it kinda depends on what you plan to do with it . i have both if im going somewhere i have my laptop so i dont have to use a computer anyone can get onto . but at home i use my desk top . plus its easier to work on my desk top and cheaper .

I'd prefer a laptop simply because it's portable. You can take it anywhere with you...if there's a connection in the surrounding area the internet can be used. Desktops are good only for the mouse...but a mouse could be connected to a laptop if wanted.

Just like many people have already said I love my laptop, but I think that desktops are more able to play video games better. There are some portable desktops though, but you still need AC power. also there are gaming laptops, which can use DC and AC power.
