dkmec20 : Mostly False. I am okay with seeing a spider and being near one. However, if it gets too close to me, or I am surrounded by more than three spiders, I will freak out.

The user below me is a sleepwalker.

I have been playing GB/C/A games, and I just cannot stand when the jump button is not mapped to the "Z" key. How can I change the controls?

A few days ago I traded in my old laptop, and bought a whole new one with a touch screen, and a screen the bends all the way back, and all that fun stuff. The display is really nice too. This website looks amazing. All of the colors are brighter, and almost glow neon. Everything looks so full and enhanced. I can't wait to see if the quality of the games on here are enhanced too. I've been stuck technology rut with a flip phone, a first gen iPad Mini, and a regular ol' Dell Laptop. Dell is cool and all, but I did not experience anything as amazing with Dell as I am with my new laptop. I've been stuck in a rut with gaming consoles too. The newest system I have is a xbox 360. And that hasn't really died out yet, but it is pretty old. Didn't it come out in 2005? So it's been out for 12 years already. So yeah. Maybe I'll get an gaming upgrade too. But I digress. So yeah. That's really all have to write. I'm not sure how to conclude this post so I'll just stop abruptly.

That's a funny story about the Romanian sayings. I have two great-grandparents who came to America from Russia/Eastern Europe, and taught a bunch of words and phrases to their kids. I can relate to parents using scary phrases. My grandma used to tell her kids that she would rip their arms off and beat them with it. So yeah.
Also, Kanji is still kind of like hieroglyphics to me.

The site I use is called "Codecademy". They have a cool setup where they have a box for code, and a box that displays the code as like a web page. And then they have step by step instructions. Like they might have all the code for the page written, but they're teaching how to change the color of text. So you can learn and practice colors, without worrying about other parts of the code. It's pretty cool.

Hello, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Ni Hao, and Aloha fellow gamers of Vizzed! I have begun taking online coding lessons. I have learned parts of html and css so far. So I can make a basic one page file, and link css styles to it. I practice making fake websites, and experiment with things. It's really fun. If you never tried coding, it is probably easier than you think it is. It doesn't take all kind of technical Mumbo Jumbo to make the word Hello appear in your web browser. Give it a try.

Who is your favorite X-Man? The Marvel Universe has given birth to dozens of mutants. Their powers are all so unique, and epic in their own way. It can be hard to pick a favorite, when there are so many great candidates to choose from. Dead Pool counts since he is kind of the Lone Ranger of the X-Men. You can pick a villain or a hero.

My favorite X-Man is Cyclops. He may be a generic one to choose, but I have always like him the best. Just the thought of being able to cut through something by removing your glasses, is pretty astonishing. I like that he is a leader and can keep a level head in bad situations. I've heard that he goes insane and turns evil or something, but that doesn't change my stance at all. So yeah.

Now it's your turn. Who's your favorite mutant? And why?

Guys. I know what a franchise is. But franchises often have mini franchises within the franchise. The games kind of get divided into phases. Like the Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, etc. Of course it's all Mario, but it would be odd to call Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Bros 4 because it's not similar to those games at all.
What I am trying to say is in the original "phase" of games that belong to various franchises, the makers had a habit of making a set of three games, a lot of them being a numerical "1,2, & 3", and then the franchise sprouted to other eras, spin offs, etc. It's like how there's the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and then it grew into a world full of more stories.
I know it's not a breathtaking discovery, but it's interesting.

Hey Everyone! I was doing some thinking and realized that nearly all popular video game franchises have in common. The thing they have in common is that almost all of them start out with a trilogy of games. A few of them continue sequels after the third one, such as Mega Man. But Generally they all have at least three installments following a single format, story line, etc.
For Example:
Super Mario Bros. 1-3
Metroid 1-3 (Super Metroid)
Mega Man 1-3
Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3
Halo 1-3
Dead Space 1-3
Mother 1-3
Final Fantasy 1-3
Castlevania 1-3
Contra 1-3
Double Dragon 1-3
Donkey Kong Country 1-3.
So on and so forth

See what I mean? It's like a franchise will only prosper if it starts off with a trilogy of games. Think about the games that are really good, but have been kind of forgotten, or lowered on the list. Games such as Ristar (It only got one game), Vectorman (Only 2 games), and I'm sure you guys can think of some more.
But do you see the trend? It's very likely a giant coincidence, but it's still an interesting phenomenon. What do you guys think about this? Can you think of any other great franchises that began or consist of a trilogy of games?

Baritron : Good question. I've always had a way of creating a mental image of what I'm thinking about. Let's say I'm trying to learn the word for "Cow" in Spanish. That what is "Vaca" by the way. I don't really think of it straight as Vaca equals cow. I kind of think of a cow and there are two names for that cow. English "Cow" and Spanish "Vaca". So it's like I think this animal (the cow) is a cow, but is also a Vaca.
Think of one of your friends that you have a nickname for. In certain situations his real name is what you call him, and in others his nickname is what you call him. For you, both names are his "name". I don't know if I'm making sense. If you looked at a picture of this friend, and attached a name to it, you could use his real name or his nickname, and you would still know it's him. Because both names are referring to him. For verbs and stuff, I would just imagine the action that's being done, and there are two ways to describe that action: the English verb, and the foreign verb.

Do you any of you guys know a language other than English? When you start learning a language,  everything just looks like someone ancient hieroglyphics even if it uses roman letters and shares Latin roots. But then, once you learn a few words and phrases, it all of a sudden becomes part of your every day vocabulary (supposedly). You kind of lose that sense of being lost, and when you talk to someone who does not know the language, you are put in the shoes of a foreigner in your own country. It's amazing how that works.
Foreign languages have been a part of my life for the longest time. I started out being home-schooled through 5th grade. And my mother felt it was important to learn a second language. So she taught us some Spanish. And when she taught us all she knew, she sent us to a professional Spanish teacher for children. Learning languages was very easy for me. Although it's not my career aspiration, (that's computer science) I've made a goal to try to learn all of the languages that I have an interest in. And that's a lot. My interest spans from Spanish to Arabic to Japanese and several more. I guess I'll be like the human C-3P0 if I master them all. I have already learned some German in High School. I have a Basic Russian book. I am currently teaching myself to read, write, and speak the Japanese Hiragana, which is taking forever. And I still have a bunch more I want to learn in the future. If any of you guys know a foreign language, it would be cool to have a few friends that I can practice with.

Sonic the Gingerbread Hedgehog
by TheBWoods15

Once upon a time, there were a Metallic Hedgehog and a Robust Scientist who lived in Robotropolis near Knothole Village. The Metallic Hedgehog and the Robust Scientist were hungry so the Metallic Hedgehog decided to bake a Gingerbread Hedgehog.
It made a big batch of gingerbread dough, then rolled it flat and cut it in the shape of a Gingerbread Hedgehog. It gave him raisins for eyes, a black jelly bean for a nose, a cinnamon drop for a mouth, and chocolate chips for buttons. But this Gingerbread Hedgehog had a special ingredient. A piece of Sonic the Hedgehog's DNA. Then it put the Gingerbread Hedgehog in the oven to bake. This was no ordinary oven. It was an oven that could make inanimate objects sentient.
When the Gingerbread Hedgehog was done, the Metallic Hedgehog opened the oven door, but before it could take him out, the Gingerbread Hedgehog jumped up and ran through the factory and out of Robotropolis shouting "Don't eat me!"
The Metallic Hedgehog flew after the Gingerbread Hedgehog. "Stop" it yelled with a mechanical voice. But the gingerbread Hedgehog ran even faster, chanting, "Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Hedgehog."
The Gingerbread Hedgehog ran into the Marble Garden and passed the Robust Scientist. "Stop, you fool!" the Robust Scientist called out, "I want to eat you." But the Gingerbread Hedgehog ran even faster, chanting, "I've run away from a Metallic Hedgehog, and I can run away from you, I can. Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Hedgehog."
The Robust Scientist chased the Gingerbread Hedgehog followed by the Metallic Hedgehog. But the Gingerbread Hedgehog ran too fast for them. The Gingerbread Man ran through the Spring Yard and passed a Crabmeat. "Stop", the Crabmeat said, "I want to eat you." But the Gingerbread Hedgehog ran even faster, chanting, "I've run from a Metallic Hedgehog and a Robust Scientist, and I can run away from you, I can. Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Hedgehog."
The Crabmeat chased the Gingerbread Hedgehog, followed by the Metallic Hedgehog and the Robust Scientist. But the Gingerbread Hedgehog ran too fast for them. The Gingerbread Hedgehog passed a Silver Hedgehog by a Ruined City. "Stop", the Silver the Hedgehog shouted, "It's no use!". But the Gingerbread Hedgehog ran even faster, chanting, "I've run from a Metallic Hedgehog and a Robust Scientist and a Crabmeat, and I can run away from you, I can. Run, run as fast  as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Hedgehog."
The Silver Hedgehog chased the Gingerbread Hedgehog, followed by the Crabmeat and the Metallic Hedgehog, and the Robust Scientist. But the Gingerbread Hedgehog ran too fast for them.
The Gingerbread Hedgehog passed a Black Hedgehog in the forest. "Stop," the Black Hedgehog growled, "Chaos Control." But the Gingerbread Hedgehog ran even faster, chanting, "I've run from a Metallic Hedgehog, and a Robust Scientist, and a Crabmeat, and a Silver Hedgehog, and I can run away from you, I can. Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Hedgehog.
The Black Hedgehog chased the Gingerbread Hedgehog, followed by the Silver Hedgehog, the Crabmeat, the Metallic Hedgehog, and the Robust Scientist. But the Gingerbread Hedgehog ran too fast for them.
Then the Gingerbread Hedgehog reached Knothole Village, but he didn't know how to vine swing. A heroic and friendly Blue Hedgehog saw the Gingerbread Hedgehog and said, "Jump on my back, and I'll take you through Knothole Village!"
The Gingerbread Hedgehog thought to himself, "I'll be safe on his back" So he jumped on the Blue Hedgehog's back and they went through Knothole Village.
Halfway through Knothole Village, A Two-Tailed Fox shouted "Hey Sonic! What do you have on your back?" So the Blue Hedgehog showed  the Gingerbread Hedgehog to the Two-Tailed Fox.
Without paying attention the Two-Tailed Fox thought it was a gift from the Blue Hedgehog. The Two-Tailed Fox took the Gingerbread Hedgehog and ate him up!
And that was the end of the Gingerbread Hedgehog.

Pokemonfan1000 : Yes. Yes it does. The easiest way to do it is to lay down multiple Super Sonic Monitors in a row and then spin dash through all of them at once. The game flips out, and then the glitch I described happens.

TheBWoods15 : I figured out how it happened. The game got stuck in DEMO mode somehow. So it thought it was displaying a demo of the game. So when I hit the start button (Remember this is Sonic 3 & Knuckles) it skipped the entire first half of the game, brought up the Sonic & Knuckles Title Screen. I can't stop laughing. =)

I was in the midst of Hydrocity Zone messing around with debug mode and Sonic was in Hyper Sonic Form. Sonic must have gotten stuck in some kind of script, because for about 5 minutes Sonic was in control of himself, and he literally got through a portion of the level on his own and I did not have to press a single button. There are only two logical explanations for this. 1)My computer got possessed. 2) It is the most amazing glitch so far. Either way it was awesome and hilarious.
