Hello fellow gamers.
I've looked around to find out how to change the Sega Genesis controller from 3 buttons to 6 buttons and found out that I need to use MAMEhub in order to use 6 button controller. I'm not very familiar with MAMEhub, and for that reason, I messed up the general buttons config while I should have sat the configurations in the 'this game' option. That totally messed up the buttons while playing and I tried to find a reset option but I couldn't find any. How can I reset what I've messed up?

Ok, now to your problem.
If you are using the RGR, I recommend using MEDNAFEN as the emulator. I feel like its coded better and runs better as a result.

To change to a 6 button controller, press ctrl+shift+1 and it should change to a 6 button.
To change back, press ctrl+shift+1 until you get back to a 3 button. (it will say on the bottom of the game screen what type of controller is being emulated).

To configure the controller, double click the screen and follow the directions on the bottom of the game screen.

Thank you Ripley is my fav female hero.
I use a USB controller which looks like a playstation controller. I tried ctrl+shift+1 but it shows on screen 'cannot change input during netplay' and when i double click on the screen, it always shows the 3-button config :/

Oh! ok that fixed the problem, however, when I tried the multiplayer session, it still didn't work. I choose multiplayer sessions because my fiance and I play together online. Is there any fix for that?
