Here is a very early draft of my submission to slashdot. I'm almost 100% sure I'll be needing to change some things. In fact, I think I already see a few problems! Regardless, I'll let you guys look over this version. I pretty much have to act as if I'm seeing the project from a third-person stance... as it has to be like an actual article. There probably are a few errors... so lets work them out before we even think of sending it to slashdot.

A petition for the remake of "Chrono Trigger" is currently underway. The group in charge of this petition is known simply as the "Chrono Trigger Remake Petition Group", or the CTRPG. The goal of their petition is to persuade Square-Enix in to making a remake of the famed "Chrono Trigger" on a modern video game console. The group has already contacted a representative from Square-Enix of America, and was given favorable responses. According to the leader, Jacob Kuntzman, the Square-Enix representative informed him that if he collected between 15,000 and 20,000 signatures, that Square-Enix of America would review the petition, and then ship it over to Square-Enix of Japan. While getting such a large amount of signatures sounds impressive; the group expects such an outpouring of support so as to obtain 25,000 signatures. This petition, unlike prior attempts at a Chrono Trigger petition, is actually to be hand-signed, and sent to an address accessible by the leader. In this manner, the petitions will be gathered from across America, and be shipped in bulk to Square-Enix of America.

The group is currently promoting itself across Chrono Trigger or videogame-related forums in attempt to gather the fans necessary to allow the petition to grow. The forums they use to communicate with others in regards to the project is: "https://www.vizzed.com/vizzedboard/forum.php?id=31". With any luck, this group will suceed and allow a great game to be brought in to the modern times.

Hmmmm... Yes... I suppose I agree. A thread for things pertaining to occurences AFTER the launch of the site should probably be in a thread not labeled "planning". Afterall, if we launched, we aren't exactly planning anymore.

Props, any picture can be used... you just have to know how the HTML to do it works.

I believe Stoney listed a similar function. Here is the one I use:

Just replace the website with the website you wish to redirect to, replace the fake image file with your own. Also, keep in mind... you have to size your image correctly. Oh... and text should probably be something along the lines of "Visit the Chrono Trigger Remake Petition!". Oh... and you'll also have to replace "[" and "]" with "<" and ">".

Anyway... I've been doing a bit of work. Gave information of the release at the CTRP forums, one of my personal forums, and will soon give the information over at the Compendium.

Of course Jake. I actually did remember that; mostly because you've MADE SURE I remembered that by bashing it in to my head at every mention of slashdot. No need to worry.

So all is set then? Seems so. That is great. I'll advertise where I can. I'll write up something to slashdot over the weekend. It seems our main job is over now. Its end will depend on the CT fans alone.

...I don't think we'll have that last signature ready. Either Saridon dropped or isn't done with his latest work. Regardless; this likely means that we won't be getting that last signature done. If you want to launch like that; it is fine with me. Though I agree, there isn't any need to rush it out by a few days. We've waited this long... a day or two won't kill us.

The only possible problem is that Saridon might do the SAME thing... thus being a waste. Quite frankly though... I am not sure if he is still working on it. He hasn't contacted me for a while now.

Just realized... Saridon already claimed he intended to do that Epoch signature. Then again, he hasn't emailed me or even made mention of any progress. I'm starting to think that he either gave up, or ran in to some time-consuming problems. I can't really tell him he can't do it, as he may already be almost done with it. Hmmmmm... I hate to say it, but we might have to use his as a "backup" for download in the Extras section (if he makes it).

Just thought I'd point out the possible "conflict" of sorts.

Interesting. I'm expecting Saridon to give me another one of his works relatively soon. It seems we may actually meet this deadline... somehow. Sounds good. Just a little bit more to go!


Jake, might I suggest that we mention these artists somewhere? They are helping us, for free, afterall. Hence it is my suggestion, for the sake of giving at least some little thing in exchange for their time, that we mention them somewhere... if possible.

The scary thing is... that works awesomely as a signature.

I was thinking of working with the picture seen above at some point in the future. I believe someone (I think it might have been one of the old developers) from CTRP posted this a long time ago. I always thought it was pretty funny... so maybe I'll do something with that later on. The Magus fans would rejoice.

Very well. If I can find a good image of that, then it seems the next petition I make shall have Rocky Balboa (gotta love the Italian Stallion). Of course... it doesn't really hold any relevance to CT. Then again, this would be a personalized petition just for your use... so it wouldn't really be that much of a problem. I'm sure S-E would be sort of amused with a lone petition having Rocky on it. NEW SECRET CHARACTER!!!

Yea... I realized I could crop everything. That could make it work, but it would be a pain to get everything just right for each version. I'll probably try it out later on, when I have more time, but the originals aren't so horrible to put up with at the moment.

I'm glad you like the Janus + Alfador petiton so much. I thought it came out quite nice as well. Since you requested it, I suppose I can allow you to let the public to use that one. Though... the whole "requests" idea was for personalized petitions.


A little later, when I manage to get some more time, I shall make the edits to the Lavos petition. I actually didn't see your tip about making the Lavos petition gray. It shouldn't take too long to do.

As for reformating every petition already out there, I'd have to disagree with you. I realize that you like specifically how the Janus + Alfador petition looks, but it would be extremely difficult or maybe even impossible to get the same look for the others. Why? Because the way Janus was positioned, and his size, was PERFECT positioning him in that manner. The canvas for the other characters is a vertical rectangle; whereas Janus's cavas is a smaller square. Unless I squished the images (thus making them look sorta nasty), I wouldn't be able to fit them in like I did for Janus. I don't mind the look of the prior petitions too much anyway; though perhaps later on I'll play around with photoshop and see what I can come up with.

Sounds good Stoney. Another artist is always welcome. Now that I think of it though; you might want to make sure he doesn't do anything that Saridon has signed up for. Two artists submitting the same thing (when we can only, at the moment, choose one) is rather pointless, afterall. Just look over that list of jobs I posted not too far back. That should show which jobs Saridon took.

GIMP, eh? Now that I think about it... I think a friend of mine uses that. Supposedly... it is not only free, but it can do pretty much everything photoshop can do. Of course... I haven't used it myself...so I can't verify that.

Well... yes... I can see that, however, I don't think "Chrono Trigger Remake Petition" sounds much less generic... if you get me. Also... the reason the font in the second version is different is since I did not have that font set that Saridon did. As such, I had to replace it with another.

Anyway, I'll change them if it is really necessary. Though I don't think that one word makes a big difference. Since the site itself is called "Chrono Trigger Petition", you can't really change that name on the signature unless you change the name of the site itself. Furthermore, if you want to choose a name that stands out from the other names... perhaps we should look in to more... original possibilities.

I recieved the Ayla signature from Saridon. He gave it to me in .psd format, however. Anyway, I looked it over... and it looks pretty good. It isn't THAT different from the original, but it is tweaked a bit. Also worthy of note, is that he seems to have been able to edit the text from the original. He somehow put it in to a seperate layer, which allows it to be edited... though only in photoshop. Of course, I realize that not all of you have photoshop. Due to this, I made a different version which I dubbed the 'general' version. This version merely says "I support the Chrono Trigger Petition", rather than including your name. I suggest you include both versions in the download. That way those without photoshop can still have a signature supporting the CTP, and those with photoshop can add their names to it.

Just letting you know; the file for the Janus+Alfador petition seems to be corrupt. You're going to have to fix that link Jake.

We actually should be recieving some artwork soon. It seems Saridon has already finished with one of the three pictures he chose to work with. He'll be emailing me them. I'll post them for you guys to look at once I recieve them. I doubt we'll have all six by our "launch", at this rate, but we might have at least three.

Hey guys. As was requested, Lavos and the group of Janus and Alfador have had their own versions of the petition made. The Lavos picture took only a few minutes... but Janus and the famous purple kitty took quite a bit longer than that. Regardless, I think both turned out pretty well. Of course, that is also for you guys to decide. Take a look, tell me what you think. I'll make any changes (if possible) that are requested.
