The weather has been fluctuating a lot the past week. There hasn't been any rain or snow since the last blizzard nine days ago but since then it's been alternating between warm and very cold every day. It's been almost impossible to figure out what to wear in advance.

Today we had a lot of snow actually! It never really snows that much over here, but we get like a few days a year usually.

I saw it start to snow as the sun was coming up, and it initially melted upon reaching the ground. I suppose eventually thicker snow fell because we got a nice white carpet outside. I love stepping in snow and feeling that slight crunch as my devastating weight flattens the once fluffy snowy layer.

I don't like the super cold air though, feels like my lungs get stabbed with some breaths.

It was another snowy day here, although less so than previous days. I just occasionally looked up through my window and saw it fall, which made me happy.

Since Saturday it's been quite rainy. No intense showers yet, but persistent showers all day and night which leaves the streets all damp and filled with puddles everywhere.

Today we had an alert for dangerous waves on the coastline all the way unti Wednesday, so it is to be expected we could also have high gusts of winds. Thankfully I don't live close to the coastline, but the train I take home after work does (though further ahead after I get off) so it may see its service altered.

I hope things don't escalate, it would be the icing on the cake for this stressful week of work.

I'll be honest I didn't even go outside today. Well, I went to the garage to get some garbage bags, but aside from the 5 second journey to and from, I stayed inside the whole day.

Seemed like similar weather to yesterday though. Cold but dry, with some sunlight around noon or so. Great cycling weather actually, now that all the snow etc. is gone.

We're on and off with rainy days and sunny days. Yesterday was a great sunny day with temperatures a bit warmer, yet today we woke up to grey skies, some rain, lots of wind and much lower temperatures.

Such changes are getting me on my nerves. We can even have light rain in the morning to then have clear skies in the afternoon, days in which we have tons of natural light and days where it's basically evening all day long. It's very stressful and not the best start of the year we could have expected.

We had a sunny morning that invited to go outside, then at around 5 PM a light rain ensued which by 6 was already a full thunderstorm, at certain points of the city it was raining heavily with lightning and also hail. Yep, we had a major shift in the span of a few hours just as the sun set.

It didn't last much, by 7:30 everything was back to usual as the storm seemed to move into the sea and the skies are clear once more. But it goes on to show we can't relax even for a full day of this unstable weather.

It was another great day here. I have some family in the Netherlands and they said it was raining and borderline freezing there, so I'm glad we got the nice sun instead.

As of yesterday, I'm finally able to leave my driveway and go to work but many neighborhoods and subdivisions in the area still desperately need to be plowed. We got about 8 inches of snow followed by sleet, which quickly turned into ice by Sunday. Shoveling the driveway was a colossal nuisance since two of the shovels I have aren't suited to shoveling ice, and while the last one is sturdy enough to break it up, it was still a herculean effort on my part.

After the snowstorm, the temperature's been in the mid to low 20s, dipping into single digits by nighttime. The cold weather combined with the overcast days doesn't bode well for melting the remaining ice on my walkway, driveway, or the roads. I'm expected to get a few more inches from the storm this weekend as well, so that'll be fun. I'll probably try to see if I can find a sturdy shovel or two to have for the future. I want to get ahead of all the people that will inevitably panic buy every case of water, loaf of bread, gallon of milk, and carton of eggs from every store around me...
