, since most of it's moves get powered up by it's mega launcher ability. Using a grass or electric type on it is recommended. His Starmie is a non threat, and can be taken down in one hit with a physical dark type move. If you have Greninja, then likely won't even have a chance to attack. His Gyarados is probably the only pokemon on his team to worry about. If you have a Pokemon with an electric attack that can move faster than Gyarados, then use that, and it'll probably go down in one hit. His Barbarcle is a joke, since all you need as a super effective special move, and you can take it down in one hit or 2. Not enough time for it to make use of it's dangerous moveset, consisting of Cross Chop, Stone Edge, Razor Shell and X Scissor. Once you've taken him down, all you have to do now is face the champion, who I'll talk about very shortly.

Kalos Champion Diantha

Diantha has 6 Pokemon, with no specific type specialty. She has a level 64 Hawlucha, level 65 Tyrantrum, Aurorus, Gourgeist, Goodra, and a level 68 Gardevoir. Make sure to have an electric or flying type fight against Hawlucha, so she doesn't have it use swords dance, because if it gets that attack boost, then you're in huge trouble. Tyrantrum can be brought down quickly with a special fairy or ice type move, since it's special defense is only around a base of 60. Aurorus can be one hit KO'ed with a fighting type move, and possibly by another move that's a type that it's weak to. Her Gourgeist is definitely her weakest pokemon, and it shouldn't cause you any trouble. Her Goodra is better fought with a Pokemon with high attack, since it's defense isn't all that great. It's special defense is among the highest you'll find in any Pokemon, so physical moves are a must against it. It may take a few turns to bring down, but as long as your Pokemon has decent defenses, it shouldn't cause you too much of a hassle. Her Gardevoir is always the last Pokemon you'll face from her team, as it'll mega evolve. Mega Gardevoir can cause you some problems if you don't have any speedy Pokemon who can deal good physical damage. Mega Gardevoir has a whopping base special attack of 165, so it can wreck your team if you don't have either a good mega to counter it with, or a fast Pokemon with high attack. Mega Gardevoir's defense is very low, so using powerful physical attacks is the key to victory against this formidable opponent. If you can manage to bring it down, then congrats to you, the new Kalos champion!

Wow, what more could I ask for? You go into such minute details (Pokémon type, their names and levels)... I wish I could make such precise guides .
