I found this tid bit about the Nazi's understanding of our universe amusing.

Many of Hitler's top advisers(maybe Hitler himself) adhered to the "inverted earth theory" meaning they thought  the continents were actually on the inside of a sphere, with all the planets and stars at the core of the earth...

there was actually a Nazi expedition lead by Dr. Heinz Fischer to a Baltic Island where they attempted to use high powered telescopes... pointed at the sky... to spy on the British fleet.

Needless to say the expedition was not a success.

Anyway, an actual cool fact about the human body is that no one is really more than 10-15 years old, meaning that the cells and atoms in your body are constantly regenerating and swapping molecules with the environment, the oldest being your osteoblasts(bone cells). Another way you can look at it is that you're actually as old as time itself, in that the matter that you're made of existed at least since the expansion of our universe 14.7 billion years ago!

I'm not completely sure if this is true but "Every year, 1000 people are killed by lightning." Well, yea... that is kind of a scary fact... hopefully its not true...

I think this is pretty interesting. Even though the Moon is only bright because it reflects light from the Sun, the Moon only reflects light slightly more than faded asphault.

Strawberries are not fruit, but instead the seeds are, and watermellons are actually shlled berries.

Did you know there are actually 4 states of matter, not 3?  They are Solids, Liquids, Gases, and Plasma.

From Earth we only see one side of the moon. We never see the other side because of the Earth and Moon's orbits.

To kind of add more to what you were saying about our age, you could say that what is even older than your bones would be your chromosomes. Every time your cells are replaced, the proteins assembled to do it stemmed from parts of your chromosomes dividing, being replicated, and linking back together. 

LunarDarkness2 : Sorry, but there are technically more states of matter than just four. Those are only the four states observable in everyday life. Some other states of matter are beam, Bose-Einstein condensate, and superfluid. (I only learned this a few months ago in chemistry class, though, so for more information you may have to look that up.)

Anyway, interesting facts... Hmm...

The extrusive igneous (volcanic) rock pumice is light enough (due to the air bubbles formed during its quick cooling) that it floats.

Mantis shrimp have the world's best known eyes. Humans have three photoreceptors to see color (red, blue, and green), but mantis shrimp have a whopping 16! They can also see UV and polarized light, which they can detect circularly, unlike any other known animal, and can perceive depth with only one eye as well as move their eyes independently. They also hold the record for punching, with the same acceleration as a .22 caliber bullet. (Mantis shrimp are incredible!)

Sometimes female fireflies of the Photuris genus will mimic the blinking pattern of other species to attract males to them so they can EAT THE MALES and get their bad tasting chemicals to protect themselves from predators. A Photuris firefly can eat several fireflies in a night.

LunarDarkness2 : Nah, it's fine! Like I said, I only learned about all those other things this year, (in tenth grade) anyway. I've found that teachers often present something as fact and then a couple of years later say "No, just kidding! We lied and it's WAY more complex!"(cough couch photosynthesis cough!)XD

Scientific Fact #2: A female would appear to seem more attractive within a photo of a group of beings of humans than within a photo of individuality. This study is entitled as "The Cheerleader Effect."

Scientific Fact #3: A human being would be able to survive four days without a beverage and two weeks without a meal.

Fact: They are only 5,000 tigers left in the World and in the next few decades their could be zero left

The internet cat Bub was not expected to live past kittenhood, I believe she's older then two years now.

As mentioned a couple of times there are four states of matter solid, liquid, gas, and plasma.  But did you know you can make and observe plasma by microwaving fire?

rcarter2 : I can vouch for his statement. I watched a video about a month or two ago on wimp.com about how attractiveness works differently with single person versus a person within a group. I think the same goes for males.
