Before you say anything... yes. It is an anime about Tennis.

But more than that, it's the story of Ryoma Echizen and the Seigaku (Seishun Gakugen I believe is the long name) Tennis Club's adventure from pre-season all the way to the National Tournament. When we start the story, we meet none other than Ryoma, who is kind of a cold and brash person, who has no problems showing off his arrogance.

A girl he meets on the subway basically misdirects him, and he misses a tournament. Later, they both enlist at the same school.

Throughout 72 episodes so far, (out of over 170 I believe) I must say I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the anime.

Most sports animes are not done well, whether because it's not detailed enough, or it lacks the ability to keep one's attention.

However, this one hits the mark, as it is one of the truly great sports animes of all time.

I will not go into spoilers, but I thought it was worth sharing that I highly reccomend this anime to people who like Tennis. For sure.

I've never watched the anime, but I have read the manga. It's really good, the characters are built really well  

Though it does get a bit repitive near the end, and all the "tennis moves" become too unbelievable.
