I'm looking to build a website for my tutoring business, but I'm not sure where to start. I really don't want to use a website builder like Wix, because those sites suck a lot of the time in my experience. That said, I don't know if I'm knowledgeable enough to code it on my own. I'm thinking about hiring someone on Fiverr to code it for me; if I do, what should I use to register the domain? And what about web hosting?

Also, if there are any web developers on here that want to take on a project, I will happily pay you to build a site for me!

I can't help with like 99% of your post but when I host my minecraft server the company I used to register the domain name was namecheap.com

Someone else could probably suggest better.

David would probably suggest someone like godaddy for hosting which I think they do domain registrations too.

I got a cheap VPS off of Racknerd for like $50usd/year, I think. 6gb ram and 100gb ssd. You could probably get a much smaller one if all you want to do is host a site!

Namecheap is good for domains, Cloudflare is also surprisingly cheap. I've used Cloudflare, Namecheap, and Porkbun for my domains. If you don't care about what the domain looks like, ones between 6-8 numbers long that end in .xyz are less than a dollar a year on Namecheap.

If you pay a company like namecheap or godaddy to host your site, you're paying for the convenience for sure. If your goal is cheap, better to learn a bit and self-host. If you want convenience and don't mind paying for it, there's a ton of options out there.

There's tons of great coding tutorials on youtube - if you want something basic, it won't take you long at all to get something up and running by following the tutorials. I've always been more of a learn-by-doing kind of person, so this method has helped me the most.

Thanks guys!

Looks like I can get the .com domain that I want for only $11.28 per year on namecheap, which seems like a solid deal.

I'm thinking of using WordPress, since I have experience with it. When I was in charge of a club in college, we used Word Press for our website. However, I only had to manage the website then; it was already built by a previous president.

Still trying to figure out exactly how to get this all set up. I'm looking at videos on YouTube for help. First video I watched was this one, but I clicked off of it because I could tell right away that the whole video was just an ad for Hostinger. Then I clicked on this video next, and realized that the first video I clicked on was a word-for-word copy of the second video, except that the second video wasn't trying to sell me a product. Bizarre.
Thanks guys!

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
