Well, I knew that they weren't trees, but I would always call them 'mini trees'. Of course they look like trees! But I'm just interested on how many people actually believe that they are trees, even if they aren't young anymore (or if they are).

In all seriousness, I love broccoli and cauliflowers and they still look cute to me. ^^ I don't think I really thought much about whether or not they were trees when I was little. They just looked like the trees from the miniature city parks/attractions that I'd go to sometimes.

*raises hand* I know I thought they were trees. I also thought cauliflower was either a bleached tree-brain or GRAVEYARD trees when I was small...and I ate it anyway. As long as it wasn't cooked, at least. Cooked cauliflower still has a texture that I can't stand to put in my mouth *yay texture issues* but raw, it's good! 

I'm also one of those people who watched Land Before Time way too much when I was a toddler, so broccoli was like my version of tree stars, I always thought. It took forever for my parents to convince me that the broccoli growing in our garden would NOT turn into a giant tree if we just left it alone and didn't cut it off to eat while it was still tiny. XD
