Yoshi!   juuldude
I finally found the time to make this review about one of the games I spent a lot of time playing: Yoshi's Island for the GBA.
First of all, you might be wondering why I did play the GBA version instead of the SNES one. It's because I have a Gameboy Advance emulator on my phone while I tried a SNES emulator but that didn't work as it was too slow.
Second of all, what are the differences? Most differences are made to fit the GBA limits like graphics or map designs. The two most notable differences for me however were that the Shyguys and Yoshi make a lot of sounds that sound like this in Shyguy his case 'My, mow' or in Yoshi's case 'Hhnnn, yum, pam, bbbrrring haa!'. And probably the biggest difference is that the GBA version has 6 extra levels which are unlocked when the storyline is completed. But aside from that, you won't miss out too much if you play the original version instead of this one.
Now let's start the review!
Story: 7
For a platformer, the story is very interesting, as most other Mario platformers have a horrible story or no story at all.
One day, a stork is flying with a bill through the sky. In its bill are twins. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. Suddenly, a character, Kamek, comes in and tries to grab both babies. However, he only manages to catch Baby Luigi and Baby Mario falls down into the sea. But wait, he doesn't fall in the sea, he falls on an island! On that island live the Yoshi's, dinosaurs, and they are in an uproar because a baby fell from the sky! They notice the baby, Baby Mario, does know where to go to find his brother, there apparently is a strong bond between the brothers, so the Yoshi's decide to use a relay system to carry Baby Mario so they can look with him for his brother.
While this isn't mentioned in the beginning yet, Kamek tries to steal both babies as he knows that the babies when they would get big would try to foil the evil plans from him and his master, Baby Bowser who is spoken to as 'Prince Bowser' by Kamek.
The concept for this story is very nice, and it's special to see that the brothers have such a strong bond. The Yoshi's immediately decide to help, even though they have to face a lot of danger.
Graphics: 10
Many Mario games often have incredible graphics. This one isn't an exception. Yoshi's Island is a tropical place and that's why the levels and the island design on the title screen give you the feeling like it's a far away land. Some of the backgrounds in the levels look like they were hand drawn and that's what gives some levels a cute feeling too. Yoshi and Baby Mario also have great animations. When Yoshi looks up Baby Mario does too. And when Yoshi ducks Baby Mario pulls his hat over his eyes. The monsters also look great, there are normal or cute looking monsters, but also some angry or frightening ones, and even some weird or sly ones. The Yoshi's have different colours so instead of playing with the green one all the time you get to play with 7 others as well. All in all, the graphics are amazing and there isn't anything I don't like about them.
Sound: 8
There are a lot of sounds for enemies, Yoshi and bosses. That's what makes it givs it a very active feeling. Yoshi has cute sounds from the N64 games and there are sounds for when he eats, throws eggs, flutter jumps, does a ground pound or when he dies and so on. The music in this game is also very good, there a lot of tracks that will stay in your head like earwurms. But don't think there cute and funny tracks only, the castle music and the music from the non-midbosses are more tough and a bit creepy. The only thing I miss here is the balance between the cute and the tough tracks, it's either nice and sweet or it's challenging, tough and spooky. There isn't something between those tracks. There aren't a lot of level tracks for a game with 10 levels and 6 worlds.
Addictiveness: 9
I would really like to play this game once again. It's cute but challenging style, it's unique gameplay and funny minigames and bosses sure make this a great game. There have been a lot of other Yoshi games which follow this style but this one is still the best for me, there are so many little things in the levels that make it interesting. And I don't think there are many games where you have to beat enemies by gulping down their camerades and changing them into eggs so you can throw at them. Not only that, some bosses are defeated with jumps, other with ground pounds and one can even be pushed into a ravine! Most Mario games don't have that, just damage, damage and damage.
Depth: 10
With 60 levels and 12 bosses there sure has been put a lot of thought into the game. There aren't any tiny levels, and if they aren't very long then it's because you have to do something very difficult in order to advance. All the bosses except for two are just largened enemies thanks to Kamek his magic, but there is also a battle where you have to battle inside the belly of a boss and in one battle Kamek makes a ghost appear out of a bloompot! While some bosses can be defeated in almost the same way as when they would be big, others require a different strategy, like flipping them over, hitting a heart, doing ground pounds on stakes so they come out on the other end of the ground.
Thanks for User for mentioning this: The final boss is probably the one with the most depth. Instead of throwing eggs to the left or the right you have to throw big eggs which come on balloons to the back of the screen, because Baby Bowser is walking towards you from there. There weren't many games where the bosses have a lot of depth. Raphael The Raven is one with a lot of depth as well, you walk on a small moon so the background turns with you!
There are many enemies, mini games and to open up 6 levels you have to get the maximum score possible in the storyline levels (or a very high score at least if you count the secret levels which I mentioned in the beginning of the game). Those 6 levels are incredibly hard to beat, but they show different ways of thinking, like constantly hitting switches, or riding on a dog named Poochy to cross lava the whole time. Some of those things have been used in other Mario games as well, not Yoshi games only.
Difficulty: 10
While I have mentioned various times that the overall look of the game can be very cute, there are some ridiculously hard levels which literally made me lose 20 levels before I could come even close to the end. The game starts very simple and the storyline levels get slightly more difficult but especially the extra levels are difficult and take a lot of time to master. But since those are optional to do, I think Nintendo did a good job by making these so difficult for people looking for a challenge.
Overall: 9.3
Yoshi's Island was and still is one of Nintendo its best Mario games and one of the best SNES games in general. The remake I played for the GBA felt just as great and didn't have weird changes, only good changes. You can either spend a lot of time with this or just play it for a while until you get the hang of it.?
This is the end of my review, I hope you liked it very much and I my next review will probably be from Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, but there are some other Mario GBA games which I want to review as well as I am playing them a lot for some weeks now.

Ah, the Nostalgia   MoblinGardens
Yoshi's Island was released for the SNES on August 5, 1995 for the SNES. It was then ported to the Gameboy Advanced which is the version I am talking about. When Yoshi's Island was first released, it had positive reviews because of selling about 4,000,000 after release.
First off, let's talk about the graphics. I remember when I was little, I thought the graphics were amazing and I still do today. They are all cheery and colourful when you are hopping around in the sky, and they are dark and glooming when you are jumping over lava in a cave. The amount of detail put into Yoshi's Island's scenery is very remarkable.
Next to come is the sound. I find that the sounds is crystal clear and the sound track is awesome. You have your gloomy music very when you are running around in caves, your scary music when you are infiltrating a bosses castle, and happy and cheerful when you are in the sky. The music choices for this game is just perfect. The only part of the sound that I dislike, it when baby Mario is thrown off your back and he starts crying. We aren't going to hold us back though now, are we?
Third on my list of things to talk about for this review is the addictiveness. This game is so great that you want to play it over again. When I had the physical copy of this game, I played it multiple time over and over again because I loved it so much. There are also many things for you to collect throughout every level. There are 10 red coins, 5 flowers, and 30 stars all in each level. There is also 2 bonus levels in each world for you to unlock and play. This game is very addictive, so be careful.
Now let's talk about the story. In the beginning of the game, you find a swan delivering baby Mario and baby Luigi to their parents. Then out of nowhere something hits the swan and it drops the two babies out of the sky. Baby Luigi and taken, and baby Mario falls near a group of Yoshi's who team up and help Baby Mario Get back his brother back.
We are now onto talking about the depth of the game. This is actually a pretty long game that will keep you satisfied for a long time. There are 6 worlds with 8 levels each. That makes 48 levels in the main game. Now let's not forget about the 2 bonus levels each world making that a grand total of 60 whooping levels. That many levels in one game will keep you occupied for a very long time. Let's not forget about collectibles though. You will probably have to replay the levels to collect them all. In total in this entire game, you will have to collect 600 red coins, 300 flowers and then finally 1800 stars. I think that will take you a while.
The last thing I am going to talk about is the difficulty. Quite frankly this isn't a very difficult game, or so I find. You gain lives very quickly so for about half the game, I had about 80 - 99 lives because I did not die very much. Now you will die in this game. There are some parts that are very tricky and there are some things that if they touch you, it is an instant death such as spikes, lava, and red frogs that shoot lava at you. The game obviously get gets harder over time, but it is just the right amount of a difficulty rise each level.
In conclusion, this is an amazing game over all. I highly recommend that you check out this game in the RGR as soon as you can and play the game until the end. You will then know what I am talking about in this review and I am almost certain that you will agree with what I have said in this review. All-in-all, that is a great game and I have it a great 9.5.

Yoshi's Island on GBA   IgorBird122
It's time for another review by IB122, and this game is on Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island for the Game Boy Advance. This was a remake from the SNES version from 1995 all fitted into a handheld game. Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island was released in 1995, and now fast forward 7 years in 2002, with it's reputation it's got from the release in 1995, Nintendo wanted to re-release this game onto their handheld console known as the Game Boy Advance so you can play Yoshi's Island on to-go, which really made this game really popular to play. It sold like 1.6 million in the United States alone. Well, enough with the intro of this game, let's go ahead and get on with the review.
The Graphics:
The graphics in this game is pretty good, but with the typical "bleached out" version is pretty typical for the Game Boy Advance because the handheld's contrast setting is darker than it is on the Super Nintendo, but still, I don't think the graphics is that all bad though, in fact, by looking at it, the graphics in this game is pretty outstanding though. I just like the way the setting works out in each of the levels, I just really like how they're designed each of those levels, because they all look very unique, the background, like in the Super Nintendo, I just really like on how they did it on there, it make it look like it goes very far away with the view and I think personally, that is pretty nice work on the setting, as for the character spites, even know they ain't much of a change from the Super Nintendo version, but all fitted into the Game Boy Advance, I think they all turned out pretty good though, so I got to say, for the graphics, I think Nintendo did a really nice job on the graphics of this game and even with the "bleached out" graphics, this in a way didn't interfere the graphics in any way.
With everything I said about the game's graphics, I'm going to say that this is a 9 out of 10
----
The Sound & Music:
Now for the Sound effects in this game, they're not that different from the Super Nintendo version of the game, but I still in a way think the sound effects still came out great though, but to refresh your memory on what I think on the sound effects, I think with the sounds of the environment like the falling rocks, using power-ups, swimming in water, walking though mud, and a lot of other effects in this game I think is what makes this game really unique, and also, like in other Super Mario Advances games, this game also included more voices into the game as well. Now, as for the music in the game, although the music isn't like it was on the Super Nintendo (but still have the same soundtrack still), but for the Game Boy Advance, that is still pretty alright though and not just that, but also a few changes in the music department as well in this game, but all of those ain't much of a major change though, but I still think the music is still pretty alright though.
With how I mentioned about the sound and the music in this game, I'm going to give this a 9 out of 10, for a Game Boy Advance version, it's all great.
----
The Addiction Level:
For the Addiction Level of this game, it's very addicting, that's all I can say about this, if you look on how addicting the Super Nintendo version of Yoshi's Island was, well, now you can play this game anywhere, it just made this game even more addicting, I remember playing this game on the Game Boy Advance and I just couldn't stop playing it because with all the things I can do in this game, with each levels you want to try and get 100% of the level done so you get more levels unlocked, and now with more levels, I think this game is more addicting than the Super Nintendo version, but that is more on my opinion though, and not just playing it, but all the content that each of the levels have (which I'll mention in the depth later on in the review), I think that really makes for a very addicting game my friends.
Now with every bit I mentioned for the Addiction Level, I am going to go ahead and give this a perfect 10 out of 10 because of how this game is all played out and whats to bring the players back playing it.
----
The Story:
The story isn't that different than from the SNES version since this was a remake of the game, so the story hasn't changed, but if you haven't read my SNES version review, I'll say it on here. The story of this game takes place well before the events of Super Mario World, way back when Mario (and Luigi) was little babies. The Stork was on his way delivering the babies to Mario's (and Luigi's parents when all of a sudden, the Stork was ambushed by Kamek ans stealing Baby Luigi, and the Stork also happens to drop Baby Mario as well and at the mean time, Yoshi was walking around the forest and all of a sudden, Baby Mario landed on Yoshi and they wanted to know what it was and seen it was him, and then you start on your adventure to save Baby Luigi while avoiding Kamek's army of enemies that wants to take Mario back.
This is a pretty great story, I'm going to give this a perfect 10 out of 10
----
The Depth:
For the depth in this game, unlike in the SNES version, you also get an additional 6 levels to play in which will make a total of 61 levels (from 49 levels in the SNES version), that's the biggest change from the SNES version, but other than that, it's the same amount of depth as in the the SNES version which to my opinion still had quite a bit of depth, you got a lot of land to discover and unlike in previous Mario games, in this game (both the SNES and the Game Boy Advance versions) you don't have a time limit to go and get anything you have forgotten in the level, and like in Super Mario World, you can go back to that level you completed and get that level a 100%, even after you finish the game. and not just with getting the level a 100%, but also, you two different bonus games, one in the levels you're playing and the other one at the end of the level (if you land on a flower in the roulette wheel), so a whole lot of bonuses in the game as well which I think is a great addition to the game.
With on how the depth of the game that turned out, I'm going to give this a perfect 10 out of 10, this game got a lot to do and look around.
----
The Difficulty & Gameplay:
Ok, now for the difficulty of this game, it's really on how you play this game, but the main thing is that this game isn't really that hard to play though if you're one of those guys that just want to go though the levels without worrying about the red coins and the flowers, but if you're one of those guys that want to get them all (like myself) then this game can be quite tricky though, as for the lives, they're pretty easy to obtain if you're pretty good at this game, I even remember I got up to 100 lives at in this game, but with the easy lives, getting all the flowers and red coins might still end up using those because getting it perfect will take some time though. As for the gameplay, it's really not that bad though, it's going to take some time to get used to from the controls from the Super Nintendo version (11 buttons) to the Game Boy Advance buttons (9 buttons), but it's not really bad if you're used to the "A/B" buttons on the Super Nintendo, then the controls aren't that bad really though.
Ok, with all I said about how difficult this game is and on how the gameplay works for this game, I am going to give this a 7 out of 10, it's a pretty easy game, but if you're going for 100%, it can be pretty hard to beat.
----
Overall:
Overall, Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island is a pretty awesome game for the Game Boy Advance, I think this game is really worth checking out if you haven't checked out, especially if you happen to own a Game Boy Advance, because like all I mentioned above, like with the great storyline, a whole lot of depth put into this game I think was the main thing about this game, but also I think the Graphics and the Sound & music both all turned out pretty nice for the Game Boy Advance. It's not a really hard game and it's not that confusing to figure out at first when you play this game.
So with all that I have said about this game, I'm going to go ahead and give out my final score for this game. For the final score, I'm going to give this game a 9.2 out of 10, it's a pretty awesome game for the Game Boy Advance an I really recommend this game to play if you have a Game Boy Advance.

Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island of EPICNESS   Luigi12
I loved this game for SNES, so naturally, when the commercial with Yoshi destroying the car came on, I was thrilled! With new targeting and voice, it was a great game. Unfortunately, because of the GBA's screen brightness, the lavish, vibrant graphics that the SNES had were ruined. Other than that, the game is GREAT! The controls are easy and very responsive, and I have found NO glitches. This game also runs on a custom graphics cart much like Star Fox for the SNES, making it one of the most lush and vibrant games on the SNES, possibly of all time. If you think that this game is "stupid" or "babyish", HAVE YOU EVEN TRIED TO GET A PERFECT SCORE ON ALL THE LEVELS?!! Yeah, I bet you can't! BUT BTW!!! DO NOT GO DOWN THE SHY GUY PIPE AT BURT THE BASHFUL'S FORT!!! UR BROWSER WILL CLOSE!!!

Super Mario Advance 3 Yoshi's Island   bombchu link

                                                  Super Mario Advance 3

                                                         Yoshi's Island

Yoshis Island is a game that was

heavily based off Yoshi's Story, It consists of the Yoshi's, baby
Mario, and baby Luigi. The idea of the game is for Yoshi to take baby
Mario to Bowsers castle and rescue baby Luigi. The game is very
difficult for a Mario, (or really a Yoshi) game and will take some
serious skill to beat the game, and let alone complete it 100%. On
to the review.

Graphics: 8

The graphics are nice in this

game, they are smooth, (for a game boy advance anyways) and the colors
are bright and clean. All the enemies look clear and the backgrounds
are alright. Except for the fact that they look like they are made
out of cardboard. But that was a choice that Nintendo made and I'm
not going to slam them for that, because it actually looks kind of
nice once you get use to it.

Sound: 6

The sound for this game nice the

tunes are. . .interesting. The only downfall it that there are only 4
tunes, Land, Sky, Cave, and Castle. Not that they are bad, but they
don't really fit in bowsers Koopa Kingdom. But I will give it that
the tunes sound very nice.

Story: 6

The story is nothing spectacular,

it goes like this. A stork is flying over the sea carrying some
precious cargo, two small babies in two separate sacloth pouches. One
named Mario and the other named Luigi, as the stork is flying it get
ambushed by Kami the Magikoopa. She swipes at the stork and yells
"Those babies are mine!" and swiped them from the storks
grasp. Or that's what she planned on doing, but she missed one of the
sacloth bags and one of the baby's started to fall into the sea
below. Meanwhile on Yoshi's island, Yoshi is taking a stroll through
the forest, minding his own business. When all of a sudden a pouch
lands on Yoshi's back! Yoshi turns around and Mario's head pops out of
the bag and Yoshi is now very perplexed. He decides that the best
thing to do is to take the baby back to the Yoshi clan and discuss
what to do with it.

When Kami arrives at bowsers

castle she realised that she has made a fatal mistake, she missed one
of the babies. Se immediately sends out a legion of baddies to go
capture the baby from the Yoshi, and the adventure begins.

Depth: 8

The depth of the game is nice for

a game boy game, with 60 levels, 12 bosses and plenty of secrets this
game it is a very deep game, You get scored on each of the levels
you complete, the Max ammount of points you can get is 100. 30 points
for stars (health points), 50 for flowers ( five in each area), and
20 for red coins (one point apiece) that make a total of 6,000
points! So if you want to complete the game you will have to put at
least 6 hours into it. That
is a lot for a game boy game!

Difficulty

8

The

difficulty if fair on this game, not super hard, especially because I
beat the game with 120 lives and the enemies cannot give you damage.
That cant be recovered in just 5 seconds. So your wondering why I
gave it an 8.

But on the other side, as

mentioned above in depth there are 60 levels. Finding all 100 points
in every level is no cake-walk. Most of the levels are complete-able
without to much trouble, but the thing is getting all the point is
them, it can be almost impossibly difficult at times. It can be so
difficult that you will spent 30 minutes trying to find that last red
coin, or that last flower, or even trying to kill the bosses of the
castles without suffering a scratch! That is why the game get's such
a high rating on this one.

Addictiveness:

7

This

game can be very addictive at times, it like this. Your not really
going to let a Yoshi
game get the better of you, are you? Go find that last red coin!

Overall:

9

The

game was a very pleasant game to play and I just might play through
it again some day, it is definitely a game you will not want to miss
out on and I recommend it very highly!

Games so good they had to be remade   tornadocam
Games are so good they had to be remade again. Super Mario Advanced 3 is a remake of Yoshi's Island I will be reviewing Super Mario Advanced 3 as well as comparing it to the original game. The question is will it hold up to being as good as the original?
Story:9
The story Super Mario Advanced 3 Yoshi's Island was left unchanged. The plot is exactly the same as the original game. The Mario brothers are born and a stork is carrying them to the Mushroom Kingdom. Kamek the evil koopa wizard, who is baby Bowser's caretaker, sees in the future the disaster these brothers will cause the Koopa kingdom. Kamek then decides he will capture the stork and the babies to prevent the upcoming disaster. Kamek, then flies out and captures the stork and baby Luigi, but he misses baby Mario. Baby Mario along with the map the stork was using falls on Yoshi Island on the back of a Yoshi. Yoshi talks with his friends and they decide they will reunite the brothers and liberate the stork so the brothers can go to their destination. Kamek is highly upset so he sends the koopa troop out to snatch baby Mario. Yoshi must defeat the koopa troop, rescue the stork and baby luigi.
Okay in the original game I gave the plot a 9 out of 10. Super Mario Advanced 3 brought nothing new to the plot. Thus I give the story of Super Mario Advanced 3 a 9 out of 10. In a way I'm kind of glad they did not change the plot here. The plot really did not need to be changed.
Graphics and Controls: 8
The graphics in Super Mario Advanced 3 were for the most part good. The backgrounds are nice and colorful just like they were in the original game. The waterfalls look like waterfalls, the clouds move to the music, and the winter themes look like winter wonder lands. However, the sprites were changed a little bit. In the original game the Yoshis had red feet. In Super Mario Advanced 3 the different colors of Yoshi's have different colored feet. For example the light blue Yoshi has yellow feet instead of red feet in the original game. I really did not like it, the colors look out of balance to me. Also, there is a point in the game were there is a lag. I do not know if it because this is a game boy game or what. I find that lag to be annoying.
The Controls were mostly good except there is a time were the controls feel sluggish and it goes along with the lag I mentioned above. In that stage the lag and the sluggish controls can cause you to miss your  jump sending you into the pit. Aside, from that the controls were smooth in the other parts of the game.
In the original game I gave the controls a perfect 10 out of 10. Super Mario Advanced 3 brought the graphics and controls down a notch. That annoying lag and sluggish controls brings the rating down. I found the original game to have better controls. Thus, I give the remake a good rating of 8 out of 10 but nothing like the original.
Sound: 9
The sound in this game was left unchanged from the original. I'm glad they did not change the sound as Nintendo did with their other remakes of SNES games. The music is still awesome just like the original. The fortress stages still have that gloomy music to them. The caves still have their unique tunes to them. I was also glad there were no tingles in this game, which is nice. I do not like tingles at all. The sound the enemies make is left unchanged. Also when Yoshi hits an enemy with an egg it still makes a pow sound as it did in the original game. Now, when Yoshi gets hit baby Mario still screams to the top of his lungs. I find that to be annoying as I do not like screaming. I do not know if it is because of my Autism or what, but I do not like screaming. So if you are like me it is best to try not to get hit in this game. Since the sound was left unchanged I give the sound a solid 9 out of 10.
Replay value (addictiveness): 9
Super Mario Advanced 3 is a fun game to play. I enjoy playing this game as it has huge amount of depth and it is fun to replay the game after beating it. However, I find myself playing the original more. Do not get me wrong the replay value in Super Mario Advanced 3 is still very good, but due to the sprites and the one lag in this game. I find myself playing the original game more than I do the remake. That is not to take away from the remake. Because as I stated Super Mario Advanced 3 is still very fun to play.
Depth: 10
Now here is where the remake really shines. Everything the original game had the remake has. Flowers, red coins, and stars still have to be collected to get a perfect score. Just about every stage has a secret area that must be explored to get all the items. The game also allows  you to unlock news stages and bonus games. If you get 700 points in a world you can unlock that world's bonus game. If the player gets 800 points in a world than that world's extra stage can be unlocked. However, Super Mario Advanced 3 added something to the original game did not have. If you beat the game than an extra stage will be unlocked in each world. The original game did not have that. So by doing that the remake actually has more depth than the original game. I find that interesting because usually remakes will take something out. So the depth of Super Mario Advance 3 really shines and I give it a perfect 10 out of 10.
Difficulty: 7
Super Mario Advanced 3 can be difficult in some areas. In my review of the original game I gave the difficulty a 6 out of 10. Super Mario Advanced 3 is slightly more difficult than the original. Enemies can bombard you in this game as it is so easy to get hit just like it was in the original game. Also the items can be hard to get some will require special items and skills to get as well as some creativity. Also it is easy to get knocked into a pit or miss a jump and fall into the pit especially during the auto scrolling stages. However, the game does offer several ways to help you out. Unlimited lives can be earned in this game by playing bonus games or just collecting coins. Also several items can be earned via the bonus games. Some of these items clear the screen of enemies, refill your star count, and show you were items are. So that brings the difficulty down.
But here is were the remake gets hard than the original game. The remake added extra stages if the player beats the game. So that adds difficulty as the extra stages are quite difficult to complete. Also the two stages were there is a lag in the game makes these game slightly difficult. Those two stages happen to be fortress stages so sometimes the lag will cause you to drop into the pit. I find it best to do an extra jump right before the lag to overcome the lag. Still it is so easy to miss and fall to your doom. Therefore, the difficulty in this game gets bumped up a little bit due to the extra stages and lags. I give the difficulty a 7 out of 10.
Overall: 8.9
Super Mario Advanced 3 is a great game and really holds up well. When I saw this was a remake of Yoshi's Island I was thrilled and bought this game. However, I was nervous because some of the remakes of the SNES games had changes to them that made them see not as good as the originals. I was hoping that would not be the case here. For the most part it wasn't. The music and depth were left unchanged which was quite nice. When I got this game I played it a lot and I found it to be fun. However, did I enjoy it like I did the original?  Well I do like the original game better more on that in  just a few. Despite the flaws in this game it was a nice effort to remake this game and it shows. If you did not get to play the original game than this one is almost just as good.
Their are a few flaws in this game. I did not like Nintendo changing the Yoshiis feet. I felt like red just went along with all of the Yoshiis in the original game. So I do not know why Nintendo felt like they needed to change it. It seemed like the shoes on some of the yoshii's did not really match their color. I also was surprised to see a lag in the two stages that I did. I wonder if that is because this is a game boy game and did not have as big of a screen to work with. The original game was for the larger SNES system. I just have to wonder if the lag was created due to them porting this to the smaller Game Boy Advanced system. Still that lag is annoying and it does pull the rating down some.  On the other hand, I did like it that they added things in this game that the original game did not have. Adding the extra bonus stages was a very nice touch.
I guess due to the lag and different sprites I find myself going back to the original more. The original game was just so special in its own way. That does not take away from this game which is a remake. I still play this one quite a bit too just not as much as the original game. Now if you missed on on the SNES than you will probably find nothing wrong with this game. The flaws this game have are minor. So maybe they will not be a big deal to other players. So would I recommend this game. Yes I would recommend this game but I would also recommend you play the original version for the SNES as well too. Overall, I think this was a solid effort to remake Yoshi's Island the minor problems as I have stated or minor and some people will not be bothered by them. In my review of the original game I gave it a 9.6. Due to the minor issues the remake has I give it a lower rating, but still a high solid rating. I give the remake a 8.9 rating.
